SFXMM Downloads hit 1 million =)#SFXMM @8bitpimp

Hope this encourages them to make a new magaman game. I'm kind of tired of 8 bit though, can we get a 2.5D MM game?
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? amazing!!!
I just heard like Infiltration signed with VxG EMP by a tweet from Trifore, not sure though
I say give Mega Man on more solid try. But first they need to decide how they're going to go about making the game. There's so many Mega Men that it's hard to tell exactly which Mega Man you're referring to, let alone which one a game should be made on.
@dachsun its not neccesarily that MM isnt popular anymore, its just that people are pretty burnt out from the old 8-bit platforming style that Capcom has stuck with for years now. There is very little innovation implemented in MM games, which is why people are getting tired of them. SfxMM was a hit because at this point everyone(including myself) were dying for a new MM game whether it was fanmade or made by Capcom themselves. IMO if Capcom wants the MM franchise to be successful again, they should try making a new game that implements some new ideas and mechanics(not too drastic)while staying true to the series and everything people loved about it, without outsourcing it to a western dev, because that didnt work out for them in the cases of Bionic Commando, Operation racoon city, and DMC. Inticreates did an excellent job with the ZX games as well as MM9 and 10, maybe Capcom can have them develop it?
@13 They are still around, their latest game iirc was Naruto Powerful shippuden, a beat em up for the 3ds which comes out this tuesday. Its pretty average imo, not that amazing but not terrible either
@2 There was a 2.5D Megaman game. Its for the psp called Megaman Maverick Hunter X
If Capcom still cares about MM, but doesn't want to work on a new game, they could still bother with an upgraded re-release of the Megaman Zero games. It seems a lot of people have still missed out on those great games, so a more polished presentation on home consoles would be cool to see.
Oh, and I still love 8-bit MM too. SFxMM was okay, but if the quality was on par with how they did 9 and 10, I'd happily buy MM11+. I know others feel differently, but MM was one of those franchises that made me love video games in the first place, so I honestly have no problem playing it the same way I did as a kid if it's still polished to the standard.
@17
Count me in that group. I think I didn't play them mainly because I hated Zero when I was younger and these games were current, though. I'm not bitter at him stealing X's spotlight anymore now so he's OK in my book lol...maybe I'll just play them on VBA or something.
The funny part is how long it took them to reach that many downloads. I still wouldn't trust anything coming out of Capcom these days.
@16
I though Maverick Hunter X was just a rerelease of the MMX games for PSP...didn't realize they were full on remakes. Damn I wanna play THAT now lol.
@hazelnut
This isn't coming from Capcom, this is coming from the creator himself. Nobody cares that Capcom pissed in your cereal, either add something to the convo or stop acting like a bitter little beeyotch.
Don't forget Mega Man Powered Up.
If they're going to continue either the classic or the X series, please settle their respective stories and connect them to their respective successors.
Gameplay-wise they could use Mega Man X8 as the template.
@21
Well it doesn't really matter since the download link is directly from Capcom and they published it as well. Don't matter I still won't support it if it means giving Capcom hits.
@21 If you have a Vita or PSP you can download it off of PSN for free via PS+
@19 The MMZ games definitely come recommended from me. Yeah, there are a couple of things that still bug me, and the first game could be revamped a bit especially, but they still did a great followup to the X series. I also prefer X as a character, but I think his place in the Zero storyline makes sense.
I wouldn't sweat MHX much though, not unless you already own a PSP or something. I borrowed my copy, and while they made some cool changes, I felt it ultimately boiled down to the anime bonus (which you can watch online now) and the Vile mode. Otherwise, I think the original holds up just as well.
Still wouldn't hurt to re-release all this stuff though!
@12
As good as the ZX games were, they didn't sell well which is why we only got two games in that series. Regardless of the format, the real problem is simply that the majority of people just don't truly care for Mega Man anymore. Either that or they don't show support with their wallets, choosing only to complain after the fact. Both seem highly likely.
You have to keep in mind that before the Mega Man game drought started, Capcom was putting out a lot of Mega Man stuff. Maverick Hunter X (which was also meant to get more games in the series), Powered Up, ZX, Star Force, a re-release of the Zero games, MM 9 and 10...Capcom wasn't exactly slacking off in the Mega Man department prior to 2010. Mega Man just doesn't make money anymore.
So while it's good to hear that SFxMM hit 1 million downloads, #5 is right when he says that Capcom would struggle to reach that same number with a Mega Man game that people had to pay for. The positive to take from this though is that Capcom may be encouraged to explore the digital download avenue further, since the cost to distribute things digitally (especially if it's directly from their own sites) is much smaller than putting out physical copies or through a service that requires them to pay a certain amount for.
@24
"Giving Capcom hits"? You're an idiot. It's not about hits. You're part of the problem of why we don't see any Mega Man games anymore.
