#56
chipndip said on June 28, 2013 at 10 p.m.

Thing about stream monsters is that they're scum for taking advantage of the fact that Spooky has to act professional while people diss him on his own stream. If he got fed up with it, I wouldn't blame him. These guys make money through subs and commercials so they can sustain what they do and bring the best quality they can, for props or for beating out other streamers. If it's free chat, I take advantage. If it isn't, I'm not gonna take off my boxers, put on some panties, and get them in a bunch like Major_Dog apparently does every time Spooky rolls in. It's not a big deal. Just sub or don't chat.

#57
Gotomaster said on June 28, 2013 at 10:07 p.m.

I don't know, but I have felt like all the exhibitions have been staged. Just feels like they are generating fake hype, which makes it hard to watch. Anyone else feel like that?

#59
chipndip said on June 28, 2013 at 10:27 p.m.

@60: If he doesn't have a job, then isn't that all the more reason to want MONEY for doing this to begin with? So he doesn't STARVE and he keep doing what he's been doing with the quality he's sustained? Now you're telling him how to live so you can have free chat, instead of him deciding that for himself? I swear, gamers act like everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. If it's that much of an issue down the road, he'd make it free chat again. But people watch his stream enough and sub enough for his method to be logical, so I don't see the problem.

Also, I'm not acting like it's just you. Like I said, stream monsterS (with an s for plural) are scum for taking advantage of someone in a professional position, jeering at him and expecting no backlash or reaction because he has to act professional to the monsters. Stream monsters shouldn't get away with saying he acted childish when they do on a regular basis, posting stupid gifs, porn/erotica sites, and penis pics out of text.

I'm just saying though.

#60
rudiano said on June 28, 2013 at 10:31 p.m.

@ majordog

spooky to lazy to get of his butt and get a real job, he streams for the attention because without that he is a nobody and has nothing in life to show for it. I saw sp00ky acting like a jackass in the stream, it was embarassing how low sp00ky has become and feels the need to do it on other peoples streams and then it backfires on him

@Major Dog: You blame Spooky for going into the stream chat and causing a riot, yet you always come to this site and start a riot about him charging stream monsters for chat. That is hypocrisy, and I wanted to point that out.

I hope Spooky can get all the money he can, doing what he is good at and what he loves. I for one don't chat so there is no need for me to pay for it, but if charges ppv, I probably would. To me FGC majors are better than the majority of sports I watch.

I missed the one moment that was probably the hypest moment so far with Mike Ross beating Yipes, smh work!

empholocaustlie said on June 29, 2013 at 1:29 a.m.

Spooky was trying to defend himself, but did it poorly. He even tried to talk smack about "09ers" aka the same people who got him to where he's at now. He's obviously not good with talking things out clearly, this has been something that spooky has been bad with for years. He's very insecure about himself (not saying that as an insult, but it shows) and anytime he's insulted he doesn't know how to react to it well other than what you saw in the stream chat today.

If spooky wants to make money, by all means I have no objection to him wanting to make some cash. That's the dream of every streamer making dat paper, and I'm glad he got a sponsorship with Madkatz. Even though Madkatz forces him to dress up in that ugly McDonalds-eqsue worker uniform during their streams, he's going somewhere and I'm happy for him, he really does deserve it after all these years. The whole subchat thing is more of he wants his chat to look respectable and if non-FGC/normal people come into his stream they won't be put off by people saying I WANNA FUG SHERRY IN THE BUTT!!! FUK BIFU etc etc. So I can understand that, making people pay a dollar keeps out those type of people because no one is going to waste real money just to troll a chat they'll be banned in after one comment. If he had explained it like that, instead of badmouthing his viewers, then it would of been ok. Even if he does like the money that goes along with it I honestly doubt, after twitch takes its cut, is very much considering paying for twitch turbo gets you access to every stream chat.

Also, CEO first day was great, can't wait for the next two days :D.

It doesn't matter who did what for who. You're not going to let someone talk shyt to you just because they did something in the past. Disrespect is disrespect. I wasn't in the chat because I watched on my X360, but this is a crazy notion. Doesn't matter who you are or what you've done; you don't have the right to talk crazy to people and go unscathed.

Major dog has a pathetic vendetta on spooky. Chatting sh:t till you get a reaction is the most school boy infitile thing a grown person can do. Then what do idiots say "OH look at spooky blowing up". Sign a petition or something but stop raising this like it's a big issue spooky deserves alot more money for what he does. Just enjoy the stream jacka$$es. Spooky is highly respected by adults in his field the people that don't always feel a need to leave dumba$s comments and spam in chat.

Was there actually an AE 3 on 3?

#92
Crysalim said on June 29, 2013 at 8:58 a.m.

One thing I never got was why IP bans aren't used on Twitch.

Spooky constantly got multiboxing trolls (single person using many accounts to copy paste garbage) that IP bans would have fixed so quick. There was a huge trend on all major FG streams of these one or two guys running bots to spam channels, and .. I honestly don't know if people were too stupid to mod? Twitch didn't give streamers the right tools? I don't know if Twitch doesn't want to give people that possibility of IP banning, or if it's there and people are too lazy to use it, or what.

But that was the end before Spooky went sub only. His channel turned into a lions den, it was really disgusting and not fun at all. Which is a shame tbh, subbing to a Twitch channel is a gigantic ripoff and I don't support any streams in this fashion, nor do I encourage others to do so (the only time I have donated to a stream was for Peaceful Jay, he put a lot of hard thankless work into what he did, and I simply just sent him money via PayPal).

Subbing on Twitch is a money grab, and it's a bit of a shame that the FGC abuses it because our game devs (Capcom, Namco, Aksys etc) look the other way. Nintendo is going to get a cut of ad revenue from Youtube videos that utilize their brand, for example - Notch was offered the same deal with Minecraft, but he turned it down. It's a bit of a free for all in how this is going to be handled in the future.

Monetization of video game streaming is still in its infancy, but this monthly sub BS is not going to last. True sponsorship is what drives major sports and we're seeing a lot of that happen, but the actual game devs need to step in - not just Madcatz accessories, not just PDP, not just Brokentier. We need the actual companies that make these games they play to step up and help us organize the events for them. Capcom and Namco, where are you at?

This will let the streamers like Spooky and Jay not have to nickel and dime the hell out of people with the (imo, mediocre) options Twitch provides.

@95 Better, they beat Team Age. @94 Spooky has Madcatz helping to sponsor him, he mostly does the subchat thing to keep trolls from spamming, and I say good for him. The sub-chat actually has funny things to say, other than just spamming links to dirty gif, and just spouting racism and sexism type jokes all over the place.
