Looks like a complete snooze-fest imo. Maybe I'm crazy but I'd rather see the best in the world compete if we're gonna have an exhibition. That's Japan and Asia by far. Not only that but I have no interest in any of the characters being played lol.

#9
F1T34H0N0R said on June 23, 2013 at 8:25 p.m.

Dont get me wrong i think it will be cool to see, but in an exhibition i think i would have rather seen the asian player, and or a versus the world setting, i think it will still be interesting but still i think adding daigo, justin, infiltration, ricky, etc. would have been fun, honestly i think the only ppl holding europe is ryan and luffy, the others are good but, diemnion, kbrad, latif, and pr.rog that will be hard to beat

I guess it will get some additional Euro viewers, but the'll get destroyed.

All that matters anymore is America vs. Infiltration and Wong vs. Daigo.

#14
Combofriend said on June 23, 2013 at 8:53 p.m.

Idk about Europe but for usas team I'd like to see this

Ricky Ortiz
Justin Wong
Alex Valle
PR Rog
Dieminion
Wolfkrone
Latif

#21
Kaizy said on June 23, 2013 at 9:35 p.m.

Why are you guys hating?

The idea is not only to have the strongest players of a region, but also the players who are really strong-but just not quite top level. This give a broader spectrum to compare the overall skill levels of the competing regions. This is also just another extra thing to watch, so what's there to complain about? I guarantee this will be in a salty suite type place, not the actual EVO stream.

#22
Shinebox said on June 23, 2013 at 9:37 p.m.

There's at least 4 strong players on each team so it's fine.

#23
Catalyst said on June 23, 2013 at 9:38 p.m.

Latif, PR Balrog, ChrisG and others were once unknown players until they had some chances to shine and become household names in the FGC.

While it's understandable you want to see your favorite players up there in exhibitions like this, please do keep in mind there's a lot of up and coming talent in the FGC and the players who are participating here are definitely quality guys — on both sides.

There's a good mix of well established players and up and comers here, so it should make for a solid event.

@13 Have you seen Marq Teddy play dudes a beast with Guy and a few weeks ago he lit up Mike Ross on WNF. Not only that Mike Ross bodied Australia and another continent on his own on stream today in Singapore. Watch more of Marq Teddy's matches hes the best Guy player ive seen of late.

#28

Did Dieminion choose the team himself as captain? Not to diss the players, and it's always cool to see some other folks get the spotlight, but you could fill a whole other usa 2 team of people like justin, ricky, snake-eyez, santhrax, sabin, mike ross and wolfkr0ne with each of them being arguably better than half of those actually on team usa.

Like I said, not to diss the players that made the team, just think it would be cool to get insight from the people that put this together on how/why they decided to build the teams. Should be a good match nonetheless.

#33
Santaclaus said on June 23, 2013 at 11:51 p.m.

So its 7 vs 7 instead of 10 v 10? Still pretty cool, though i had hoped alioune, popi and gagapa would be able to make it

#34
tandenengine said on June 24, 2013 at 12:06 a.m.

It's not the strongest team I can imagine for both continents so it should be interesting. Match-up wise, EU could struggle if they can't stop KBrads Cammy early.

#35
Jinbei2D said on June 24, 2013 at 12:17 a.m.

USA team is so much stronger, but even if i hate louffy's playstyle, i know he can destroy any players if he is in a good shape.

#36
Faralag said on June 24, 2013 at 12:18 a.m.

Ricky and justin are both playing like so many games at evo and justin might have some promo work or panels to attend to? So maybe not enough time to do the 7vs7

#37
Guitardude25 said on June 24, 2013 at 12:29 a.m.

@29

Too bad Luffy is French. At least we have a lot of African players who are playing, right? *sarcasm*

#38
pip said on June 24, 2013 at 1:05 a.m.

Thanks a lot to Ryan Hart to organize this event! The teams are quite interesting, with lot of different characters. I wish it were a 10 vs 10 with Justin Wong, Ricky Ortiz and Alex Valle for USA and Gagapa, Alioune, Popi for Europe, but better have a solid 7 vs 7 rather than no event at all.

#39
Sanox said on June 24, 2013 at 1:08 a.m.

europe where you are screwed if you are not sponsored by mcz.

you know stuff is messed up when they player that beat the currently best sf4 player cannot come to evo because of money.

#40

both sides bringing in their B-team, where's justin, alioune, alex valle, cuongster and more?

#41

#49
nebbiez said on June 24, 2013 at 4:49 a.m.

To all the Marq Teddy fans out there, I hate to disappoint you but he's gonna get lit up by the UK players who actually understand the Guy matchup properly. At least unless he's seriously changed his play style lately. Every time I've seen him win it's been through ridiculously unsafe pressure and run-slide focus cancel gimmicks. He'll be lucky to not get bodied. Dieminion and Chris G are the biggest threats on Team USA. Justin...please, his inclusion wouldn't change much. Shame to see Ricky's not taking part though. It will be close, but I think if Ryan and Luffy are on their A-game, Team EU might have this!

#50
SAMURAI said on June 24, 2013 at 5:21 a.m.

Don't know about this, this are B-teams (but all good players though). I was hoping for players like Gagapa, Cuongster, Alioune and Momi.

Anyway, 2Pac gonna hit 'em up!

#51
SAMURAI said on June 24, 2013 at 5:22 a.m.

And good that Problem X is going with Seth, way better than his Viper in my opinion.

#52
NYCraziSalvi516 said on June 24, 2013 at 5:29 a.m.

@50 Marq beat Ryan at WNF not too long ago and from what I heard, was beating him even more after during casuals. I used to underestimate him too but he's been showing that he can compete with anyone.

#53
renegade89 said on June 24, 2013 at 6:01 a.m.

Glad it's going down, but it does seem somewhat like a mismatch. Europe's missing Alioune and Popi; and USA, despite lack of Justin and Ricky, are still rolling with Latif, K-Brad, ChrisG and Dieminion... Though I hope otherwise, I foresee an unmitigated beatdown...

#54
ovipositor said on June 24, 2013 at 6:10 a.m.

Hype, really looking forward to this one.

#55
ShakeTheWorm said on June 24, 2013 at 6:12 a.m.

I would have said "USA will win. Free" if they had other players (No Justin or Ricky ?!) but I can't say "Europe will win. Free" for the same reasons. It's going to be interesting anyway, I really wanna see Luffy vs. USA players.

#56
AlterHowdegen said on June 24, 2013 at 6:16 a.m.

This is going to be hype. Those are all really good players, they might not be as well known as Daigo and Justin, but they are still leagues above your average online warriors or even tournament regulars. So stop hating and root for your team, props to Ryan for the effort. Asia vs EU vs US next year, somebody make it happen!

#57
disp said on June 24, 2013 at 6:26 a.m.

I feel that they'll all lose to Marq Teddy, no one has matchup experience against Guy.

#58
Ramparts said on June 24, 2013 at 6:47 a.m.

ProblemX might give the east-coast players a lot of trouble because they don't have OnlineTony to practice against. Is there an east-coast Seth?

#59
NYCraziSalvi516 said on June 24, 2013 at 6:55 a.m.

@59 There are east coast seth players but most of them are not from NY and the only seth in NY doesn't go to next level.

Ryan Hart and Luffy have been playing very well as of late. They apply their match-ups very well. I expect they'll make a difference for EU. For US, big bets on PR Balrog to make the difference. I like the fact that the teams seem balanced and this exhibition could go either way!
