EVO 2013 hype introduction videos for all nine featured titles released online

Posted by Nicholas 'MajinTenshinhan' Taylor • July 18, 2013 at 7:57 a.m. PDT
If you were watching EVO this last weekend, you likely did not miss the introduction videos for each title present, but just in case you did, or you just feel like rewatching them, they've all been released online now, courtesy of iplaywinner, we'll have them all linked right below.

The games featured were Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee, King of Fighters 13, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Street Fighter X Tekken v2013, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Persona 4: Arena and Mortal Kombat. We'll start you off right here, with the introduction video for Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v2012, which covers the history of the title at EVO, and the road that has led the game's scene to where it is now.

All of the videos were created by the amazing Seth Mussey, and feature music from various artists, credited in each respective video.

Hit the jump for the hype videos for the rest of the games.

Next up we have the introductory video for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, viewed by many as the most hype game at EVO, with a video that certainly doesn't let the hype die.

With its grand return to the big scene, Super Smash Bros. Melee turned a lot of heads, and this trailer gives a great view of why the game deserves the big spotlight it has returned to. Top 8 commentator Prog said it best when he said that "This is the game that lived".

King of Fighters 13 had an early showing this year, but it not only warmed up the audience, but rather lighted the entire audience ablaze with hype. To go with these amazing matches, this finely-crafted intro did its job in getting everybody warmed up for what was about to occur.

With Injustice: Gods Among Us being the newest game featured at EVO 2013, it got a lot of attention, and even a new character reveal from Ed Boon himself. To go with this, here's the hype video with footage from various Road to EVO tournaments, all leading up to the glorious event itself.

While the rest of the games didn't get to play out on Sunday, they weren't any less exciting because of it. Street Fighter X Tekken had a strong showing, being the only game to finish on Saturday, and here's a quick snippet of why it's a game that has returned from the dead.

As for the games that finished the first day, they had a lot to show as well. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 brought a lot of surprises and exciting moments, with this video to lead in to all of the madness.

Persona 4: Arena appeared at EVO for the first time this year, and boy, what a showing it was. With all of the craziness present during this Top 8, it almost feels like this hype video didn't manage to do it all justice... Which is saying a lot, for a video of this caliber.

Finally, rounding out the games of EVO 2013, we have the last of the first-day games, being Mortal Kombat. While it had the least amount of entrants this year, staying a 3rd year at EVO is no small feat. Enjoy this video, which just might be the swan song for this particular title at EVO... Although you never know what next year will bring.

I love the KOF trailer, but he put Takuma on the wrong team....

Marvel and AE were the most solid, but intros alone aren't what make top8 hype. all of the games had great moments, and a lot of sad moments too.

@Venom and Kinoslayer I don't think the guy knows much about KOF, so for what he was able to do with the knowledge he had it was fairly good

@Shinzo
Yeah but for as hype as KoF was last year you'd think he would find a way to fit in some of that hype highlight reel footage in there like what was done with Marvel and Street Fighter. Instead it was just a bunch of team shots. :/
@Rakuku
Agreed although I feel that with Marvel the lyrics could get kinda hokey and lame at some times, and the refrain went on one time to many. Had he cut it at the verse where he said "marvel vs capcom 3" and let it fade to the stadium shot it would have been perfect. Also does anyone know if that was yipes on vocals or not?

The marvel video was easily the best. Some videos were a little underwhelming when it comes to hype, but Seth Mussey did an awesome job nonetheless. The editing was on point!

Nice, but I think all main Evo games should get the same attention and effort as AE & Marvel for their hype videos, and maybe consult some actual fans of the non Capcom games to make them better.

My list on the best intros:

1. UMvC3
2. P4A (in before stupid comment :P )
3. SSBM
4. SFxT
5. KoF XIII
6. SSF4 AE (felt too long)
7. MK9
8. Injustice (compilation of videos)
9. TTT2 (compilation of videos)

He did a really good job though, probably the best year for intros.

As for the KoF Takuma error, I think it was just a copy-and-paste error for Fatal Fury.

The Street Fighter One was really nice. Marvel was also really cool. I really like the music of the Smash Bros. video. F Zero ftw xD

did any of these have red rapper in them? i actually liked the umvc3 one. the problem with red rapper is that he has so much conviction in his voice, yet he's talking about video games. doesn't seem lame to you? replace video games with any other sport or game i.e. football, chess, and then tell me it's not lame.

P4A video > KOFXIII > The rest

"It's gonna happen!?! IT'S GONNA HAPPEN!" I was so hype after that. only one that got me going again

AE was so hype when they played that at EVO. Daigo vs Justin, Daigo vs Ricky, Daigo was so unbeatable back then.

Marvel's was easily the best, in my opinion. A little disappointed with P4A's, since I'm a huge Persona fan.

@Kino-What do you mean? Everybody was in their respecting teams, including Takuma.

He's from AOF Team, with Ryo and Robert.

Bar none,Marvel Hype intro is the best.Closely followed by AE....very closely.

@25 (Strider_Hien), that part was correct but look at the Fatal Fury Team. Like I said before, it could be a copy-paste error.

Seth Mussey is a master at making high quality hype videos. I enjoyed all of these, the Marvel one in particular.

I actually really liked the SFxTk video. No idea when the hell they played that game, though. Seemed like it was over before anything really started.

For me... smash and marvel are de hypest, which also describes the tournament for me as well.
How smash didn't make it into evo in the past is a mystery to me now. lol
