Ultra Street Fighter 4's fifth character is 'very much related to Street Fighter'

Ultra Street Fighter 4's fifth character is 'very much related to Street Fighter' Narrowing down the range of who he 5th character could be in Ultra Street Fighter 4, Capcom's David "Dawgtanian" Hinds left a note on his Twitter account stating that the unannounced character is very much related to Street Fighter.

A community member was worried that this new fighter would be in a vein similar to Cole (Street Fighter X Tekken), Mega Man or Asura. Hinds had this to say.

Thujal: Terrified the 5th character is going to be another Cole / Mega Man / Asura and not related to Street Fighter. And Dinosaur stage? In Street Fighter? Really?!?

David Hinds: It's very much related to Street Fighter, so you won't need to worry.

Earlier today it was discovered that the 5th unannounced character in Ultra Street Fighter 4 had never been in a fighting game before, which means people like Mike Haggar and others who'd been in the Vs. series were out of the running — as this individual would be making their fighting game debut.

Man CAPCOM is really trying to build up the mystery of this 5th character and boy are lots of people going to be disappointed when they find out who it is. Why? Because that's how it always is when a character for a fighting game is released. Some people will be fine with it but a good majority will be complaining.

If is was CAPCOM I would've already announced the character from the beginning because the longer the mystery the more people are going to be disappointed. I can already hear the complaints really CAPCOM that's your mystery character blah blah blah.

The smart thing to do would to at least release two of them but oh well.

It would be cool, at least for me to see another hybrid character, one who uses both charge and motion special moves. Either that, or a charge based Muay Thai boxer would be neat. I'm more interested in how he/she plays than how they look to be honest.

I think it'll be someone story-line related to one of the established characters already. Could be one of Delta Red, a doll, Ibuki's teacher. That kind of thing. Long shot - Sadler or his creation massive man thingy.

My only guesses at this point is either a concept character like King Cobra being brought to life or a Final Fight character that we've yet to see in anything else. So basically no one that showed up in Final Fight Revenge. If it's not either of those then I am completely stumped.

King Cobra WAS Rufus. The moveset, early voice clips, and some of the backstory (obsessed with Ken) all belonged to him originally, but along the development process his appearance was drastically changed to the Rufus we see now. Still, it'd be great to see King Cobra as he was originally intended to look like as the new character. I for one would welcome it.

Im guessing that it could be King Cobra, Go Hibiki, Sheng Long, or possibly a special guest from another recent Capcom game (Nilin from Remember Me for example)

Most people say it's "Mike Haggar" but having Zangief in the game just throws that option out, why have 2 characters with almost the same move list we have shoto-clones why introduce Zangief-clones. I hope it's a revamped King Cobra the concept was great and it will be a wonderful tribute to Jim Kelly's character in Enter the Dragon.

That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense as Mel was like 8-9 years old in SFIII. So he would be a lot younger than that in SFIV's plot line. But it is Capcom lol - They may have some stupid story where a grown, very experienced Mel Masters travels back in time via a S.I.N. Tech time machine to warn his father of some bullsh-t!

You guys kill me with this clone non-sense lol. Just because they share the same move commands doesn't mean they will play exactly the same. I can think of a ton of variations to make Haggar's move set unique (CAPCOM can as well) - Not to mention the man has a PIPE. Gief ain't got no pipe.

Only three that fit this bill are:
Carlos Miyamoto (only one of the final fight heores that has not been in a fighting game period). Even the Mad Gear gang appeared in sfxt in the back ground.

Goutetsu (Ok all we have missing is the master of the masters....which is him). I figured why not have the master of Akuma and Gouken in the game. They could create a unique shoto that is truly his own.

Mel (Yeah he is a kid but no sense in waiting till sf5 to pull him out. Or should they wait)?

I can't think of anyone other than Nero from Devil May Cry 4. I might be wrong, but it works for many reasons.

1) He's a Capcom character.
2) He has never been in a fighting game before.
3) He is related to Street Fighter because his grab moves in DMC4 are references to T.Hawk and Zangief.
4) Dante and Vergil were both in UMvC3, adding Nero to a fighter wouldn't feel too out of place.

Nero's inclusion could be possible advertising for DMC5, something Capcom thought about when making the Devil May Cry reboot.

Or I could be totally wrong. We'll find out soon I hope.

I'm hoping for Tom, Alex's mentor in SF3, who will play similar to Alex with his moveset and physical build. Tom would help bridge the gap between SF4 and SF3 storywise as well.

I really hope it isn't Goutetsu, Akuma/Gouken's master and another Shoto clone.

3) If it ends up being Go Hibiki, hmmmm. Idk how to feel about that. If he's like Takuma from KOF he'd be sick! But I can't help feel it diminishes Sagat and Dan's rivalry.
