Darkstalkers Resurrection patch adds sound cues for online mode, AFK lobby kicking and various bug fixes A new patch for Darkstalkers Resurrection has been released. It's a 6 MB download on Xbox Live and adds some sound cues for online match making, auto-booting of people who go AFK in lobbies, defaults the stage selection to random and a few other odds and ends as well.

It also introduces some bug fixes so that you have a smoother experience overall. Hit the jump to read the notes.

Greetings fellow humans! Tomoaki Ayano here!

The annual rainy season in Japan is finally over! And two weeks earlier than usual, no less. But now it’s so hot and muggy, you could literally suffocate in this heat! Everyone please be sure to drink plenty of fluids and keep hydrated! I know it’s easy to lose track of yourself while playing fighting games, but heat stroke can affect you while indoors as well. Be careful!

Anyway, the long-awaited patch for Darkstalkers Resurrection will go online today, July 12th (Japan Standard Time)! I’d like to use today’s blog to talk about part of what will be fixed in the patch.

• After being matched up with another player online, if a player doesn’t indicate they’re ready to start playing after 30 seconds they’ll be automatically kicked out of the lobby.

This is to help make things move a little more smoothly if a player falls asleep at the controls or leaves their seat for awhile. A player who has been kicked from the session will be returned to the title screen.

• A chime will sound upon successfully finding an opponent. This will let you go do other things while waiting to be matched up with another player.

• The stage select option before a match will default to random. Even if you’re just mashing on the confirm button to get into the fight as soon as possible, you’ll still be able to enjoy playing on different stages.

• The tips displayed at the bottom of the screen have been randomized. Before they always started with Jon Talbain’s mom.

• CPU difficulty settings have been added to Training Mode. Just like arcade mode you will be able to set the difficulty level of your CPU opponent.

The following is a list of bug fixes.

• The startup frames for Huitzil’s guard cancel moves have been fixed.

• The knockdown properties of Huitzil’s jump medium punch have been fixed so that the opponent is downed from where they stood.

• You can perform a normal move on the second frame of Huitzil’s air dash – Huitzil will attack while rapidly descending.

• The problem where the Start button color could not be selected has been fixed.

For more details on the patch please see the Darkstalkers Resurrection official home page (Japanese only).

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!

Although I don't play Darkstalkers; I appreciate his kind words for everyone regarding heat stroke and keeping hydrated. Someone with something OTHER than business on their mind, very humanistic!

Thank you for those Huitzil fixes. Too bad everyone on XBL plays 3. Unless things have shifted since I've last played.

This is good news, but what ever happened to the Third Strike patch?

Glad to see. It is hard to find a match which is tragic because this game is god like.

@2 That's because hardly anyone is playing it anymore but in the beginning you could find matches almost instantly. Love DSR but I feel these patches for DSR/SF3OE are to little to late.

For 3s to be a street fighter game its online isn't THAT much more busy than DSR. The games are just old.

@9 Both online communities have considerably died down which is why it's taking you so long to find matches in DSR.

You just gotta add people you find on DSR these days to keep up with playing it

Besides the Huitzil patches, this was kind of useless. I wish they could have patched some of the more important features, like the game picking game speeds at random, online.

DS fans exposed. years ago boldly proclaiming how much they'd support this. less than a year after it was officially released, its dead.

jojo and 3TSoe is more alive than this.

That's a lie and it's shameful because 3Soe and JoJO are just as dead as DSR and VSav is MUCH older than those games.

Jojo's is dead af. 3SOE on the other hand ALWAYS has ppl playing. Im speaking about PSN, i have no idea how it is for XBL.

3S is dead compared to MVC2, easily. And all the old games are dead compared to MVC3 and SFIV.

3S may be relatively lively compared to Darkstalkers (it should be, 3S got released on EVERY CONSOLE, VSAV has only seen a decent release on the PS2 and that was in Japan), but by no means are enough people playing 3S for the game to be relevant at all.

lol So yeah, 3S is the 2nd least dead game of all the old dead games. The game everyone played has a few more people online then the EVEN OLDER game, no one got a chance to play. Hope you clowns are proud of yourselves. Like I said, the games are just old.

@21 who are you calling a clown? i havent said anyting disrespectful to you so i hope thats not directed towards me. And im not denying that these games arent old and/or less popular. Im just saying there is a good amount of ppl playing on 3SOE.
