Law corner restand infinite discovered in Street Fighter X Tekken, works on most normal sized characters

Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • July 4, 2013 at 6:02 p.m. PDT
Doopliss sent us a new Street Fighter X Tekken infinite that he discovered using Law and a cornered opponent.

Using the last hit of his Left Right Blazing Fist Combo on an airborne opponent causes a restand state. By quickly whiffing the two B+MP inputs in the chain and connecting the last hit, Law can set up an infinite combo that works on most normal sized characters.

You can easily combo into this off of a tag cancel or if you have on bar of meter with Law. Check out this new Law infinite combo below.

Do you think this Law infinite will come into play by the time EVO rolls around next Friday? Let us know in the comments below.

...So HOW many nails is that now?

Doopliss said on July 4, 2013 at 6:09 p.m.

Well, "easily". The restand is definitely not easy to do. Don't know why, but it rarely works the way you want it to. At least this training mode recording proves it's not random, if you can produce the exact same situation mutiple times, it will always work.

@ Doopliss

Right. I meant that it's easy to set up as in off of a basic tag cancel, (as shown in the video). But it definitely looks difficult to hit consistently.

SFxT gets a infinite just like every other game but watch it get singled out as far as criticism goes.

@DreamKing:
Yeah, it sure is. That's what makes it so scary. IF it's possible to get good enough at this combo to land multiple reps consistently, Law is gonna be ridiculous. Best thing about the combo is that you can't be punished if you drop it (Unless you time the flip kick horribly wrong), since you will just fail the restand and they'll land normally. So it's basically no risk, high return.

@4: This one is a lot easier to set up, and seems to work on more characters, than your average glitch-in-the-system infinite. Law was also seen as one of the best characters already. It's basically as if Akuma still had the s.LP, s.HK loop in SFIV.

Do people wait right before evo to release some new "tech"? remember last year it was like a week before evo 2012 there were the infinites and that escape glitch in UMVC3.

Anyway considering how much people use Law I'm sure some people are already practicing it but who knows maybe the EVO Crew may ban it.

@ Doopliss

Yeah man, very good find. Great stuff. Law is already a damn strong character in SFxT AFAIK, so it'll be interesting to see which top players start using this. Or if anyone will begin playing Law because of the infinite.

Doopliss said on July 4, 2013 at 6:17 p.m.

@6: I just found this, being close to EVO is just a coincidence.

If law wasn't good enough! lol.

VerZioN said on July 4, 2013 at 6:24 p.m.

@Doopliss Oh no my bad, I meant it in a joking manner sorry. I'm not saying that you had it and just decided to show it, its just really funny to me that there was something last year and now it happens again thats all.

ResidentSleeper x 1,000,000 if Evo doesn't ban this.

Is it me, or is it weird that the play clock keeps resetting? Wouldn't that make it fake? I'm not near the game right now to test it. So idk looks fishy just cause of the clock. Seems like some editing. I very well could be wrong.

Infinite discovered in SFxT? People crying to patch it in 3....2....1....

In all seriousness though, definitely a nice find. Good stuff Doopliss!

@SteadiestShark. Touché.

#14
Doopliss said on July 4, 2013 at 6:28 p.m.

@11: Well, in general, I guess people spend more time in training mode before big tournaments, which is why you get a higher flow of new tech.

@13: That's just from the training recording replaying over and over. Clock resetting = recording starts over, noting fishy about that. You'd have to have some extreme execution to pull this off 33 times in a row by hand.

Wow no PC mod costumes this time?

And I knew Law was good, but now he's even better.

I'm thinking in perspective of a player using this tech. Since it's an infinite, damage-scaling would make this weak? And the chances are, the player will drop the infinite eventually (<99hit). So unless they started off well in the match, it is the only reason to use it. Good luck playing catching up with HP on that one!

#23
Doopliss said on July 4, 2013 at 6:43 p.m.

@24: The combo is like 70 seconds long. If you have an HP lead and you land it, you win by time out. It probably builds a lot of meter. It seems to deal about 700-750 damage total. And like I mentioned before, you're not risking anything if you drop it. There are definitely reasons to use it. You can also go for a reset at any of the restands, forcing your opponent to stay focused throughout.

So how reliable is this for tourney play? Because if its easy to do, Sethlololol's chances of winning evo just went up.

People always wait for EVO to release tech to avoid bans because EVO is always more exciting with gimmicks.

Sethlolol confirmed winner of SfxT at Evo 2013.

EVO should let it rock, probably the last year for SFXT at EVO anyway.

I wonder if this can kill with Damage gems + Pandora.
That would be pretty good.

This is especially dangerous in a game where time is such an important factor. You could seal the round with an entire minute left.

Evo has been quick to ban things lately so I'm sure this will also get the ban. Would of been awesome to see someone timer scam at Evo with this or just all out cheese anyone they fight with it.

All of the hate the game would get would of been awesome.

Zanpakto said on July 4, 2013 at 8:58 p.m.

I could see this ban!

1- Here reason to patch this game among the other bugs like Paul.

If this doesn't get ban then its about time law win a major without having a Bear has his partner :P

Wow just when you thought tekken side wouldnt need any thing like this to make the game even worse! Lol nice

#39
Doopliss said on July 4, 2013 at 11:40 p.m.

@27: That's something you have to live with when you try to keep things like this a secret. Ot's not like it matters anyway, almost any hit in the corner can potentially lead to this with one bar.

@36: I want to hear about that after EVO.

Skye said on July 5, 2013 at 1:23 a.m.

Like Law wasnt broken enough already. Well regardless I really do hope this pushes Capcom to do one last patch for SFxT. All I want to see is the top tier character just nerfed a little, not to make them bad but to make them fair. Jin, Chun, Law, Nina, Hwaorang...maybe Lli and Kazuya and I'll be a happy camper.

#41
BlankaBeast said on July 5, 2013 at 7:20 a.m.

Nerf Law and Nina.

@35 Exactly if it was an issue they'd ban the character not limit how you play a particular character. That would just be dumb to ban the combo and not the character.
