I really think a F2P model for fighting games going into the future is something that should be explored. To justify a 60 dollar game you have to put a huge amount of resources into them. Fighting games is a genre that I feel personally doesn't get hurt if it doesn't have a lot of features, or a lot of characters, or even amazing graphics.

Businesses next gen will start seeking different models like F2P or maybe even just lower budget 30 dollar games, it will be interesting to see where fighting games have their place.

Hopefully Capcom still realizes that they have potential to make profit, and Marvel 3 / SFxT only did poorly because they were bad games. They seem to have forgotten that games need to be good to sell, looking at you RE6

Awesome it come 1 million sales. I'm really enjoying Tekken Revolution. Can't wait for more stuff tomorrow.

@8 For MVC3 & SFXT, I wouldn't jump to conclusion saying their bad games. Because honestly MVC3 & SFXT weren't really bad games, but Capcom's execution wasn't the finest. For MVC3 or UMVC3 part of the game in general is very unbalanced and is way too spam friendly, but has a good game mechanic in its own right, and the release of UMVC3 was just bad decisions since MVC3 original didn't get a proper updates nor release the DLC content in MVC3 original. Heck even Capcom will never release an Update Disc again.

Then SFXT in general they had a very solid gameplay concept and interesting features like the Gem system, however what really prevents SFXT to be the best is Capcom's execution with the game overall. Because there was plenty unbalance with the game & characters, and the SFXT didn't get a proper beta test with the glitches and Rolento's infamous glitch that freezes the game.

If MVC3 & SFXT got Arcade releases or Beta release (outside of important gaming conventions) before a console release, then MVC3 & SFXT would've at least been better than their releases. This is why SFIV was the best because that game had Arcades.

I think honestly in general the gaming marketing in general is very terrible and parts are the reasons why Capcom in general is not making proper executions. Just saying

@12 Honestly that reason on the FGC only support Capcom games isn't honestly the full reason on why TTT2 sold poorly. Part of TTT2 poor sales in general is that many causal players of today in general find fighter games in general too hard to play, and they would be easily turned away from fighter games in general. Heck players in general just can't get into Tekken's complex mechanics or just don't want to improve their fighter skills. Heck many certain Western gamers would choose to play a shooter game and would ignore fighter games.

Another thing is that most Japanese gamers would play TTT2 on Arcades and not play it on consoles, since Japanese gamers play their games on the Arcades. Heck TTT2 for Xbox 360 really doesn't help TTT2 sales at all with the Japanese market. (which Xbox in general was never a huge seller in Japan) Even DOA5 for PS3 sold more than TTT2 for PS3.

Heck not everybody is into Tekken or maybe they are a fan of Tekken but their mindset seems to be focused on certain titles that don't relate to Tekken nor fighters.

This virtual F2P policy will someday bite our tooshies hard...very hard.At least there are great fighting changes from TTT2.

Are these the only two characters being added? That's....a little disappointing. I'm fine with Jin but...Xiaoyu? Meh. Where's Nina? Where's Yoshi? I dunno. I guess i never really thought she was that big of a favorite.

Glad this game is doing so well, it's a pretty fun game if you haven't gave it a knock yet with the added bonus of being free. I honestly don't know why Jin wasn't available from the start but he's in so eh. Who I want though is my Julia/Jaycee.

@8 The fact you said MVC3/UMVC3 is a bad game just kind of killed anything else you had to say. You can say whatever SFXT even I do kinda like the game still, but dumping on MVC is pure nonsense.

SFIV: 3.1 million units by March 2011
SSFIV: 1.8 million units, in addition to 400,000 of the Arcade Edition, by December 2011
MVC3: As of March 2011, the game has sold 2 million units
UMVC3: By March 2012, the game sold 600,000 units
SFXT: As of March 31, 2012, Street Fighter X Tekken has sold 1.4 million units worldwide
TTT2: As of January 2013, 1.35 million copies

I stopped playing tekken and picked up vf. I can't imagine myself going back to tekken unless some radical changes are made. Although those changes won't necessarily be the best thing to get sales. If theres no bound i think i might try it who knows

#39
Loryuo said on July 1, 2013 at 9:20 p.m.

Tekken Revolution doesn't have bound, unless you count moves with built in bound mechanics while on the ground.
