PR Balrog discusses adjustments he made against ChrisG at SCR, anti-Phoenix strategies

Recapping the events at SoCal Regionals 2013, Evil Geniuses' Eduardo "PR Balrog" Perez went into detail about the exhibition and grand finals match up he had against AGE's ChrisG in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Perez discusses the adjustments he made in that set, and also talks about some anti-Phoenix approaches he's using. Here's a snip from the write up.

Vandole: After your close first to 10 with Chris G exhibition match you proceeded to beat him 3-1 in grand finals. What mental changes did you make that night allowing you to net such a decisive win?

PR Balrog: I knew that my problem against Chris was my execution so fixing that was the key. I think that my play style is really hard for him to deal with because of the fact that Dr. Dooms beam assist lets me do whatever I want with wolverine, also I know how to deal against the bullet hell that he throws at his opponents so I think he was a little bit surprised on how patient I was since I’m known to be a player with no patience player.

Vandole: You did very well against your ex roommate coL|Filipino Champ! Your anti-phoenix tech seems to be just snap Jean in until she is dead. Why isn’t snapping in a strong anchor such as Vergil and strider more prevalent in Marvel? What situations do you personally feel it should be used in?

PR Balrog: I think because the fact that blocking Phoenix is actually ten times harder than blocking Vergil in the incoming mix up is what makes me snap her in more than anyone in the game. I feel that I can deal with Vergil since my other ex roommate Shady K uses him and he was the one that taught me Vergil and his randomness so I know what Vergil can or cannot do and Strider is just situational because it depends if I have X-Factor or not.

@6 Chris Free? I don't like the MorriDoom team myself, but he's anything but free. Just like #1 is probably butt hurt over Chris losing, you're butt hurt over all the winning he's been doing. And if I'm not mistaken, 2nd place is a fine finish.

Good stuff to Rog. Been watching him level up his game from the start. Force to be reckon with.

More chris g hate as usual people were complaining about wolverine not so long ago but marvel at scr was hype in general chris g's matches included. Marlinpie played extremely well to beat chris g thats why i like chris cause if u beat him u deserve it. I would rather have a leveled up prrog than a gimmicky one.
