Was just about to send this news in lol. This looks amazing, wish it were a psn/xbla game too.
bout freaking time i wanted to play this for ever.
@5
Yes, there's a story. It's basically SRW with Capcom, Namco, and Sega characters instead of robots. The only thing it has in common with fighting games (aside from a handful of characters) is the juggles and combos.
@6
Not quite, It's turn-based in the chess style sense, not like Final Fantasy. There's a player turn, where you move your characters on a grid-map and attack enemies. Think like FF Tactics, Disgaea, SRW, or Fire Emblem. The combat itself involves you doing combos and juggles. Then the enemy gets a turn to do the same. Dunno if that is more up your alley or not, but it's not a FF game in the slightest.
@9
The "prequel" you are referring to is Namco x Capcom. The only similarities are that it's the same development team. Consider this a spiritual successor and not a true sequel. Having played through Namco x Capcom I can tell you that you do not need to know anything about it to enjoy this new game. :)
I can't wait to play this! X and Zero's tag combo is sick.
So glad my parents bought me a surprise 3DS.
This game is going to make my year.
@10 Oh ok that might be a little better. I hate FF because they make you sit there and PICK your attacks rather than doing them. I'm not saying make FF into a button masher like DmC or God of war, but geez, FF is one boring game. So when I hear "Turn based RPG" I immediately reject it. I know that really bad prejudice but....
Seriously I wasnted to play chess I'd go play it. There are other ways in making gameplay smarter and I dont think turn based is the right way.
I'm getting my 3DS soon and some games coming are only making the investment seem more and more worth it!
@24
You're not alone, but you are the minority.
This is fantastic news. Better dust off the 3DS.
Those are some suggestive screenshots... :p
This looks really cool, but unfortunately I don't have a 3DS.
Well i'm glad that i bought a 3DS. Can't wait to play this and luigis mansion 2.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!i was just complaining about how they never bring good games to america!
The fact that X and Zero's theme is the opening stage from X4 made me need to buy new pants.
dude they need to call this project 9.5 zone it needs to be patched. lets twitter the head of x zone games and make it happen people! it is sooooo BS that the start button is OP dude wtf?! I propose -2 on start button so you can cancel into option mode and set voices to JP before tutorial. ................(just kidding but really hearing this in US voice is like a fan nightmare come true)
titile of this game makes me say street fighter ten tekken
@13 & 14: This game has always been a 3DS game... unless this is actually the first time either of you have heard about it? There was a huge push to try and get this game released outside of Japan to begin with, but I guess that won't stop people from complaining about it being on 3DS. Because hating on Nintendo is the "cool" thing to do nowadays, it seems.
Finally! So glad to hear its coming over here. Now for the Phoenix Wright game
See Namco, you have fans all over the world and the last thing you don't need is them flaming you having certain big games only in Japan. I am happy that I'm able to have this in my 3DS collection.
Im super hyped for this game! Day one for sure^_^
@47
Most likely going to be English letters with Japanese dialogue. I doubt they are going to get all the voice actors to do this in English, it's too much.
And yet it isn't a fighting game: makes me wonder if there was bias in not posting my X-Men story. Curious.
At any case, this game looks about as interesting as Cross Edge or Namco x Capcom; which is, to say, not very interesting beyond the character selection.
jeez well this is a cliche but haters gonna hate last 4 are salty stay salty my friends.
@50
Don't be so sure. Even low budget games get English VAs nowadays. This game will likely follow suit.
@64
Once again, this game has no similarities to Final Fantasy. It's not even a traditional JRPG like some people are assuming. It's a tactical RPG. Like Fire Emblem, FFT, SRW, Disgaea, etc.
Was hoping this would be for PS Vita also since I was already strongly thinking about purchasing one even though they're kinda sucky right now but I can manage with SF x Tk & UMVC3, hopefully we SSF4 for it one day too. I don't see myself buying anymore Nintendo related handhelds soooo, o'well...
@37
I did know about this game, but I didn't know it was on 3DS. Namco X Capcom was on PS2, so I assumed this game was getting a console release also.
I'm not hating on the 3DS or Nintendo, I still play SSBB on my Wii from time to time, it's just that the 3DS doesn't really appeal to me, or portable gaming in general nowadays. My PSP hasn't been used for the best part of 5 years.
I just traded my 3DS for a PS3 last week because I thought this would never come out in Europe. Other than this and Castlevania there was nothing even worth a look anyway.
From what I've seen of this game. Check out Cross Edge for PS3 and JP junkbox 360. kinda similar and it has 5 Darkstalkers in it.
