PlayStation Magazine confirms Aquaman as playable character, additionally confirms inclusion of Black Adam, Ares and others

Some characters that have been mentioned in the @Gamer magazine as being seen in the game are once again being mentioned in this month's edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine Australia.

Black Adam and Ares are both now mentioned in conjunction with Shazam, Sinestro, Doomsday and Aquaman.

The magazine specifically mentions Aquaman as a "star" in the game.

Let's address the 6'11", 325lb fish-man-shaped elephant in the room straight away. Aquaman is going to start in the next fighting game being made by Mortal Kombat creators, NeatherRealm along side Batman, Superman, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and a clutch of other the famous superheroes and villains from the DC stable.

Love these characters, especially hyped for Aquaman! Hope they have his New 52 look.

2 concerns: (1) Where are the ladies? This game is becoming a sausage fest. (2) Why has there not been any game play demos recently? The lack of viewable content is concerning.

lol, Aquaman. I can't take that character seriously no matter how important they try to make him. Too bad this isn't a tag game so we could have Aquaman and Penguin working as a team

I'm worried we won't see any Mr Frieze, Power Girl, or Zatana at this rate. Not like there aren't already enough good characters though

Some of you guys are still to suck on the Aquaman from decades ago. Present Aquaman is no different than Namor, who isn't laughable; he's been this way for years now.

Black Adam news is excellent news! If he's in, this game will be almost perfect!

With Aquaman, the roster count is now at 17 out of 24 (counting the Doomsday leak as well). If Shazam, Black Adam, Ares, and Sinestro are also playable and not just story characters, that leaves only 3 spots left. We also have Powergirl, Lobo, Swamp-Thing, and Dr. Fate hints & rumors. Of those 4, I'm guessing Dr. Fate will probably be the odd-man out since they've been picking mostly mainstream and more well-known characters.

All in all this would be a fairly solid roster; I would have preferred a couple more obscure and lesser-known characters to get a chance in the spotlight but eh, not a big loss.

That is true, but for DLC you have to consider that they'd likely pick characters that would sell. Meaning, guys like Dr. Fate may get shafted either way...

Enough dudes! This game needs more ladies already. Outside of the first castes characters, the rest of the reveals have been male characters. This roster is looking to be like UMvC3 where the girl to guy ratio is like 1:9. That being said, I want HawkGirl >:O

If Black Adam is added in the game, then most definitely Captain Marvel will be as well. I can only wish they put in Swamp Thing, Dr.Fate( Or Zantanna), Lobo, Firestorm, Azrael and Captain Atom. If either one of these are added then I am completely satisfied.

Aquaman in the New 52 is great, nice story, great artwork, i love the new Aquaman comics. I don't think people should not like him, he just wasn't represented and portrayed how he should until now. He should rock in this game!

@cnorw00d Lol if the final boss is Emperor Joker I don't see how the heroes are going to take him down seeing as the scope of reality warping he can do thanks to taking Mr.Mxy's powers. I'm happy with the inclusion of Aquaman and Black Adam, Aquaman definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm still looking for Alan Scott, Nekron, Larfleeze, Phantom Stranger, Mordru, Pied Piper, Sodom Yat, Dr.Fate, and Darkseid to name a few. I completely agree with the inclusion of more female characters outside of the usual's that are chosen. Lady Shiva, Black Canary, Zatanna, Circe, Ravager, Big Barda, Cheetah, Morgana Le Fay, Donna Troy, and Super/Power girl are more than applicable choices.
