Nintendo Power was a monthly news and strategy magazine that began it's publication in the Summer of 1988. After almost 25 years and over 250 issues, the magazine released it's final issue last month and will no longer be published.

We have gathered together some of the awesome issue covers that featured fighting games we know and love.

What were some of your favorite memories of Nintendo Power growing up? Leave your comments below.

I wonder, if they ever did created Mortal Kombat Vs Street Fighter how would it be like. Is there gonna be blood? is there gonna be fatalities or brutalities?

Just when I thought I had buried my grief, you had to ressurect this story. Fliping through the Classifieds for Rouge Squadron cheats. Checking every issue to see if anything had toppled OoT on that one chart. *sob*

Yeah man, this blows big time!

So many great Nintendo Power memories. I still remember getting that first issue, and I still have it. Super Mario 2 on the cover.

As a kid I just relished getting a new issue. I even loved the smell of the magazine! It feels like something special has been lost:(

The huge presence of the Internet is kind of killing print media now.

Nintendo Power was cool and all, loved getting posters in every issue... but c'mon, EGM, best video game magazine.

It had Sushi-X.

Biggest joke of a video game magazine though is Game Players.

They really knew next to nothing about fighting games looking back at them.

@8
What are they even saying in that MK preview? Combos aren't different because you use the same buttons?

Basically, Game Players believed MK3 was the same as MK2 and thought the run+dial combo's did nothing to innovate the game.

Which is laughable, because that addition completely changed the way the game was played.

Nintendo Power #50 Zelda Golden Cover

As a Kid it was Godlike, and as a kid it was even more Godlike as it stomped on all UK mags @the time (Super Play, Mean Machines etc)

Kinda sad the only video game magazine left in the USA that I've seen around is Xbox Magazine.

Oh and Game Informer, which is terrible.

I miss the glory days of game magazines, all the strategy guides, codes and secrets. It was nice to have in print form.

That Scorpion MK II cover is by far the most creepy.

#14 - Game Informer lacks any meaningful content compared to the classic GamePro, EGM or Nintendo Power magazines. Game Informer was better in the 90's, but over the last decade, they are just a shell of their former selves.
