With Darkstalkers Resurrection's release happening in a few months, I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at some high level footage of some of this franchise's best players, many of which are still going strong today. MCZ|Daigo Umehara, HORI|Sako, Haitani and Nuki are all featured in the videos below.

Darkstalkers 2 and 3 will be released as a compilation title with HD graphic filters, online play and many more features on March 14, 2013.

The first clip has Sako (B. B. Hood) facing off against Nuki (Bishamon). Hit the jump for the rest.

Next up is Sako (B. B. Hood) vs. Haitani (Sasquatch).

The third video is of Daigo (Phobos) up against Fukae (Hsien-Ko).

And we close this out with Nuki (Bishamon) fighting Oboro (Victor).

Videos from B3nner and TRTerror.

Bishamon is gonna be my main.

Watch out for low level Darkstalkers footage from SAMURAI-3630 in 2013.

The first major tournament Daigo won was for Vampire Savior and his main was Bishamon. He later played Jedah and made the character almost look top tier. Here is some footage from the tournament http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1kOdS...

The last video of the series is Daigo vs Nuki in grand finals.

Is that Daigo/Fueke match Darkstalkers or Night Warriors?

@7 So true! He made the character look good when Jedah really only has Dash Mix ups going for him and not much else. ( I main Jedah on GGPO).

I remember these, premo footage! Lol they all look so young. And Sako's B.B. is just mind boggling.

Glad I dropped Jedah, as much as I love the guy, he's gonna be the "Ryu/Ken" of DS:R. Americans flock to him.

Man, I wish Vampire Savior had Phobos and Donovan, they have such an amazing design, even thou they're low-mid tier.

There's any Vsav tournament (with stream) being planned after Resurrection drops? I'd like to know more about it (@Eventhubs hey!)

What people have to keep in mind for people that always say Sako > Daigo when it comes to the game, is that they never played each other when they were both in their primes. Nuki says Daigo and himself stopped playing before Sako came onto the scene. Daigo moved on to Street Fighter. There is footage of them playing each other, but those matches only happened because people wanted them to play Sako. They lost of course, because they weren't playing regularly anymore like Sako. There's a video of Nuki telling this story on youtube (translated).

@#12 I hope not, I really like that character and he fits my play style.

@12, how can he? He has no reversal. Jedah is offensive a mixup character while Ryu/Ken are more footsies.

@17

I wasn't saying that Jedah was a shoto. I was saying that everyone online is gonna use Jedah or Talbain, with a tad of Squtach. I already see it on happening GGPO.

Wowsers! It appears I've been playing this game wrong... These guys are all moving so fast and there's so much emphasis on pokes and high/lows. Even with one my favorites, Sasquatch, he's played completely different from how I've operated with him, where I play him kind of with a focus on big, slow attacks. Not sure if I'll like the game at this speed, as I'm having trouble keeping up with what I'm seeing in these videos... but I'll still try. I love the games and the character designs and I'll learn what I need to in order to play it up to speed ;)

Also @Batsu: I don't think you'll have too much to worry about... I see lots of folks using Jedah because of his design, yes, but the few tournaments of VS that I've watched had a plethora of Lei Lei and Morrigan in them. Almost to the point where every match had one or the other, so something about them attracts folks. I think you'll at least see much more Morrigan than anyone else.
