NetherRealm Studios' senior producer, Adam Urbano, noted that his team spent two years focused on netplay for Injustice: Gods Among Us, as they realized that nothing matters more in regards to network play than launching with solid, great, fundamental code.doesnt matter how much you dress up a turd. its still a turd
Before release of games they always put out a story about how they made the netcode so much better then previous titles (SFxT). Then the title comes out and its a disaster. I just remember MK9 was UNPLAYABLE online day 1. I dont know if it ever got fixed, killed it for me.

...Okay?
Anyway I'm bothered by the term "Tournament level depth". What exactly is that? Is it a competitive game? Would that mean any competitive game is tourny viable? Or is it a game with the least game breaking mechanics? In that sense many games at tournies aren't the most balanced in the world. 'Tourny level depth' makes no sense when you think about it, yet this is not the first time I heard a developer or gamer say this. What do they mean by that?
And it even so important that your game be played at tournies that you create it with that goal in mind?
So many questions... So bored enough to ask them...
Agreed with #6, that's such a random thing to say. Nonetheless, I will answer this question myself, by buying it.
http://youtu.be/z_4AxzvhCPY <- This everytime the FGC bitches about change or any game that is not top of the status quo.
This game is going to be fun and I hope it does well critically and commercially just to annoy every single God Damn hater.
Does Injustice really offer more content than MK9?
MK9 had a story, a basic tower, a weird challenge tower, a pretty good training mode, a tag-team feature, and a good sized roster, and varied online features.
Injustice looks to have interactive/destructible environments and, if we take NR at their word, better net code. Per Boon, Injustice does NOT have a tag feature. Additionally, if they only have as many characters as there are character slots in the demo build then Injustice also falls short of MK9's roster.
Will have to wait and see the finished product but it so far looks like Injustice offers improved environments but falls short of MK9's content.
can't wait when this game sells millions and the heater will even more mad hahaha!!!
@11 THey have shown almost nothing about single player content besides a versus. They say the story mode will be bigger/better than MK9. They have also pretty much said they will have less characters than MK9. It will be interesting to see if they really do have more modes or "content". It could be a classic NetheRealm overstatement where there is a bigger "Krypt" area. Working with DC im sure there would be tons of interesting art and things to use. Hopefully they make for the lesser characters by having a bunch of costumes.
@6 I think they say things like this because the PS2 (3d) MK games were such ass when it came to competitive fighting. There was no real creativity or depth in the combos and many moves were just broken.
@ 12 - it is strange. That is the exact same thing I though. In the same interview (I believe when he was speaking in Australia about 2 months ago) Boon said that efforts were spent on the environments instead. I like the environment features so I see this as a wash.
As for the rest of the features: I don't really care if this game gets a challenge tower or even really how good the story is. The factors that have the biggest weight to me are game mechanics and roster. I'm not interested in tournament play and I want to play this game for fun....with that in mind a deep and diverse roster is very important to me. If this game has a smaller roster then MK9 then I will be disappointed with the content.
Im sure this game will sell well with all the DC/comic book fanboys and to the casual crowd. Before anybody says anything for a tournament setting, we all have to wait and see till the game drops before anybody has a real say on if it is a good competitive game, but imo the game still looks like ass. just like MK's awkward animations and stale gameplay, this looks to be the same
Why are people treating this like an MK9 sequel again? It has nothing to do with it other than it being developed by NRS. So stop comparing the 2 games already, that would be as dumb as me comparing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to SFA3 at the time, completely stupid.
PS2 MK games weren't ass, asses were the frauds and scrubs who couldn't even learn a combo. Those games provided much more creativity than a pile of broken sh*t which MK9 is. Now about MK9 netcode, sure it is far from being good and it annoys me that I can't fully punish frauds because the combos tend to drop and I have to use more safe and less damaging combos, but hey, look at SFxT netcode. The game lags even when you face a person with 3 bars. And the chance you face a person with good connection is really small. If IGAU really has better netcode than MK9, then fine. Still not buying that though, UE3 is such an awkward engine for fighting games, just look at glitches in MK9. I am not even talking about the man-face Wonder Woman, or Batman with a stance like he is holding a grenade all the time. Roster in MK9 was really small and not creative at all. If this game has even smaller roster, it'd better have some unique characters, and not clones of Superman or Batman all the time. As well as viable characters, cause NRS likes to release broken sh*t, then monsters discover some game-breaking technology or 1000 % resets, the whole cast gets patched-out and voila - you have 3-5 viable ( or better say - broken ) characters and a pile of D-tiers.
@15
Of course the heater will get mad if you brag to it about a game selling millions. All it wants to do is heat up your house.
On Topic:
I'll hold judgment until I get my hands on it. I was skeptical about MK9 and loved it on a casual level. I will never and I mean never like how Batman stands in the game, but I may enjoy it.
The fact that it has no block button quickly drew my attention.
@1 and @5 dont think anyone ask or care what you think,im sure ppl who are good at fg will atleast give it a chance
I remember before MvC3 was released Seth Killian said the netcode was the speed of light or something to imply it was amazing.
Fool me once, shame on you...
Who cares about the quantity of content if your game is ass quality. I personally think MK9 had way too much useless content. They should focus on gameplay and quality more than stupid content no one cares about.
LOL @ the people saying "not buying" "netcode is gonna be ass" etc. Have you played the game yet? Do you work at NetherRealm Studios? Do you have an gaming industry experience? Exactly, so shut the f*** up. And btw, nobody cares if you buying the game or not. Useless opinions are useless, as usual. -_____-
What the hel, this game plays nothing like street fighter or tekken or even mvc. This game is ass. How dare NRS make a game that doesn't cater to what I like and for that NRS needs to stop making fighting games. DC is just a rip off of marvel, just look at deathstroke, he's an obvious copy of deadpool. Capcom needs to be the only company.making fighting games because all of their games don't play anything alike. In short, I won't be picking this up and anyone who does are noobs who probably suck.
There...now let's move on to new topics shall we.
More Content with a better story mode then MK9? Sure why not, NetherRealm focuses and molds other aspects of fighters that other 2d fighters tend to ignore which was why MK9 was such a hit. Hell, The Characters in MK9 show off more Personality due to the story mode which is nice to see unlike the deadpan stuff i see in Capcom Fighters. I'll Rent it, but I'll buy if it actually has more content then Mk9. Also reassuring stuff in regards of Online which can make the difference if this game is accepted or not online since KoF failed in this regard

Seth Killian now with Neatherealm? Good on ya mate
I'm confused by the stupidity of people here.
If it was a Capcom game:
"OH my! A must buy, buy buy BUY!"
Oh it's a NetherRealms game, I'm not sure.
Maybe if they added gems, x-factor, auto combos, dial combos and Megaman I'd be satisfied.
Lol funny how these NR fan boy try to hate on people who don't agree with them. People are entitle to express there own opinion so don't hate about what they have to say. I to also see a short life span for this game just like mk9 if anything even shorter and won't be buying. Waste of money. It not about which company that makes it. If the game suck it sucks.
@41 i actually like SFxTs art style, very stylish while Injustice looks really, really bland :/ i would love for NR to put out a fighter that doesnt look so boring and robotic but i guess thats just their style of making games.
Also all the side content is really awesome for the fans of the comics and what not

Have you seen Chun Li Legs(Seriously felt like they spliced it from a Horse)? Or the other nonsense present in Capcom Fighters? Please lets not discuss What looks right and what does not look right in fighting game. You do Realize Batman has a different stance that he hides arms inside his cape as well right?
(Not sure if buying or not, would depend on whether they can add some characters that are fun and obscure, and who their MODOK is?)
@41, The problem is, I think, that there is scarcely an art style at all. It's more like a lack of an art style and a stab at choppy realism. I would rather have seen NR try to step away from the MK thing. Remember when SF moved on to their "Alpha" art style? This could have been their Alpha.
Can't wait! And the 1st issue of its comicbook is coming out later this month. Loved MK9 and knowing that this has even way more content is awesome.
Wow at all the people saying they are not buying. Get your head out of your Asses and appreciate a solid title. So who cares if MK9 was more well received than UMvC 3 and had way better content.
At least these guys put effort in bringing out a solid game with more than just arcade, vs and online modes and don't charge you to unlock things in the disc. I don't own MK9 but at least it had way more to offer than any previous game Capcom has put out in the past two years besides SSFIV: AE.
Gonna actually get this because it looks fun. I hope fun is allowed to say because I didn't say competitive when describing this game. Then again, it's probably the same people who hate on Smash Bros.
@44
Not once did I praise Capcom for their artistic style in any of their games. I did however say that Batman's stance looks gay. Good for him having a second stance. I can say whatever I want about the game and how it looks.
I also never said I wasn't buying the game either. You can check my previous comments on the game and the majority of them have been positive towards this game.
I'm not a blind hater of anything not Capcom.
Wait...why are fight game fans hating on a fight game before it's even released?? Someone please explain this to me. Shouldn't we be supportive of companies creating games in the genre we love?? If the game sucks once it's released then fair play to hate on it but it hasn't been released yet. I just don't get it. I guess this is what's wrong with the world.
With MK9, they also said that net code was a priority and 50% of the dev team was working on it. We all know how that turned out. This sounds like the same promise. So, ill believe it when I see it.
"A new system that ensures players get all the content they need" please tell me we're in for another on disc dlc row. The last one was hilarious...
#31 I CONCUR!!!
CAN'T WAIT TO GET THIS GAME. Ohhh and Dr. Fate and Raven PLZ!! :D
