I remember DoA2 Ultimate having 18 costumes for some of the characters just for playing the game. Now you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for cosmetic skins.
I like the game, but I hate this generation of nickel and diming gamers.
Glad to see the update though.
Well, it's back to the training room once again for DOA5.3
SFlip, you got it all wrong about the costume packs for the 360.
Because of the delay, they gave 360 version the new swimsuit pack for 480MSP/$6 and the MMA pack for 80MSP/$1.
The PS3 packs price is still the same $13 and $5 respectively.
SFilp! Get on that grammar! Not gonna tell you what's wrong this time, but already 2 mess ups today!
Hey, I was talking to some guys on FSD and there are reports that the Zack Island stage has no music on the 360 version.
@ #9
Stay classy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: No, you cannot jiggle the women's breast on the 360 version.
@9
lol biggest hypocrite I've seen, not even joking at all.
Since we're on the subject, why do girls get all those ridiculously revealing cloths while men don't even get low-waist garnments?
It's baffling.
Xbox360 version has music on the Zack Island stage and it is rather lively.
#12: All the costumes are positively generic anyway. All the original variations of the costumes have had censoring done as well as the character sprites. Men's bulges have been shrunk from their more noticeable size in part 4 as well as their muscle definition so not much to see nor be proud of anymore for the dude's hard work as fighters, women's bodies have been toned down even if many may not notice it.
But hey the new costumes show just as much men skin as the girl's garments but without removing any of that generic greatness.
Online still sucks and lags just as much as before. Even on 5 bars.
@1 All I can say about the generation of cost for DLC, was going on since the PC expansion packs, the days when Dreamcast was the first console to have DLC, then the original Xbox, and even the failure N64 Disc Drive had expansion packs (even planned games but cancelled). As long as the PSN Store & Xbox Market Place exist, the DLC content was meant to be paid since history.
@9 If you really have a problem with this game, I think its better to ignore the topic rather than make pointless comments.
@19: While there is some truth to your statements to one I do understand how they feel. During the first releases of this game(1-2 and remakes and the exclusion of 3-4) costumes were abundant. and The costumes for 3 were given for the purchase of the subscription to Xbox not for purchasing the game. When Ultimate came out, beating it also unlocked the costumes for three.
The issue at least for this game for me is the fact that costumes were given and you got a lot of them for free for it was and is still considered(by fans) a huge aspect of the game. It was a key element of the game's appeal which has be looked over in 5. Now you hardly have any and the dlc ones are nothing but mere colour and pallet swaps of other characters for pay.
Those factors right there are why it irritates me more with this series than others(which still irritate me) which may also irritate many veterans of the series.
@20
Exactly what I meant in my first post. If you buy all the costumes some games end up costing over $100 which is crazy. I miss the old days of unlocking costumes from beating the game.
DoA5 is one of the worsts as you said most are just pallet swaps.
@20 DOA series mostly have unlock costumes since the console version of the first game. But speaking of DOA2, there were mulitple versions of DOA2 from each country. Sega Naomi Arcade was the start for DOA2, then later came the console versions each certain version contain improving details, new costumes & stages, added CG gallery, added new moves etc. Itagaki & Team Ninja were not happy with the releases of DOA2, because the console marketing didn't gave them enough time to put in alot of content.
the console versions were the NA Dreamcast ver 1.1, PAL Dreamcast ver 1.2, JPN Dreamcast ver 1.3, JPN PS2 ver 1.4, NA & PAL PS2 Hardcore ver 2.1, and JPN Hard*Core ver 2.2.
The color & pallet swaps was something in common since the first game, starting with Sega AM2 Arcade DOA2 with Kasumi's two ninja outfit along with certain characters costume same but different color. Not just DOA does stuff like that other fighters do it too depending on what game.
When comes to costume color & pallet swaps, to me (not everyone can agree) at least DOA5 has abit of verity unlike another game I know which had the worst verity.
@21, LOL is this Nig serious?
Oh yeah, bro. I get all the chicks too. I'm also a pimp.
@18, That sucks to hear. I think I may just give up expecting them to improve the online.
#24: Colour and pallet swap was not referring to the characters original costumes merely coming in different colour for themselves for that is common. It was referring to the concept of them taking a generic costumes and splitting it up amongst the characters in a different colour and expect money for that. That is what that statement refereed to.
And yes each version of the game did have improvements but all were released in different locations while this one was released to all. This game has no problem with accessing and allowing everyone to access the costumes given, but them being so generic should be even more reason to make them free for all it is is the data from one costume and put onto another character.
It is like when the xbox costumes were released and every female had one.
@27 Even if they were generic costumes, the stuff I said earlier is the same. All I can say about the money part, is all you can do is blame the console marketing because its responsible for the way of gaming including DLC. That includes part of your problem, heres the thing if Sony & Microsoft make DLC cost money and doesn't make content free every third party company has to follow it.
DLC is away to expand content, and because the console market is always set on release dates that not even Team Ninja would get enough time to put everything in the game. Look at PC expansion packs like Wolfenstin 3D, Jazz Jackrabbit, & Duke Nukem 3D they're one of thoes games that always have expansion packs that isn't in the original games.
