Skullgirls Crowdfunding campaign for DLC character Squigly - opened and now accepting donations on Indie GoGo

Posted by DreamKing23
February 25, 2013 at 11:22 a.m. PST
The fundraising page for Squiggly, the next DLC character in Skullgirls, is now up on IndieGoGo and open for donations. The amount Lab Zero is looking to achieve is $150,000 in order to fully complete the first Skullgirls DLC character and the campaign will be active for the next 30 days.

Below is a video from Mike Z and Alex Ahad that explains the goals they hope to achieve, rewards for donating including wallpaper packs, t-shirts, soundtracks, a Steam code that gives early access to the Skullgirls PC beta and more. The video also includes a breakdown of Squigly and discusses her playstyle and story.

For even more information on donations, rewards, stretch goals and more, be sure to visit the Indie GoGo campaign page.

It is just sad that they don't feature this game in Tournaments, they put Melty Blood and PA4 instead of this, made by some guys from the community, and they don't get as much support as they need.

I'm totally helping them, already bought the pre-order for Steam. Hope they can make much more than they expect.

@1 What do you mean "Where are all these Skullgirls fans?" They have ALWAYS been here. People just put down Skull Girls because it is'nt by Capcom or a big developer or something. People forget this game was marketed by Konami which is a big company, of course its gonna have a huge roster of fans, you can't deny the charm the game has too. Very beautiful and well done American fighter.

Even if you don't play the game you can't deny it is a great fighter if not overshadowed by the big boys. People want this game to do well.

They'll get more than enough money from the fans. I'm not donating, but it's cool to see how much fan support this game has. Too bad I can't ever find any of them online.

The high tier rewards just flew off the shelf! The highest left is $300 and there's only 13 of those left. I hope they can get lots of small supports to go along with the few huge ones. Also they promise Team Fortress hats. How can a man you say no to hats?

The problem I have with this, is once you pay to get it developed... they will charge again for the content. Considering the content to come after squigly as well isn't that impressive, I may as well pass. Perhaps if they put out something worth while.

It upsets me the cool character in the game is a charge character, and the rest are meh.

It's a shame.

Pay again? No its FREE FOREVER as long as you download within the 3 month time period

PC Version will also be covered along with beta keys and TF2 hat

Its gonna be three characters/Stages/Story Scenarios. The 3rd character will be determined by VOTE.

Why are you hating on persona 4? At WinterBrawl persona 4 had 120 PRE-REGISTERED players, with more signing up on-site.

eventhubs only posted top 4 results for skullgirls. Did skullgirls even get 10 entrants???

shoutouts to skullgirls and their 4 man bracket at winter brawl

all this effort for a dead game lololol

Dude, back in december at NEC XIII, P4A wasn't free to enter, but they still had 154 players sign up... This time they had 120 people registering early, they would have still signed up even if they had to pay 10 bucks, which they did back in December.

Couple of things.

Really glad to see this is picking up steam so quickly! While I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay, I adore everything else about it and do enjoy watching matches, and I love love love love love the artwork/animation. I'll be donating if I can (looks like it require Pay Pal, which I don't use and for some reason Indiegogo doesn't like my CC), as I also want to at least try Squigly, even if its just casually. <3

Also, people going around yelling "lol your game is dead"... EAD. The more you go around screaming and posting that tripe, the more you prove your unimportance and incompetence. If you don't like/play/understand/care about the game you're about to post about, you should probably not say a damn thing and go find the article of a game you actually like.

@ShinAkiraDesu The reason for the delay of XBOX 360 patch is due to the patch size limit of Microsoft. They only allow 4 MB in size per patch. The patch for the PS3 version was way over 500 MB.

My guess is that they might include v1.01 with Squigly. Though why they didn't just do that with the DLC color pack in the first place, I'll never understand.

YoYoCheese's avatar
YoYoCheese said on February 25, 2013 at 4:26 p.m.

Mike Z's already said that, if MS doesn't release the patch by her release date, it will be included automatically with Squigly for 360 users. (There's a technicality that makes this possible.)

I love SkullGirls, one of the best fighting games out.
But it's no surprise it's not tournament worthy.
ONLY because the roster is eight characters. Wayy too low.
BUT the diversity between those three is greater than any fighting game out there. (Capcom wise, since I haven't played Persona4A)
I love the ideas, and innovation for the game.
Camera zooms in on Squigly as she sings, bring the opponent closer by using the edge.
Never thought I'll see that in a game.
