Ricky Ortiz thinks PR Balrog's SFxT tier list will still be valid in 6 months to a year

Ricky Ortiz thinks PR Balrog's SFxT tier list will still be valid in 6 months to a year Evil Geniuses' Ricky Ortiz did a quick interview over on the EG blog today. The main topic they cover is Street Fighter X Tekken v2013, from his time spent training, thoughts on the game, tiers and more.

Angstygaijin: We know that you’re a big fan of Rufus and Chun-Li. Who else have you been spending time with in the game? We’ve seen some conversations on twitter about Guy, Chun-Li, Dudley, Jin, and Law were called out as potential top-tier fighters in the game. Do you agree with the list or do you have anything else to add?

Ricky Ortiz: It’s still kind of early to judge tiers because there’s still a lot of things people haven’t found out yet. For the characters Eduardo [PR Balrog] mentioned, I believe that even a year from now, 6 months from now, those characters will definitely be top-tier. I do feel that Chun-Li is hands-down the best character in the game – by far. I think she’s extremely overpowered.

Not sure who EG|PR Balrog said was top tier? Check out the Between Rounds story where he discusses his tiers.

Check out the full interview over on Evil Geniuses' website.

PR Long's list is pretty bad overall. Not as bad as Dieminion's though.

#4's opinion > PR Rog's and Ricky Ortiz's opinions.

Hypocrite much? Ah well, I have trouble against zoners anyway so I don't think I could judge if Chun was top or not.

@superman 3

chun li might be really good, but really it isn't an excuse, especially at lower level play -_-

@7 hypermath

he is saying he thinks it's too early to say the end game tiers, 6 months threw a year is more immediate. Saying that it is too early to predict top tiers over all, but that in the immediate future these characters will remain strong, is not that hypocritical

Why Chun-Li is top tier?

Extreme range on normals which can, of course, be buffered into boost chians on counter-poke. Said normals are, at worst, -3 at range. Most of her normals are, at worst, 7 frame start up.

She has good pressure (and chip) with lightning legs and hazanshu (-1 and 0 frames on block, respectively).

She has several 3 frame normals to choose from.

She has an invuln wake-up option and her walk-speed is one of the best.

For a footsie heavy game like SFxT, she has everything you'd want in a character.

Still, I don't know if she's the best in the game, though. Not enough vitality/damage.

I wouldn't say Chun is the absolute best in the game but she is still really good. My top 5 in no specific order for top of the tier list would be, Nina, Chun, Lili, Hwoarang and Law. A lot of people say Jin is top but I just don't see it...

Lol at Jin not being top 5. I guess you haven't seen Infiltration's Jin.

There is nothing extremely overpowered about a character that has low stamina and damage output plus no proper anti air attack.
