Sega Cup 2013 - Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown's $16,000 up for grabs

I'm not a fan of VF5 personally, but I am definitely a fine of what SEGA's doing for the community. Good too see this kind of stuff.

This is good, but not sure I like how they're handling the prizes, if you win you've got to take the majority of the pool home.

I mean you can finish 7-8th and get almost as much money as those who got 4th place, and it's not that far from 1st and 2nd.

I think 1st prize should get way more than that. Something like:

1 $6,000.00
2 $2,500.00
3 $1,500.00
4 $1,000.00
5 $750.00
6 $750.00
7 $500.00
8 $500.00

@2 That's a good point but I think SEGA is also just trying to reward as many top players as possible. That's the highest spread top 16 payout I've seen (I don't know what Evo's is like or anything). I kind of like that they're guaranteeing money for the players who have stuck with the game.

You're absolutely right, I didn't really think about that and it might work better for a game which doesn't have such a huge fanbase.

Though it's kinda weird to see the 1st prize being that low compared to the other top 8 prizes, it usually floats around half of the pool or a bit less than that...

I refuse to let this game fall to the wayside. It easily deserves a spot alongside MVC and SF in the public eye.

I think this good for what Sega is doing. I play VF5 and it's fun. I just wish more people could enjoy this game more with its realistic structure in fights.

Justin playing this suddenly makes a lot more sense now.

The question here is, will VF actually have a top 16?

Best game this gen hands down for me. It's given me a fire to play fg's like i did back in the day. I'm so glad i have a mate i can play whose on a similar skill level to me otherwise i'd just be mindlessly playing sf (good game but vf is king)

This is better than getting $380 for 5th at Evo in Marvel

If you havent played VF5FS then i say give it a chance the game is real cheap on PSN and XBOX LIVE. Its my favorite fighting games this gen and fighting games dont need to be all flashy to be good.

If you quit whining like a bitch, you'd see why your argument falls flat on its face.

First of all, I've owned VF5FS. Barely found anyone online.

Second, I've also owned P4A, TTT2, and I have Injustice preordered. The fact of the matter is, when it comes down to tourneys, just about all of those games have or will have a top 8. What did VF have at EVO? A top 3. TOP THREE. That means barely anybody entered it. That's not bashing the game, that's stating facts.

Third, how can you call me a scrub when it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm better than you at any game you touch?

Really if you want to set up some matches on VF5FS im game just let me know when. You must have started playing VF5FS late which is why you found hardly any people online and what i have a problem with is you HAVING to TROLL every VF5 topic that shows up on eventhubs.

I watched the entire VF4FS stream at EVO there was plenty enough players and obviously you werent watching it. Once your making my point for me a game doesnt have to be popular to be good. If i dont like a game i just dont bother posting however when i see a VF5FS topic on eventhubs i can almost guarantee myself there will be a NoizyTroll post.
