I know people love arcade perfect ports, but they really should have gone with the Playstation 1 version of Darkstalkers 3, since it had all the characters.

I played Q-Bee and knowing that half of an already small community will be split in another game (And that I won't be able to fight against 3 characters) kind of kills the excitement for me.

WTF?! They took the characters away?! Agrees with #1 That just may have detoured me a bit from purchasing the game. Arcade perfect or not they could have placed those three characters in the game.

im pretty sure a huge majority of players that pick this up, will most likely play Vampire Savior. Its the defining game in the franchise, that really sets it apart from most fighters.

Then itwouldn't be a arcade perfect port if they added the missing characters in. I doubt it is as easy as adding those characters in the game, and From what I hear the PS1 version pales in comparison to the arcade versions.

I've never played a Darkstalkers game...I know I'm not the only one who gets confused as hell with which game is which based on U.S. and Japanese names. There needs to be a definitive name for each because I can never remember which one is which for some reason.

Splitting an already small community is a bad idea, I agree with #1 as well that we should have just had one game that is the total package.

@1 Actually the Dreamcast/PSP ver. The Chaos Tower is the best of them all, because it have all games in it plus a couple of good game modes and unlockable art gallery.

the engine for both games are very unique. Some moves and hitboxes have been drastically changed or replaced. Its not as simple as copy & pasting them into both games. Thats why Vampire Savior 2 & Vampire Hunter 2 exists.

Guys think about this for a second, don't you think when it comes to this game that the the Ds/Vs community is already split? Combining them into one game isn't going to make the community all of a sudden BIGGER, it will just alienate the people who liked their version own version of the game. plus again, I doubt it would be as simple as adding the missing characters because both versions play extremely different.

I had the Saturn version of Vampire Savior back in the day. It stomped all over the PS1 version. It also had all the characters in the game. Not having Donovan available in DS3 is real drag.

I been sad about not having huitzil in ds3 forever now. It is hype killing 4me. Everyone sittin here acting like they are going to win the local darkstalkers tournament because this or that version is in but we know that aint the truth. If it were up to me the package shouldve been:

Arcade Ds3
Arcade vampire
And then arrange mode with all stages, music and character versions in one game so the REST of us can sleep comfortably knowing that there is finnally a "complete" version, alot like VS2 but with extra stages. Ya Know? Im still playing this on ps1 and dreamcast but DAMN. that would be so nice to have in HD with online.

Hype deflated for me. I will still buy to support cobra commander tho

InitialR: yours are the only honest posts, man.

Different names, different engines, character additions and removals is how these games were made since way before most of you started into FG's people. There's no need to change those things if the objective was to make the port as loyal as possible to the arcade version. Besides, there's goddamn wikipedia, man. You're telling me they can't take a couple minutes to look up for some info in the internet??

@10 Did it? I thought for some reason the Saturn Version was the Vampire Savior 2, which was a Japan only release that was missing some different set of characters; Rikuo, Sasquatch, and Jon Talbain...

I didn't have it, but if Marvel vs Street Fighter was any indication, Saturn did a much more impressive job handling Capcom fighters than the PSX did.

I'm not gonna lose much sleep over this because I don't have either console, PC's my only gaming platform.

I think the problem is this. Even though arcades were around back when the DS/Vampire franchise first released, the games weren't nearly as wide spread as Street Fighter. I didn't get to play Vampire Savior in the arcades until after I imported the Saturn version. So it felt like a downgrade with the missing characters.

Yeah, way to go arcade perfection whiners. The game was never gonna be arcade perfect anyway thanks to modern consoles input lag, and thanks to you it won't be complete either. I'm not gonna pay for the same damn thing I spent tons of quarters on, and now have on MAME.

Now instead of something as cool as Vampire Chronicle For Matching Service (Dreamcast) we get a barebones game with a new soundtrack.

I'm sort of with everyone who's asking for all of the characters to be included in one of the games. Personally, I came into Darkstalkers with Darkstalkers 3, which had the entire cast. Sure, it played kind of funny because it was the Playstation era, but the upgrade on the PSP improved everything by leaps and bounds on that front.

Listen, I understand the desire for an 'arcade perfect' port... but what does one really lose by having the option to have all of the characters in DS3? Maybe make it something that can be filtered or switched on and off in lobbies or ranked mode, but why keep it away entirely? The argument against this is especially silly after the recent Injustice article, where many folks were arguing that having more options was always a better thing. After reading comments there, I'm not sure how the community can rightly argue that having fewer options makes this better.

Of course, I would wager that this is also being done to give players more reason to play both versions. Most everyday players wouldn't spend much time on the version that's 'missing' part of the cast.

And for those arguing that it's truly arcade perfect to have Donovan, Huitzil, and Pyron missing in DS3, I read on the Unity forums several times that Huitzil's data (lifebar and portrait and whatnot) was actually programmed into the arcade version, but he wasn't accessible because of memory limitations. Him being out of that game had nothing to do with balance.

@ InitialR

I can agree with that. I just hope whichever version I end up liking more isn't the community that gets screwed just because the other version happens to appeal to more FGC members and gets labeled the "one to play". I'll play whichever one despite that, but there is little incentive to put time into a game if there is no one to play against within a few months. Just ask almost every other digital download community.

If you play in arcade like me or on GGPO like real player fanbase would then you would know. I am a real player darkstalkers. Complaining about characters that would be banned in tournament. You would not even be willing to take the time to learn game as much as me. If you really were fan of this game you would know that. I am hitler for player darkstalkers like all of you. Don't make me repeat myself.

The Psp version was practically arcade perfect and also had all the characters. I own the Night Warriors and DarkStalkers 3. Yes they are different in comparison but it should not be difficult.

The Sega Saturn version of the game was part 2 of the series. The PlayStation version was one. That is why the Sega version was superior.

Don't blame Capcom for the missing characters in Vampire Savior, CPS2 had limited RAM to store all the characters data that's why we got 2 other CPS2 releases for the game (Vampire Savior 2/Vampire Hunter 2) and those failed.

Yes Vampire Chronicles(Dreamcast/PSP) was a very good port even with the console specific bugs/differences and they should have used that one version.

But if you want Arcade perfect this CPS2 ported version is the one.

As a huge DS fan i wont be getting this because it just feels really dumb and cluttered.2 games with different speeds/characters?!?
The best all time version of DS was Vampire Savior for Jap Dreamcast(and PSP)it featured every character and fighting grove from past DS's in one game, along with arcade perfect animations(i still play it to this day on Dreamcast).I cant understand why Capcom didnt just update that version instead, since it was the definitve best version of all DS titles. That way everyone can play and get good at one DS game instead of 2.

@27 I meant to say Vampire "Chronicle" was the all time best version of a DS game ever.
I still dont understand why update 2 good but faulty titles, when they had 1 perfectly complete title to choose from.

I'll still get it. I can get over Makoto not being in SFxTK and Maki not being in SSF IV, people can get over Donovan not being in DS 3. Yu wanted Arcade port and Donovan, Pyron, and Huitzil were originally console exclusive before the compliations like Vampire Savior 2 and Chaos Tower arrived. Hell, I hate the dubstep-remixes but will learn to get used to it (or change it if the options avaliable) so just learn to get over it.

I find the complaining laughably dumb. If you like Don, Bot, and Pyron...PLAY VAMPIRE HUNTER!!! IT'S A GOOD GAME!

People automatically assume that, some how, 2 is inferior to 3. That's NOT true, THEY ARE ENTIRELY different games. It's like SFIII and SFIV, that's how different they are.

They included the previous game like this for a reason. Trust me folks, when you play BOTH games, you'll understand why they chose for it t be this way..
