Wanted more Battle Tendency? All I see is Wham and Joseph Joestar.
Needs Lisa Lisa and Caesar. :(
Still hype though.
Good chance this won't be localized, due to the HUGE amount of legal issues with naming and references.
And I can't see it being released for 360, especially this far down the line without a word about anything but PS3.
As for my wishlist; Funny Valentine, Diego. But I feel Diego might be shafted to DLC costume or something else :c
Hopefully this makes its way to the US. America needs more JOJO!
I wish people would stop calling Josuke Higashikata "Jojolion". It's the name of the series, not the character.
It would be like calling Jotaro Kujo "Stardust Crusader".
@3 & @16 Don't hold your breath for an NA release. It would go through copyright hell due to all the naming, the same way that a bunch of names had to be changed in the stateside release of the Dreamcast Jojo game. Word is Araki wasn't happy with that, and refused to allow the game to be released if anything has to be changed.
There's a rumour it's one of the reasons that the Part V game never made it to US shores. Price had an issue with the use of the name Gold Experience and wasn't having any of it, while Araki refused to change it.
Well they localized the Arcade Capcom fighting games so just do that again although there are more characters with more problematic names tan appeared in those late 90's games.
Also what does "jakuten wanai" mean? Rubber Soul also said it, after hitting certain moves in the fighting games by Capcom, so just curious
@19 "jakuten wa nai" means "no weakness" usually in the sense of "I have no weakness".
@20 a running theme of the Jojo series is no character has any "fixed" or canon colour. Araki just colours them however he feels like at the time. There are popular or common colours though, Dio being yellow or reddish orange, or Star Platinum being either green or blue are two examples.
Case in point, Josuke from part 8 is being shown in orange here, while in plenty of other pictures he's seen in a white sailor suit.
@22 The anime is currently on the second part of the series, with there being 8 in total. The game features characters from all 8 parts.
I guess even if the names were to be changed it wouldn't effect the game play an awful lot, it would just seem weird with 60 - 80% of all the characters having different names.
the trailer was s-tier. so hype!
the main effect of changing character names would be that Araki would be mad. and you don't want Araki mad. BibleThump
and please tell me the peeps asking for more BT characters are actually fans, and not just anime bandwagoners. they're not mentioning a large portion of characters from the later parts as well. i've said this before, but i'd love some secret characters.
characters i'm still waiting for: F.F., Narancia, Bruno, Diego, Koichi, Mariah, and Iggy.
Yeesh, I've never seen a gayer looking roster
Game is shaping up quite well. Still waiting on part 1&7 Dio, Buccellati , and if at all possible Risotto Nero. Metallica is too awesome of a stand to not bring to a fighting game, even if Nero got bodied pretty quickly.
@18 IIRC A representative from CC2 said in an interview that although its currently slated only for japan, they are interested in bringing this title oversees, though its not certain atm. In fact the article was actually posted here on Eventhubs waaaaayyy back when the game was recently announced. I believe Silliconera posted it aswell. A trademark was also filed.Heres a link to the silliconera article:
@27
Oh brother. These are some of the most brutal manliest dudes you'll come across.
@31
Oh yea, nothing says manliness like a half shirt and a froofy hairdo. C'mon some of these guys look gayer than 8 guys f***ing 9 guys.
@4 Please tell me you're legitimately retarded. Or else you should be banned from this site for such blasphemy, and completely retarded comment.
Effing Excellent!
That YOLO Kira at the end!
@31 Damn right they are manly. To them having part of your arm severed is just a papercut.
God damn, this game is FABULOOOOOOOOUUUS!
Day 1 purchase.
@33 LOL yes because you were completely fine with the ugly-ass bloated character models, the derp faces, the overly narrow jump arcs, the fact that the screen moves vertically every time someone jumps (no other canon SF game does this), and the stupid Ultras.
It's funny that this game has more realistic body proportions than SF4 but uses the same graphics engine.
@39 so you hate sf4 because of small things that doesn't really matter? ok. seems kinda dumb to compare the two though :/
@46 Alot of name's in the jojo series are usually based off licensed song or band names. Like part 8 Josuke's stand name being Soft & Wet (like the prince song). It was also the reason why Capcom and viz had to change Vanilla Ice's name to Iced when they released the part 3 game and books in the west. So yeah it's pretty much they wanna avoid a lawsuit as much as possible.
@46. Since the characters' Stands (alongside Wham, Zeppli, and a few others) are named from bands, musicians, etc, the main thing the US LOVES is sue or attempt to sue. Because Japan has loser restrictions, it doesn't effect the game overseas. The music naming is one of many reasons why JoJo isn't as recongizable in the West to where the game based off of Part 5 was canceled from being released overseas because of Stands with names such as Green Day, Notrious B.I.G, and Sex Pistols.
@39 You're still comparing a 2D fighter with a 3D fighter. If you don't like the Jump arcs in SFIV, you're going to hate these ones since this is a 3D fighter... And, JoJo doesn't have derp faces?
Josuke (part 8) seems like he doesn't belong with the other Joestars. For one, he isn't doing a crazy Jojo-esque pose. Secondly, he looks hella fruity (not that there's a problem with that but at least the others look cool) and not that interesting compared to the others. Finally, his stand looks like it took 10 seconds to design. He just seems really lackluster and bland upon first glance.
I'm a 2012 anime band wagoner so I don't know much about Jojo lore past Stardust Crusaders but was he intentionally designed this way?
JoJolion Josuke is probably one of the most unique protagonists. His stand ability is very versatile and allows for some real strategic fights. He does plenty of posing, but you just don't see much of it in the short footage you see of him in this trailer.
He might seem fruity looking with the sailor outfits and lipstick, but he's technically more manly than any other JoJo's character because he has two sets of balls (seriously).
@49 I should've been more specific; mainly SF4's presentation should have been more like this.
The Jojo characters don't have derp faces, it's just the manga style it's derived from. SF4's art style was the result of a brain-damaged man's idea of a comic/cartoon artstyle to include overly large mouths, weird bloated muscles, and stances that don't translate well from 2D to 3D.
Also, the 1-3 frame normal animations in SF4 are lazily done; instead of creating the proper character model animation for each frame, they just "fast-forward" the animation to fit the speed of the attack after the fact (ex. a 5 frame animation is squeezed into a 2 frame attack). So any combo you see looks jarring.
I won't mind the jump arcs in this game since it's on a 3D plane.
If it goes through hell with the names, I'll just import it or something. Though it shouldn't be too bad. Out of the confirmed characters, the only ones that might have some trouble are Kiss and Abdul. Foo Fighters will probably just become F.F.
@51 Josuke may seem lack-luster in design, but his stand is good and will put together some interesting game mechanics.
@32 This is a series in which one of the popular first impressions is "I think it's about transvestites that go around beating each other up and I love it."
@Everyone about more characters: There's more to come, don't worry. More people from every part (Maybe not part 8, though) Are coming soon. I think next are probably gonna be Funny Valentine, F.F, Pucchi, Diavlo, and probably red hot chili peppers.
"Fist of the North Star"?
"The game is based ON THE ANIME"?? Seriously?? Then tell me why the character design is so different. Simple. It's based on the manga!!
Please, search "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure mangarush" and start to read the comic book that ispired your favourite fighting games characters SINCE 1987.
