Shazam confirmed in Injustice: Gods Among Us - Battle Arena week 2 matchups: Lex Luthor vs. the Joker, Shazam vs. the Flash

Lex wins the fight even though the Joker would give him a very annoying and frustrating battle. Captain Marvel takes it against the Flash mainly because Captain can pretty much take on Superman and thus take out Flash in a..uh, flash.

@1 Superman would body Captain Marvel for free. Superman TOWED THE FREAKING EARTH. Nobody except the Sentry from the Marvel universe can touch him. Unless they have Kryptonite of course.

I'm voting for Flash taking out Shazam. Just cause he can be quite broken depending on the writer, although this is true of both Supes/Shaz/Brack Adam type characters.
Anyone remember the name of the guy from the future who was in an armored suit, and gave a lot of DC characters a run for their money¿ I think Hawk from the Hawk and Dove series, ended up being an iteration of him.

Superman would be the one I would want to vote for in a Superman vs Captain Marvel fight, but Captain Marvel is the winner, unless we do include their whole entire history, then Superman is hands down the winner.

The flash is insanely powerful so he beats shazam. You gotta be able to touch him first and the flash can phase his body into basically being a ghost and while he's phasing he has a technique that makes his punch equivilent to an atom bomb.

Lex has no issues killing people so yeah joker takes one to the head and down he goes. He's got some gadgets that could help him against lex but the suit is built to fight the gods. Sorry mr.joker you lose.

@15 do you know that Cap Atom and Monarch were both in the Countdown to Final Crisis weekly? I was sad about DC ending the New 52 Cap Atom, but they're closing series like crazy: I find difficult to care about them anymore.

Superman is simply vulnerable to magic, not weak to it. He'd continue to possess incredibly high levels of strength, stamina, toughness, and his other powers like heat vision in a fight against a magic user.

In the fight against Shazam, Superman would take it due to experience and resilience. Remember that behind the powers of Shazam is still a kid who is lucky if he's depicted as having hit puberty, nevermind having the experience to face the sort of threats Superman has faced for decades.

Flash vs Shazam, giving it to Flash.

As for Lex vs Joker, I'm giving the edge to Lex. Joker has the advantage of creativity and pure chaotic insanity, but Lex never even has to get close with his power suit.

There were some awesome New 52 series that got cancelled that just had me peeved. Atom inluded, I have those. And yes, I did read the Countdown to Final Crisis TPBs. I was glad to see Monarch there.
Booster Gold was another character I liked. I'm hoping we get more Michael Straczynski take on DC characters. I'm seriously entertained by his Superman: Earth One series.
I'm hoping that the new Marvel Now comics don't fail in similar fashion.

@25 They're going to reveal all their characters in the Battle Arena, Shazam was never revealed, but leaked. Today was his reveal, and they'll be doing all the reveals in this format weekly. So on Thursday/Friday, we'll see the results of this one, and on Monday, we'll see the next four characters.

That just takes away all the hype. They still haven't even shown gameplay for the Green Lantern and the dude is on the cover. It's pretty lame that they are showing all this stuff to Gaming Websites but not letting them show anything, and then they do these cheesy promo match ups instead of just revealing a character showcasing his/her best moves.

@36 Not going to lie though, last week's Harley vs WW did get me more interested in getting it (I haven't pre-ordered yet. I'm still waiting for the must buy character), it was clearly set up, but it showcased their moves to a good degree, and the stage showcase (interaction-transitions) was what won me over (which had been confirmed that you can turn them off).

But I do agree, that these are a tad bit cheesy, but not sure that it bugs me that much.

I agree there hasn't been a Must Buy character. I am also glad to hear about turning off stage transitions as it is a cool feature but will get stale very quickly.

I already know that I am renting the game, but won't get to try online because they will use an online pass. I also know that they will release a complete edition with all the DLC characters and costumes so if I enjoyed my rental I will buy that version.

I spent about $125 on MK9 with the collectors edition and the DLC. I won't be doing that again.

I laugh at the dudes thinking Flash can beat Shazam, Flash stands no chance, not even the speed force can do anything to Shazam because he's indestructible. I think a lot of you also forgot that Shazam is also fast so there's no way Flash could keep him from saying Shazam either. Yeah, Flash is faster, but he's not indestructible, no way close stronger, or even more powerful than Shazam. In a death battle realistically, Shazam can punch Flash's head off, and yes Shazam is fast enough that he could lay a punch to Flash's face. Flashes punches would have NO effect on Shazam except his all around the world bomb punch, but Shazam would get up from that and the Flash would be exhausted... Shazam takes him out right there.

Joker would lose against Luther.... bottom line.

He even throws down with inter dimensional foes who can control reality. (Mr. mxyplyzyk anyone?)

He has a little thing called Super intelligence. He figures out ways to beat "superior" adversaries all the time.

And it all depends on who writes him. Superman will always be written to rise to the occasion. Even against the Surfer.

(Who btw has been known to struggle in fights against Thor, Hulk and BetaRayBill) all characters that Superman could kill instantly.

I know that some characters are "technically" more powerful than Superman. But that sure as HeII don't mean they're going to beat Big Blue.

And that's because he is who he is. And no Cosmic Power in the Galaxy can make you more powerful than the Worlds love for Superman.

I'm sorry if I cause any major disturbance, but I wanted to check out this vid...and gawt dayum...this girl SUCKS. She's trying so hard to be hip it's awkward, the jokes are GOD AWFUL, and the only part I liked was the actual gameplay of the game and that overly buff dude with the giant water-horn (I mean, no homo, but that was awesome).

Actually, Super Man is op as fking bawls. NO ONE beats Super Man. He's FKING INSANE. The amount of crap he's been written to pull is so overdone that it's difficult to put him in a fighting game in the first place. Lex has the visible advantage over Joker; however Joker has nothing to lose whereas Lex can lose everything.

Flash vs Shazam is a toughy. Flash is definitely faster and can even freak up the time space if he goes too fast; this puts him at a risk as well. He can also become intangible but I'm sure Shazam can counter that.

@77 Ive never been a huge fan of Superman simply because I've always found his design to be bland ever since I was little. My favorite superheroes from DC have always been Batman and the rest of the bat family, and everyone from Teen Titans/ Young Justice.

(If you've seen Death Battle, Superman info is from there) The Flash is not the fastest man alive, it would seem Superman is. Flash travels near/at the speed of light whereas Superman travels at 8 times the speed of light, he flew to the Sun and back in 1m 54secs, it takes 8mins 20secs for Sunlight to reach the Earth...Batman calculated Superman’s top speed at 17 Billion km/hr… So DC Comics what is the point of The Flash if Superman is faster than he is -_-

superman is superman. he can withstand long battles and overcome with a victory. We don't know his limits and his Will makes him stronger. So it doesn't matter how strong his opponent maybe, supes will not give up until the very end whereas other characters might be drain due to the battle link and their condition. Of course if they use kryptonite **cough.. batman.... cough** they would beat him but thats to predictable and really makes the fight pointless unless Superman some how turns evil and destroy world.

Use Superman vs goku for example: the battle was long and superman was taking hits whereas goku was getting weak and going all out with his super sayains transformation draining all his powers.

-Flight (big advantage)

-Durability (taking nukes to the face...really?)

-Resurrection (cause Superman, bitch)

-Healing/charging (he's a solar battery. More sun, more power. Put him IN the sun...and he's invincible)

-Awareness (he can hear things coming from planets away, so even if Flash deceives the eye, he can't go undetected)

Superman IS OP as fking bawls. The only way we runs into trouble is by fighting random ass, nearly invincible bad guys the writers have to toss out because HE'S TOO STRONG. There's no sense of balance. How the hell are the likes of Cyborg, Batman, Night Wing, Green Arrow...hell...how is the likes of nearly ANY other hero supposed to tango with Superman? Wonder Woman tried, and she was getting the crap beat out of her while Superman was doing his infamous "2 minute flight to the sun and back".

Batman here first and foremost, I like supes but it depends on the artist/writer combo for me. I agree that in an official story supes would overcome any obstacle and I guess that's why everyone has a soft spot for him. He is the human spirit basically. And that's what makes him so great.

But in a what if story I gotta give it to surfer simply because he could travel back to the moment kal was on his way to earth as an infant and well stop him from becoming superman. But that's not fun I guess.

Can we please not turn this thread into another comic geek debate thread that has arguments over god mode characters that lead nowhere? Obviously this game features toned down versions of the characters so there's no use trying to bring comic book "canon" into this. It's more of a popularity contest if anything.

#87 @Chipndip - Remember Batman has defeated Superman (though people argue about it being canon/non canon.)

Batman has:
(i) He once defeated him with the aid of Green Arrow and a kryptonite tipped arrow.
(ii) Once in his Justice League Doom plan (which took down the entire Justice League.)
(iii) And a 3rd time which I can't remember how (something to do with a compressed gas powered gun that fired a kryptonite bullet, turning Superman “human” and then proceeded to beat the hell out of him and capturing him.)

Plus Superman does have a few weaknesses:
(i) Red Sun.
(ii) Kryptonite (in its different types.)
(iii) Heat vision drains his solar power super-fast. Faster than any other ability he has so he can’t spam it.
(iv) Magic – he has no “special” resistance to it, so for him it’d be like what we would class as a normal 1 Vs. 1 fight, equal playing field.
(v) No sunlight to provide him with solar power, it can be depleted overtime during an activity i.e. a fight.
(vi) Unlike other characters he doesn’t spend time harnessing his fighting skills, so will get bodied if someone uses the above combinations combined with awesome MMA skills.

Yep. This is just fun for us. I think Superman is only rivaled in plot armor by Joker, so I think Joker is the only likely DC character that could kill Superman, admittedly I am not that experienced when it comes to DC, though. You would think Green Lantern could beat him, though.
