Super Smash Land makes Super Smash Brothers into original Gameboy game

If you ever wondered what your favorite Super Smash Brothers characters would look and play like on the original Gameboy, look no further. Super Smash Land is a free, fan made PC game developed by Dan Fornace, that takes the Super Smash Brothers formula and puts it into the style of an original Gameboy game.

Some of Nintendo's most well known characters are playable including Mario, Link, Pikachu, Kirby and there is even an appearance by Capcom's own, Mega Man.

Although this project was released some time ago, this is still quite the awesome achievement. You can snag a free download of this game for PC on the Super Smash Land website.

Check out the trailer below.

Why not do NES style. Gameboy style is kinda lame with no color.

@ #2

We didn't start covering non-Capcom fighters until last year. Even then, this is still just something awesome we thought we'd share.

LOL Everybody complaints about old news as if everyone had to know everything the minute it happened. Give em' a break. Besides, this is awesome enough to post it 10 times and it's still be interesting. Only problem I have with this is no Samus. :(

Surprised you guys haven't covered Super Smash Flash 2. After almost 7 years since the firs game was released. This new one seems more polished. Check it out.

New to me too. I don't know why anyone wouldn't just emulate smash64 or melee on their cpu, but this looks kinda cool too i guess

See Hasbro, no company here Capcom or Nintendo is file a Cease and Desist order here. It's free and it's for the sake of fun. A petition to get MLP:FisM will be up soon!

@2 I had a GB pocket. I played the hell out of it, but the graphic style is basically NES -color. So why not add color if it's not even a legit gameboy game?

@6 there is a difference between reporting something late and reporting something years after release. I actually got my hopes up thinking there was an update when I saw the article.

I will agree with some of you about the color but I think they should've at least had it as the option for the case of the nostalgia crowed who prefer the Gameboy filter.

We should have gotten a SSB game for the GBA, seriously. Although... how would the game play with only 2 buttons? Jumping can be done with Up... but what about Guard and throws?
