Tom Taylor, Injustice comic writer: Writing Superman's tragedy was the hardest thing I'd ever written This story contains spoilers to the Injustice: Gods Among us prequel comic, read at your own risk.

IGN did another interview with Injustice: Gods Among Us prequel comic writer, Tom Taylor where they discuss various topics from the comic. Most of what is talked is the death of Lois Lane and her unborn child at the hands of Superman.

In particular, he notes that is was the hardest thing he's ever written and that he was "horrified" when he was told he had to write a comic where his hero was tricked into killing his wife and unborn child.

Additionally, Tom is asked about future events that fans might have to embrace themselves for.

IGN: I’m not sure things can get any darker than they are right now in Injustice, but are there any other events on this scale that fans should brace themselves for?

Taylor: This is a dark comic. There’s no doubt about it. I think I said in our last chat that nothing and no one is sacred in this comic. I think you now see what I mean. There are going to be more shocks. There is going to be more pain. More beloved characters have hard times coming.

Head over to IGN for the full interview.

Yeah I heard some Super-Man fans would go as far as "boycott" injustice for making Super-Man al violent and such lol

Comic is actually pretty good so far, interested how this prequel story turns out

You can go to any comicbook store and pick up Injustice #1, which has all the chapters so far. Or you can get them individually online for a buck each.

I sent news about the physical copy of this comicbook release last week and it was ignored. Or maybe you guys had lots of mails and it got lost. I don't like to think that it only got rejected because it isn't a Street Fighter comicbook.

@11 No... No way Superman is no way gonna be like this...Ever.

Yes, I will admit that he did kill at times on his time, but that was in the Golden Age/Earth 2 when Superman was pretty hardcore...then he changed his morals and no longer killed anyone. Sorta like Batman originally had no problem carrying and using a gun...then that changed as well. Plus, he makes up for it in the later comics on how he redeem himself by standing by on his ethics and hold it dear to his heart.

In a song “Superman (It’s Not Easy)”, Five For Fighting said these truthful words in Superman’s point of view “ I’m more than a bird, I’m more than a plane, I’m more than a pretty face beside the train. It’s not easy to be me.” There is more to what makes Superman heroic. The most important key factor that makes Superman heroic is the values his foster parents the Kents raised him with. His act of courage is what makes him heroic like Samson and Hercules. His use of his abilities to help people instead of terrorizing them is another factor of what makes him heroic. The greatest factor next to his moral values is being an alien or immigrant coming to a different world to make a difference.

The question is how did he become Superman? Well he did not just wake up one day and become Superman, he made that choice to become the man of tomorrow. The television series “Smallville” and the new graphic novel Superman: Earth One are perfect examples of how Clark Kent made that choice to become the hero is known as today. With all the powers he have, he could have been an athlete, scientist, or even ruler of the world, Heck, it's been proven that he can even rule the FREAKING UNIVERSE, but instead he chose to use his powers to help protect the people of Earth.

Superman is one of the strongest heroes in DC comics. Another reason why he is the greatest hero is because of his humility and, in my opinion, his greatest power: his self restraint. As Batman mention before, Superman have powers that could compete with God and states that Superman does not realize that much to Batman’s relief. Superman sees himself not as a god but someone who is only here to help and expects nothing in return. In Superman: Secret Origins, Superman tells the citizens of Metropolis not look at him as a savor.

Superman is a legendary hero who will always be number one in my book. As other heroes cross the line between good and evil not caring about moral values, Superman refuses to cross that line. Superman repents us all who could have cross the line and take matters into their own hand but chooses not to. Kal-el made the choice to become the protector of the Earth not only out of honor of his biological and foster parents, but out of his own free will.

He's more than a boy scout, he is a true hero.

So far from what I have seen this feels really out of character for everyone mostly with superman. There are GREAT Superman is evil or goes evil stories. Like Red Son or Bruce Timm's Justice League. Aside from how silly the trick was(seriously it only worked because the characters were dumb) One of the big issues with this one is they are taking it as if a Superman exactly like mainstream Superman was the one involved which plain does not work. Even if you are to have Superman cross the line more likely then TAKING OVER THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN WORLD he would kill the person who tricked him and probably become a recluse...at his worst. The unborn baby part also feels like it was tacked on for SHOCK. Actually they used shock a number of times here in these artials. It is going to be a Cry For Justice level dumb I am feeling

Superman in the "For the Man who has everything" is how a real angry Superman should be. He beat the brains out of Mongul.

I've noticed that in American comic books, a story that is "dark and edgy" is automatically considered the same thing as legitimately good writing.

Also, bad writers tend to stuff women into refrigerators when they can't think of any other ideas to give male characters their story arcs.

The USA Comic Book Industry went through the phase in the 90's, it overcame that gap years ago. The second point is somewhat true.

Stuffing Women in fridges or Moe stuff? Hard to choose lol.

Good to see that this game lives up to the premise of ''Beat the living hell out of Superman as your favorite DC character''. I'll relish it.

How about neither? That seems like the best choice, to me. =P

Why is everyone getting so frustrated at Supermans actions? First of all this is an alternate universe so it's not like this actually effects anything. Secondly, he hasn't gone completely evil like people are making it out to be. He was just tricked into killing his own wife and unborn kid, Metropolis just got nuked, and people are calling him the evil one because he took revenge on the guy that did it?
