Hold on there fella.. It's waaayyy too early for tier lists in this version of the game.
Guy? Chun Li? Dudley? Yeah it must be waaay too early to predict sh*t like tiers anyway.
Way too early. But it's his opinion.
any who, great match, just didn't...last as fast as I thought it would.
Early tier lists like this are still relevant, highlighting characters that are definitely strong, and PR Rog is very qualified to offer a list that carries some actual weight. It's refreshing to see his list doesn't include dive kick or gimmick characters at this point.
i definitely agree on JIN, LAW and CHUNLI
Law has great anti-air and insane combo mix ups, chun-li has great pokes and deals a great amount of damage
jin is just too good now, with his quick speed and safe over-head mixups, he's too damn strong
my other 2 would be heihachi (high low god) and ogre (mostly safe strings)
@6: Paul's neutral game is terrible. High damage alone doesn't make you top tier.
chun li as the secret top character in vanilla sfxt
Honestly, I feel Law's number 1 easy. His reach punishes ANYTHING IN THE GAME. Eve Ryu's close HK is unpunishable by ANYONE ELSE but Law. That's some straight bonkers shiz. That + his ability to just stay safe all day makes him really good.
As far as tiering goes, all I know is that Guy ISN'T top five, and Law should be top 1. Chun and Jin are good picks for a top five, but Kazuya and Nina should be up there too. Nina's got a ton of damage on offense and defense, and one good EWGF combo from Kaz is 500+ meterless. Meaning you can pull out 500+ damage out of your ass as soon as round 1 starts, assuming you've practiced your EWGFs enough. When people start tapping into that, it'll be over...
Edit: Also, why is Ross so damn free all the time? Isn't he supposed to be a top player? D:>
@24
Law can't punish anything in the game, and some others can punish Ryu's Cl. HK. Also, Kazuya's EWGF can't be done by anyone either, so a simple 430+ from almost anyone is just as good imo.
@29: There's really only Vega. There's hardly anyone else that can punish Ryu's cl. HK with a full combo. Maybe a Super Art if done by...another Ryu or someone that's able to reach him in time, but I've been using that cl. HK repeatedly and getting away without a scratch almost every time. Law and Vega are the only that punish it, and it's one of the safest heavy moves in the game, if not THE safest, purely because it pushes the opponent so far away. If Law can punish somethning that only Vega can punish, then damn it, that's some reach.
On the other side of things...he's safe as hell. Like wtf? =l
As for the EWGF thing, 430 meterless is amazing damage. Some chars need meter just to break 300. I'm not saying it's easy to do EWGF, but sooner or later, it's gonna be insane.
Cosign #31!! Guy has a good mixup game and some sexy combos but that's about it. I think his neutral footsies game is below average, he needs to use meter in most cases for a reversal and (as far as I know) his damage output is pretty normal.
Characters like JIN & LAW on the other hand... These characters are out of control!
Rog is so cute. ^.^" ♥
My Chun-Li?? Top 5?? I know it may sound weird, but I really hope not, she is good, but I hope not top 5. I can agree with Jin and effing annoying ass Law though. I don't have a top 5 yet because it IS really early. But Jin and Law do seem like good candidates.
@33
It's only safe cause of the distance, but trust me, a lot more people can punish it on block, doesn't even have to be on a combo either.
I know Dudley is good, his damage potential is high and he has several juggle options. But top 5? We'll have to wait and see.
As for Guy, one thing I did notice is his LK Tatsu does three hits and leaves the enemy airborne. This makes the move very ideal to use to tag in your partner mid-combo. But I'm not a top player, so he must have more going for him.
rogs list is pretty good, most of the characters he mentioned have damaging special moves that lead to big damage and are safe on block,law for example all his combo starters have no penalty on block and lead to 50% damage.pretty derpy
i can tell guy has a lot of potential in this game that has
yet to reach the surface! only more replays will tell...
law is pretty top 5 for me!~ it's true, most of his moves are
safe as balls (?), and his 3-hit move is as fast as nipples.
@26 & @27
no one is saying that their opinion is better than Rog's. everyone is just saying its too early for any tier list he mentions to even really mean anything especially for someone who is just coming back to SFxT and hasnt been playing all the way since vanilla. doesnt matter whether or not hes win every tournament in the world or went to SBO for a different game, any tier list this early is irrelevant.
in short, dont take everything a known name says as the holy word of god.
@38
Don't let other people tell you who you can or cannot play. Show some real character loyalty and play her regardless of her tier.
You people don't know anything. Yeah there have been changes but not to the point were its a totally different game. The simple spam crap was taking out Nd mindless crap. It's easy for these top players to say who they think is top tier they put the time in to study the game. When your playing in top tournaments and dominating then speak who you think is top tier other wise your option has no leverage. People saying paul top tier no he's got great damage that's All not allot of mixups still slow normals aren't that great. And it ain't early the game has been out for almost a year allot of changes yeah but not to the point it ain't easy to figure out for these top players
i think it's better to break it up into point and anchor since some characters are just extremely scary in the right positions.
top 5 point- guy, chun, lili, law, akuma
top 5 anchor- dudley, jin, marduk, kazuya, hugo
How the hell does point/anchor exist when it only takes one person being knocked out to lose? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of anchor? This ain't Marvel.
@51
As long as there is a character that starts and another that comes out later, there is a point. Anchor is not exactly accurate rate but do we really need to debate semantics here.
Personally, I think the best character would be determined by what is the best team more than just one character's match up or position.
eh. idc. first/last, point/anchor, call it whatever you want. but some characters are better when starting off and some are better when being tagged in. guy x dudley for instance. guy can bully his way in and has excellent normals for footsies. dudley gets walled out VERY easily by quite a lot of characters but his mix ups and damage are good. so having guy help dudley get in and then going to work with high/low is a more solid strategy than taking huge risks with dud's crappy range.
Okay Eventhubs... Come on now... A top players opinion about a tier list, of ALL things, is NOT a top story.
I can't believe how long it's taking you people to figure out this game is still ass. Slow learners lol.
I just don't agree with them being declared point and anchor. I agree at the start some characters are better starting of the rounds, building meter etc but as the other poster said with the game only requiring one character KO, its a bit pointless to declare them to have certain roles. Also unlike Marvel, the order is prone to get mixed up alot more due to the one ko situation and the boost combos being so utilised and tagging them out.
Just my opinion though
