Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • February 4, 2013 at 9:02 a.m. PST
Evo2kvids uploaded a brief trailer announcing the inclusion of Winter Brawl 7 in the Road to Evo 2013 line up. This now adds an official Road to Evo tournament on the East coast which many players felt there was a lack thereof.

Winter Brawl 7 will be taking place on February 23 - 24 in Philadelphia, PA. You can check out the official trailer and bit more information on the event here.

It's about time. There's no valid reason to remove such staples in the FGC besides EVO feeling threatened by VXG. Now they need to bring back Final Round and ECT at the least.

Its that their are so many EVO qualifiers now all over the world. there used to be so many EVO qualifiers in america it makes sense to spread it out a bit, but i am happy that the east coast got a qualifier.
Now Triforce's theory about the east coast not being profitable for E-sports can be put to rest

@4: except now he'll say that the Illuminati just did that to appease the East Coast TOs and they'll just use the hype footage for EVO like they do every year #conspiracies

@6 The northeast is the most populated area of the country, nyc has 8 million people alone. It wouldn't make sense to not have that region represented and force them to hop on a plane for every road to evo event.

I think of Road to Evo events as regional tournaments. I think it's important to have road to evo events in each demographical region of the US. Adding winter brawl fills that void of not having a north east regional. Not adding ECT to the mix or final round in understandable considering that it would male multiple regionals in very short distance from each other. Maybe a regional in Texas would be nice to cover central region.

This is great! Although.. something tells me triforce and his goons will still complain about something else..

Sweet, now we need to have final round on the road.

That's nice.

I still have to travel upwards of 12 hours if I want to make it to a EVO qualifier.

Im just Glad they were willing to add a qualifier to the north east, its like last year with the evo badges, they were going to be 50 bucks but changed it to 10 after people voiced their concerns. Its nice to see they listen.

This is very cool for them to add a Northeast major to the road to Evo. I just don't understand why they wouldn't add at least ECT, Big E tourny or Final round to the mix and the West coast gets SCR and NCR. Nonetheless this is good news.

Good to see this getting announced to fill that NE void. When you think of west coast Cali is the first state that comes to mind and specifically SoCal. They got a regional no prob. And when you think east coast I'd argue the first state that should come to mind is New York, more specifically that Philadelphia/Boston/New York city region. Sure its not as close knit as say SoCal or NorCal but it is filled with killers and top talent and deserves to have a Road to Evo qualifier to recognize that. And for all those wondering why not FR? Well they where actually Evo's TO's first choice but they opted out and have decided to do their own thing. So this is a great way to make up for that.
