Sony has cut ties with SuperBot Entertainment shortly after laying off a number of it's staff a few days ago. This has been confirmed by both Sony Computer Entertainment and SuperBot's president David Yang.
Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that the working agreement with developer SuperBot Entertainment has amicably ended.
We have had a positive working relationship with this talented studio, and wish them the best of success in their next endeavor. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and the title's forthcoming DLC releases will continue to be fully supported by Santa Monica Studio
In reply to an email from Kotaku, David Yang, SuperBot Entertainment's president had this to say.
I hope Clockw0rk has moved on to bigger and better things.
@2
No, he still works for Superbot. It's not like the company is dead just because Sony cut ties with them. This news simply means that they're done being involved with PS All-Stars.
@6
Seth works for Sony's Santa Monica studios. He was not part of Superbot's layoffs.
Let's avoid any sky-is-falling panic, people.
I hope they anticipated this and are ready to come out w/ a fighting game of their own! If they can continue devoloping and are successful, they'll establish another path of opportunity for other pro players, in turn driving others to get great at "X" fighting game. Grats on getting the game out Superbot!
Neat, looking forward to what Seth Killian does with PSABR now that it's under his studio, and looking forward to what SuperBot makes on their own.
That's fine, and it makes sense because Omar did work on some multiplatform games in the past.
@12 That doesn't mean the game flopped, its just that Super Bot is done with the main game that was release, because they got laid off which is very common on work business.
@15 Lets be honest, these other people will never understand business. Heck they will never really know how videogame business really works, even certain details leads to the truth.
@24 If its that link in your comment #14, I did read it.
Heres a few things to respond about this...
1. Sales chart & Blockbuster games: It honestly no surprise that games like COD, AC3, & Far Cry 3 is over populated, while fighter games (I hate saying this) is mediocre to marketing. Heck I remember a topic that Tekken Tag 2 made $100,000 sale which was not good, my guess is that Borderlands 2 made more sales than Tekken Tag 2.
Another problem is the gamers themselves, when comes to any fighter game (depends on game) theres a learning curve no matter what buttons you got for each game, what a big group of people will say is "fighting games is too hard" even if it was simple buttons the problem is that people don't want to learn anything, they would rather play something completely easy its brain dead (no hate nor bash intend) games like COD because its about click and shoot thats pretty much about it.
2. Characters from certain Genre: Mostly with characters (even with Mature rated games), that pretty much is that theres been history of Playstation in general that these Mature games were very popular from God of War, Devil May Cry, & Killzone. Another fact is Playstation don't make more classic icon characters for all ages something you would see in the 80s to 90s from Mario, Sonic, Megaman (Rockman), Banjo & Kazooie, Donkey Kong etc.
3. Money: Well its another thing, not everyone is rich or has something special, I can understand that money isn't the faint of heart. Heck I didn't buy a few games that I'm interest, but there were certain games more importain to me.
Despite everything Playstation All-Stars is a very good game, it only depends on what people are actually interest and it can't please everyone.
@28 I agree with your post, never said the game wasn't good, I just said that it not doing well in sales might possibly be one of the reasons why Sony is cutting ties with Superbot. It's not a completely farfetched idea.
First Wipeout, then Starhawk, now this. Sony isn't screwing around anymore. Once they see the sales weren't so hot and their game below 80, It just goes for the kill. I can already see Insomiac dealing with this.
@30 It makes sense, they aren't trying to waste money by putting it into something that isn't gonna sell well.
This is what happens when you release a game where the outcome of matches is determined if you land your super or not. Go ahead tell me how great this game is but that factor makes the outcome of matches more random.
@32 The outcome isn't random, there is techinal skill to explore or ways to get a free kill. The game outcomes is not the right reason, its like what comment #14 said. Heres another thing what Nintendo, Capcom, Sega, Namco, Rare, Ubisoft etc. has is what Sony & Microsoft lacks and that is iconic all age mascot character.
#11 I got u,

#9 phew,thanx for the info now I can turn my sky-is-falling panic switch off
On the game, I think the game was a flop out of my whole friend list I seen 2 b the only one who plays PSAS if they are not working for Sony, they should lower DLC cost to $2 each since Sony cant heckle them about money, mayb..jus a thought
Why would you have Americans make a fighting game, Sony?
Wouldn't surprise me if this game flopped due to pathetic Nintentards pointlessly hating on this game because it's a "rip-off" of Smash Bros.
I was just going to say the same. I'm sure the 3 iterations of Smash made that game the staple party/ffa/team fighter in a console. No one cares for a new release of that kind of game anymore. A little too late imo.
I didn't buy this game because it's core gameplay is unappealing and its choice of characters is poor.
Akuma you're crazy on the poor choices(I respect your opinion on gameplay but disagree, this cast was the most diverse cast of heroes, anti heroes, villains and just normal people(Parappa, FP and Toro are not really heroes just people going through life and having Adventures) that has ever existed in a cross over game. Only two characters act remotely the same in terms of moveset and even the final boss is very inspired as it's literally a forgotten godlike creature.
