Well if it follows the canon storyline of sf where Ryu fights Hugo ( as it seems to imply it does),
then "Sheng Long" kind of gets defeated, it has to do with the mistranslation of that...

Just a quick correction for the title, it's fûrinkazan (or fuurinkazan if you don't like the macron/circumflex) instead of furrinkazan.

I like the animation, it bugs me that ryu looks like a scronny teenager.

No, not really,back in the day it was frowned upon 2 hit a girl in America so, in Final Fight, they made her a dude so the game wiol b more accepted in America,thus giving the idea that she was a dude n the vid was jus making a joke

The Poison thing had been discussed to death. Really doesn't matter what she was historically. She's a woman by gender. The insecurity of old is why these meaningless debates keep on going.

The COMPANY decides the canon of any game. Hence why Birdie's black NOW, but before he was Caucasian. In that vid, he said Capcom's latest answer was "there's no answer" (I saw the interview where he got this from too, but I'm not about to dig it up). If that's the company's final say on the IP, then who gives a fk what that dumb video says. It's ambiguous. If you want her to be a tranny, let it be so. Most people apparently do, but I don't.

It's a cute little vid, but it's the company behind the IP that decides what's what. Until they update that answer with an official, your best way to go about it is "she in gender" and "(s)he in sex".

Now that that's out of the way, this is pretty sweet.

Until they give a new stance on the matter later than this one, this is answer one should "officially" go by. I give the video creator props for doing his research though, but the funny thing about IPs is that, at the end of the day, 2+2 CAN equal fish. If the company so chooses...

Ummm Poison was referred to as a "new half" (which means transgender) in her original concept art. She appeared in the original Final Fight for the Sega as a chick (New half) with modifications to her clothing to make her less revealing. The "America frowned on hitting women" was only relevant to the Nintendo port of the game; thus the replacement characters.

She is still a transgender character; always has been and was only changed for the original Nintendo port of the game. Be happy that capcom fancies diversity. She isn't the first transgender character in Japanese media to be attractive.

Hell, real transgender people look just as good; just Google actress "Candis Cayne". Quit being so intimidated.
