Elena looks like a pain 2 fight with her healing ultra.

Did you see the shining effect on Elena's skin?

There was one particular girl that stood out from the rest
Poison as can be, the high power chest

Poison, deadly, movin' it slow
Can't wait to put my Poison on show!

During her match against Cody, why is the top of Poison's hat red?
Lazy alternate color? A bug? Or a mechanic I've never heard of...? Or am I just a moron?

Rolento seems soooo good...

Vince is IGN's fighting game expert so to speak. About time they got someone with a decent grasp on the genre.

Hey that was... actual information. From IGN. Weird.

After clicking the Poison video I scrolled through the comment section, big mistake. I can’t believe how many people still can’t accept that the character was created as a newhalf. What’s the big deal? You can’t play her because you wouldn’t nail her? So... you play Ryu because of what now?

Can’t wait for the "you’re gay"-hate mails because I beat up scrubs with Poison -.-

But yeah… nice breakdowns IGN, I really didn’t expect this from you.

Surprisingly good breakdowns for a non fighting game site like IGN.

Elena, Poison and Rolento look like solid characters for this edition. Don't care for Hugo. Never Like grapplers.

Also I recall reading the 5th character is female. Hmm I hope she's similar to Karin. I know we're getting lots of rekka style characters now but I like the different rekka moves Karin had.

Looks like a great update so far.

I'm so looking forward to trying Hugo even though he'll end up being the worst character in the game probably.

RebornOdin said on December 17, 2013 at 2:48 p.m.

Except he's not. He has extremely good corner pressure, his damage is insane (See also, comboing into Backbreaker or Ultra 2 after Super), and he can set up his own mix-ups off of a clap. Hugo right now is probably top 3 in terms of his corner pressure game.

#16
brandaman69 said on December 17, 2013 at 2:58 p.m.

His corner pressure is good but he does not have good anti airs, his command grab is not that damaging, his jump is awful, his pokes are not great, and his hitbox is huge.

#17
BlackOnyxThunder said on December 17, 2013 at 2:58 p.m.

Wow is this really IGN?...
But anyways Hugo looks like hes going to be a real pain in certain "match ups", can't wait to play Elena, and Rolento though!
But then again dat Poison ;) don't care if shes a "newhalf!"
shes mine... all mine baby!
BTW: "this game looks great not as bad as i thought actually" ~ BlackOnyxThunder 2013

Oh man, great breakdowns! Can't wait to get hatemail for playing Elena when it comes out. :P

GodPride said on December 17, 2013 at 3:03 p.m.

It looks like Bison's cap. I honestly thought it looked good on Poison. If she had a top to match, she could end up looking like Mario with those blue jean short shorts.

Anyway that Poison intro and outro....Capcom went in.

Elena seems to have the makings of a broken character. Rolentos wall bounce being full invincible makes 0 sense considering Gens EX Oga had that in vanilla and was removed, seeing as how that was OP as hell and Vanilla Gen was stomping all other character.

Wait...

oh and dat poison win pose

1. No good anti-airs? Backbreaker, EX Backbreaker, forward HP, and neutral jumping HP say 'Hi'.

2. His command grab puts him right next to his opponent and the damage is very similar to Zangief's SPD, if not just slightly less. Even so, the reward for the command grab is great.

3. Yes, his jump is awful. Every single grappler-focused character has an awful jump.

4. s.MP? c.LK? c.MK? s.HP? s.LP? c.LP?

5. I sure as hell hope it's huge or else there's a very large discrepancy.

Elena = Broken!

#26
BlackOnyxThunder said on December 17, 2013 at 3:31 p.m.

Hey Tom Cruz....
I think Capcom's trying to make Elena more like her 3Strike version, with all of those fast specials and some to little wake-up options...?

yaranaika said on December 17, 2013 at 3:44 p.m.

Saw IGN, expected massive scrub levels of insight. Was pleasantly surprised.

#28
GodPride said on December 17, 2013 at 3:56 p.m.

I heard the backbreaker is best used against people trying to avoid the throw mixup by jumping back and is not necessary good against people jumping in on Hugo at close range. What's his wakeup options? That's pretty much what determines where he'll stand amongst the cast.

What's up with all the new characters having easy ways to combo into their ultra? They are some of the only characters in the game that only need to spend one bar to do it. Right now all the other old characters that can combo easily in their ultra require alot of skill to do it, like Dee Jay's ex MGU into ultra 2 or Ken's standing jab into ultra 2. It's just weird how the new characters can seem to hit theirs so easily compared to the rest of the cast.

Emp_Disruptah said on December 17, 2013 at 4:13 p.m.

Vincent Ingenito is the guy who reviewed Killer Instinct and made this videos, and he really does know his fighting game stuff. Cool little breakdowns.

his wake up options are... hes a grappler.

#35
roarmonster said on December 17, 2013 at 4:40 p.m.

honestly I hope they buff hugo a little bit....so what if he becomes pretty good? Kinda tired of grapplers being @ss, someones gotta be top tier

Yeah, I kind of agree seems a little off doesn't it... hopefully Capcom will make it "easier" for the old "cast" to combo into there ultras? But who knows...

Green016 said on December 17, 2013 at 5:14 p.m.

@16 Top three lol? Okay pick Hugo and play a good Sagat, Ryu, Juri, Akuma, Guile, DeeJay, Gouken, or any other character that can zone you out and get back to me okay buddy. He has to get in first to use that corner pressure and that will be brutal against good players who know what they're doing.

Of course against the typical online scrub Hugo will seem op just like any other grappler.

#43
Cael said on December 17, 2013 at 5:16 p.m.

So why did they remove Elena's jiggle when they ported her over? I don't care much about it, but it's just... wierd

#44
RandomSelectMaster said on December 17, 2013 at 5:45 p.m.

Based on on the video, Poison's pressure and pokes are amazing. I can see her as top tier.

#45
Zenfluence said on December 17, 2013 at 5:47 p.m.

Come on now let him be..he just jumped on the "Japan players didnt like 1st/2nd day Hugo so hes bad" train like so many others -_-.

Japan is obviously higher than everyone in SFIV skill, but they calculated a (unfinished...)character's full potential in a single day? Come back to reality.

If they actually paid enough attention to form a informed opinion, both Hungbee and Combofiend showed decent Hugo play during US loctests

#46
Villest1 said on December 17, 2013 at 5:52 p.m.

Yeah, Vince Ingenito is a new hire at Ign and unlike most of the ign staff who have covered FG's In The past, he is actually a legit FG fan. Not that casual play it for a month or so type of FG player.

#47
perfume said on December 17, 2013 at 5:56 p.m.

Nah, she was actually created as a female, then changed to a newhalf when Americans got butthurt over women getting hit in videogames. So yeah, she's a girl.

#48
Darc_Requiem said on December 17, 2013 at 6:14 p.m.

I see people are still spouting this BS. Poison was always a "newhalf". She's just a video game character. Why is it so difficult for people to accept the truth about Poison?

#49
Taateflaske said on December 17, 2013 at 6:20 p.m.

It's a bit weird that all the new characters got this, but a lot of the older characters can also combo easily into ultra using one or zero bars: Chun-Li, Ryu, Balrog, Rufus, Abel, C. Viper, Dudley, Makoto, Juri, etc...

#50
ury said on December 17, 2013 at 7:06 p.m.

Dude, if you absolutely need to imagine this, in your words, "Video game character" with a wee-wee, go right ahead!
But what Perfume said IS the official story behind her. It is the actual history of final fight. When this first blew up this was all covered......for months. And months.

#51
Topaz said on December 17, 2013 at 8:29 p.m.

The "she was changed to male due to censorship" is a persistent but wrong piece of misinformation. The character was originally designed as a transgender, as this video details at length:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Lj-9n...

Just accept it.

#52
BlackOnyxThunder said on December 17, 2013 at 9:04 p.m.

Noooooo, Yun and Yang both have a "crush" on the Houmei character...

#53
RandomSelectMaster said on December 17, 2013 at 10:23 p.m.

Thank you! I actually was wondering about this myself. Glad she is transgendered. Makes each character even more unique. I mean, if we can have a green monster whom does not look human at all and only cause he lived in the jungle, why can't we have a transgendered. Love it!

This could be a spoiler cause I am making a prediction on the new character based on this video...

ROXY!!! I kind of hope she is not a palette swap, but um, she has not been in any game since Final Fight and could change to female completely by the time Ultra takes place. Hmmm... at the same time though, they did say female... so maybe she/he is out. Just a unique assumption based on the video.

Thanks for posting the video Topaz, I was actually going to do exactly the same when I read that some people around here still believe the censorship-rumor. But I think I will post the video many more times in the future, the debate about Poison will never go away.

if poisons ex rekke is jump cancellable does that mean she can do jump cancellable shenanigans? or was that super jump only. i don't know i don't play ibuki or viper

#57
metaf4 said on December 18, 2013 at 1:38 a.m.

By the way I know who the 5th character is in Ultra SF4....its Asura.

They pretty much already gave us a full demo of the character since the game Asura's Rath. Here's the proof: http://youtu.be/Q3jlJbM6K5I

Characters moves, combos, supers...even character intros and opening VS profile.

#58
BlackRain said on December 18, 2013 at 1:53 a.m.

By the way, you’re late. Asura was disconfirmed directly by Ono a few weeks after the announcement of Ultra. Other than that... Asura isn’t really female, is he? The 5th character is female.

#59
HyperViperNZ said on December 18, 2013 at 9:50 a.m.

Lol bit late. The 5th character is confirmed to be a female.
