Daigo and Xian facing off at PAX Prime, exhibition matches scheduled featuring both players

Posted by Nicholas 'MajinTenshinhan' Taylor • August 16, 2013 at 7:09 a.m. PDT
Daigo and Xian facing off at PAX Prime, exhibition matches scheduled featuring both players PAX Prime is taking place between August 29th and September 2nd in Seattle, WA, and Mad Catz will have an event called Mad Catz unveiled at the expo, which will feature exhibitions between MCZ|Daigo and DM|Xian.

Mad Catz are flying them both out to the event to participate in several exhibition matches, battling against each other, and other exhibitions that have not yet been explained in full. This is something you won't want to miss, as it will be pitting perhaps the most legendary player in the Street Fighter 4 series, and two-time EVO champion, against the current EVO world champion, who has been on a dominating streak with his somewhat uncommon character Gen during this past year.

The event will also have access to the currently unreleased Killer Instinct, so if you're in the area, make sure to hit them up and try out this upcoming game, and join in the hype of two of the world's best players battling against each other.

The event will be taking place at Trinity Nightclub, 111 Yesler Way, Seattle, WA 98104 (Enter on Occidental Ave.), on Thursday, August 29th 2013, from 8PM to 1AM PDT. For full information and to purchase tickets, check out the official announcement at Mad Catz.com.

For this fight we need the CVS2 announcer voice, with the "its true love we're making" music, that was my favorite stage.lol I miss that game

Good luck to both of them!

Should be good - I am guessing this will be ran on AE 2012 in which Gen's wakeup is still broken?

Would be a good opportunity to showcase Ultra SF4 which gives Capcom an opportunity to iron out such 'bugs'!

"with his somewhat unusual character Gen" Unusual? That's not the right word. More like "with his uncommon character Gen"

This is the runback from their Topanga League matches where Daigo came out on top 12-10. Hype!

Hell yeah! Definitely going to hit this up. Work is gonna hella suck the next day. Maybe I should just sleep at the office since it's only a few blocks away from Trinity.

This is going to be awesome. Both won't have the evo jitters, so they will be playing at their best. Going to be an close bout.

Always close matches and brilliant to watch!

Ryu_Apprentice / #10,

Do you love misleading videos comparing console and PC versions of games even more?

Seriously before trying to be sarcastic with a 'lmao', go and do some research.

I've also got the guts to address you in a response directly.

Xian will win easily, assuming he puts forth his best effort. He's so ridiculously humble that I could easily imagine him holding back in an exhibition match.

Should be good as long as he doesn't get stubborn with his "psychic" shoryuken, like he did against Tokido at EVO. We've all seen how well that works.

llSilkCutll said on August 16, 2013 at 9:49 a.m.

@ 16 = Don't be silly

Daigo has beaten Xian's Gen with Ryu a few times before, as well as Xian Gen has also beaten Daigo. There is no such word as easy when you have these caliber of players playing!

@16 Even I'm not a daigo fan..but from your post, If Xian lost because he doesnt try hard to win? Are you kidding me? LoL

@17 Tokido outplayed him, and finally beat him in a huge event. I really believe that Tokido wanted that game way more than Daigo did, just consider how that kind of desire is a factor in a match. Sometimes I play against someone I know I'm better than, but they really, really want to win, and it's tough sometimes, you notice that they sometimes get the read when you think they shouldn't. Saying that Daigo just got stubborn with DP's is taking credit away from Tokido, and ignoring all the other subtle factors that decide how a match unfolds. For all I know I would have probably uppercutted the wind as well in that situation.

Daigo tends to bust out guess DPs when he can't control the flow of the game. When he is dominating with footsies and is in control he is clinical. But when he faces a top level player he can't bully sometimes he goes for the hail marys.

Has been the story of his top 8 matches the last few EVOs.

GeneralSpecific said on August 16, 2013 at 12:12 p.m.

The Ryu / Akuma match has been made infinitely easier for Akuma since 2010.

Ryu lost all escape options (air tatsu) when in the corner.
Akuma retains all escape options and at the end has a better crouching medium kick hitbox. (Seriously, what the hell?)
Capcom have also done something funny with Akuma's hitboxes when he throws fireballs, whereas it's alot easier to stuff Ryu's out of his startup.

In other words, Capcom have been sneaky and underhanded with their 'rebalancing'.

Clearly Ryu has been at a disadvantage ever since Daigo used him to win EVO twice in a row.

Somebody's nose was out of joint. =]

As a Gen player I still don't know how xian even manages to put up as much fight as he does. The guy can't be human. That being said its daigo so u know it's gonna be a war.

@ generalspecific

Love the name. Sheep was awesome. But why cry on Gen tho the char lacks many tools that other chars abuse and most ppl don't know the matchup and cry broken. All so called unblockable setups with Gen can be defended and/or escaped. If u crybabies cause Gen to get nerfed then goes to show that 99% of yall are scrubs. Xian won evo cuz he's a top level player. Gen however is still upper mid tier at best.

Thanks for all the tech and videos man keep it up and let these salty scrubs die from high blood pressure (cuz too much salt is bad for you).

trinispartan / #24,

Just pointing out that there is something wrong with Gen's wakeup in AE 2012.

There was a post up above replying with a 'lol' which I interpret as being sarcastic.

I addressed it directly. That's all!

I would go to this if I still lived in Seattle. Great city for a great event. Gen's options are not broken on wake-up. So many characters have ambiguious set-ups for huge damage . Gen earns everything he gets. Too many scrubs on here.just another day on Eventhubs.
