FGTVLive's balance change suggestions to UMvC3 part 3 - Dr. Doom, Zero, Spencer, Haggar, Chris and more The guys over at FGTVLive return to discuss some more possible balance changes they'd like to see applied to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Today we have part 3 of their potential changes this time focusing on the characters: Dr. Doom, Spencer, Zero, Nemesis, Nova, Arthur, Haggar and Chris.

Doctor Doom

- When calling Doom with Plasma Beam assist, he comes in where the point character is standing instead of behind the point character. This is to make it easier to “Happy Birthday” and punish Doom in general.

- Remove hard knockdown from j.S Foot Dive. Speed remains the same. The hitstun will be similar to that of F+H Foot Dive and will reward players who can convert off of those types of foot dives.

- j. S Foot Dive no longer has a vertical hitbox around Doom’s head.

- Tracking of Hidden Missiles assist adjusted. Missiles 2-6 only track where Missile 1 was tracking to prevent “combo breaking”. Makes Hidden Missiles assist easier to evade in general. Normal Hidden Missiles remains unchanged.

just remove doom and virgil from the game, mainly because even IF any balancing happens i'm sick of seeing them on screen. remove them both and the game would become much more interesting all around

I agree with removing the hitbox from Doom's head on j.s, because well it's stupid and makes no sense. Actually I'd remove it from the midriff up, why can he footdive you with his back?

But taking away the hard knock down? No way. And more needs to be done to missiles, they have way too much utility.

Only 1 change needs to happen to dooms missiles to make them balanced; when used as an assist they function exactly like every other assist characters projectiles, you hit Doom the missiles disappear. ONLY the assist version is changed not the normal version of Doom Missiles.

I'm telling you if you make Nememsis level 3 like venom's web super from mvc2, it'll be good. It hits full screen it's fast, but it's blockable.
I mean if he has animation of tentacles coming from all over his body, then doesn't it hit people in the air. I swear if nemesis had that it's be good.

Doom's j.S Foot Dive hard knockdown never should have been added to Ultimate. Also, the overly large hitbox of j.S wouldn't be a big deal if there wasn't a hard knockdown from it.

lol at doom changes. just make his hurtbox bigger/hitbox smaller on footdive and make missiles disappear on hit. plasma beam assist stance is an interesting change... i dont think its a must though.

agreed with nova kinda ... or maybe just lower knockdown time from his air grabs.

lol at haggar changes. give him a buff if anything. maybe make him invulnerable during the upward arc of the giant press? i dunno if he even really needs changes.

Yes, the posts can be avoided without too much trouble, but with all due respect, it's also fair to say that "fantasy balance change/fantasy content update" posts are better suited to the forum.

I 100% agree with the Zero changes. As a Zero player, I'm sick of everyone saying stupid changes like "Make lightning scale so lightning loops aren't possible", or "Make Zero unable to charge buster during Sougenmu so lightning loops aren't possible." FGTV's changes for Zero are great. They adjust his damage to what it is supposed to be but still leaving his neutral game alone.

only scrubs would complain about these doom changes. Footdive changes are amazing and remove the derp, while good players will be able to deal with missles much better but they wont be absolutely useless. Same with the beam.

so everyone b*tching about this being on the front page: top players are making suggestions to a game that *everyone* agrees needs to be patched. assuming capcom won't patch it and relegating discussion of such to forums just means it DEFINITELY won't get patched.

making stuff like this front page and getting everyone's input just proves our point when people make claims to capcom and request a balance update. quit whining about things you can simply not click on.

Why do you say that? Doom already has limited ways of getting in, that's why the S Foot Dive received those changes. He gets outzoned by most any top tier that can zone well.

The fact that he has an easy infinite, does good damage and is a great support character made certain things seem too good, he's kinda the total package right now. Patching TAC glitch, nerfing his assists and Foot Dive? Doom is now a mediocre character with little redeeming qualities, that's what these guys are asking for.

I agree with the Foot Dive hitbox change, and maybe the changes to the Missiles homing ability, but everything else just seem proposed out of salt. I don't like seeing so many Dooms on streams either, and he does need some adjustment no doubt, but whatever happened to just buffing the low tiers?

@30 Sentinel doesn't stay out as long as Doom does. And they approach from different directions. The missiles would still be a viable option if you can provide doom cover(but that's ironic isn't it? The assist is suppose to provide you cover) but they will definitely be super ass. Now, if they vanish when the point character gets hit. Thats fine.

I dunno about Spencer. He's basically untouched and can still kill most of the cast with like 2 meter.

And Arthur still has no answer to teleports. Other than that, I'm peachy.

Chris:

-needs bigger hitboxes/explosions for mine and M grenade; M grenade is practically worthless and mine gets beat out by a ton of air attacks (morrigan's shell kick, zero's sword, chun li's lightning kick, dante/vergil's helm breaker/hammer/air S, etc.)

-mine also needs to be put back closer to chris. it was pushed slightly forward in the patch

-Fire grenade needs a faster startup, and the corner glitch needs fixing.

-Flamethrower should either have a slightly bigger hitbox or faster startup.

-The first shot of his grenade launcher hyper should freeze opponents if they're hit in the air; it's stupid that currently it results in a soft knockdown.

-longer hitstun on air normals

I agree with the Nemesis stuff, especially the minimum scaling on his super, though I don't think the new special move with QCB + S is necessary since all you have to do is TK the rocket launcher to do what QCB + S would. What would be better is just having faster recovery on all forms of rocket launcher and faster startup on his command grabs. Also, if they were to make DP + M and overhead, it would need faster recovery or a higher groundbounce in order to combo after. And Biohazard Rush should have some form of invincibility on startup cause otherwise it's just a garbage super. With everything in the video and with what I just said, he could possibly become very viable.

yep, UMvC3 will never get an update but it's good to dream isn't it? I'm glad a "nerf" on Doom was listed: those damn missile tracking prowess. Avoiding him is a piece of cake, but when a character is backed up by that assist, gg against mixups. The only real "tweak" I think the game needs is making characters without air maneuvering (like Dr. Strange or Jill) have a chance against those that do (like Magneto or Doom), especially when your first character dies and your coming from the wall. Against Mag's air dash mixup game, Zero 50/50 lightning, or a Viper Focus Attack+Assist Lockdown,it is easily death unless X-factor is sacrificed. Yep, once again this is only an unrealistic dream. :)

j.s foot dive should still have a hard knockdown but shouldn't be able to freaking hit you from behind. missiles should be easier to avoid. i play doom but his hitboxes are retarded. I dont see a problem too much with his F. footdive but as for his j.s maybe if they can make it so that there is a reason to use it rather than spam it for no reason.

I don't think it's fair that Mags has an eight way air dash, flight, and one of the best j.H's in the game, while Arthur can't even dash. I don't see why everyon can't just have an airdash and/or double jump like in TvC. Everyone doesn't have to fly or anything, but what really kills characters in this game is their lack of mobility.
