Did You Know Gaming recently put together an excellent installment of their series that focuses on the Super Smash Bros. franchise. This video divulges a plethora of information that Smash Bros. fans may not have been familiar with.

The developers working on the series of games considered adding some strange but intriguing characters to their respective rosters. Rare's depiction of James Bond from Golden Eye, Banjo and Kazooie form their self titled game, Toon Zelda and Toon Sheik from the Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and many other all had a chance to be playable.

Most of these did make it to Brawl, so MAYBE, we see some of the others they left out on the next Smash.

In before mandatory "is smash a fighter" argument.

Plusle and Minun would have been fun, I was dissapointed that there was no Pichu in Brawl. Anyways, neat info.

So many omitted characters. There was also one fact left out of this video. Since the N64 version of Smash Bros. Meowth was going to be the second Pokemon character to play as. But because of the N64's limits, they had trouble rendering him in the game due to so much detail he had. Which is why they choose Jigglypuff since they used Kirby's base model and was easier to implement. There might be a chance Meowth might be playable in Kerfuffle.

SSB64-1999
PD-2000

Goldeneye 64 was still THE game when SSB droped, James bond would have great, and Banjo/Kazooie would have been perfect.

@1 Even if Banjo-Kazooie would appear in N64 version, but the N64 limited hardware would've prevented Banjo-Kazooie.

If the N64DD was there for SSB, that could've been characters that were consider to appear as an expansion pack which would give these characters a chance to appear. However the N64DD failed.

I hope they dont bring a crazy amount of playable pokemon in the wii u version. Three is enough and the rest in pokeballs.

Now they don't even have the freaking rights to Banjo anymore. =_=

They need to freaking buy Rare back. Please for the love of all things eternally good...buy Rare back...or buy Banjo back.

Or just give me Dixie in the next game. >_>

I want to see Crash Bandicoot or Spyro in smash bros wii u instead of Playstation battle royale xD

Anyway Rare was better with nintendo.

@9 Perfect dark is basically Goldeneye + more content. People who say goldeneye is better than perfect dark is silly.
Besides Joanna fits being in SSB more than james bonb.

They stiffed me in the first two games! Sakurai owes me some compensation! On a side note the king wishes to be graced with the company of Simon Belmont and/or Ryu.

AH HA! In the beginning it says Super Smash Bros's original title was going to be Dragon King: The Fighting Game. So it was intended to be a fighting game from very the start.

as much as I want nintendo to buy the rights of rare. You have to put in consideration that rare is not doing anything at the moment. They made some banjo games for for xbox and connect. Other than that there not doing crap. Theirs a huge demand for killer instinct but it seems they don't have the production funds. Rare might go out of buisness. I hope they go out of business so nintendo can swipe the license.
