Update on Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition's patch with notes Iron Galaxy has posted a new blog today, giving everyone an update on the current status of the Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition.

Hit the jump to see the full list of notes.

• We were able to successfully address the Netcode complaints. The Netcode is identical to what’s in MvCO, which has received a great response thus far.
• Replaced Ping colors with numbers (in milliseconds).
• We added matchmaking filters for Region, Opponent Skill, and Ping. This works like MvCO, where they are managed from a separate screen for all online game modes.
• Lobbies can be created to limit players to the same region you are in.
• Fixed the 8-max lobby problem on PS3.
• Added ability to “Mute All” on PS3. 360 players can handle this through the Guide.
• Super Art gauges are now the correct length.
• Fixed the color of Urien’s reflector for Player 2.
• Fixed Ryu’s bag not flopping over correctly.

• Added ability to turn off Challenges that appear on the side of the screen.
• The Difficulty setting now affects Arcade Mode.
• Fixed the visual glitch in Remy’s stage with Scan Lines on.
• Added some graphics to indicate player color during mirror matches. We didn’t end up altering the character portraits, but instead put some colored lines next to it. This ended up looking better, and still achieves the goal of showing which player is what color(s).
• Added “Disable Stun” to training options.
• Defaulted Gill to “Banned” in Player Match.
• The selection highlight remembers the last super you selected in multi-match modes. It doesn’t auto-pick it, the cursor just starts off on the last-selected super.
• Rank should no longer get reset to 0.
• Put Ready/Unready on separate controller buttons in lobby.
• Fixed the Poison color being incorrect for Player 2.
• Fixed some random locks/hangs.
• Made some changes to how the leaderboards get updated on PS3.
• YouTube uploads on 360 will be at 360p now.

Oh wow, definitely did not expect THAT many changes. Especially not the changes to the online matchmaking to be more like MvCO's. Shout outs to the Iron Galaxy crew!

They fixed all that but they didn't fix the game speed which was the biggest mechanical problem. Congrats for missing the point completely Capcom.

Yay for Capcom actually doing a fair bit in a patch and still people giving terrible feedback!

Thanks Capcom, I'm hella glad. For once.

I hope they fixed the issue where the background music stops playing mid round (PS3). I swear I get this bug at least once every time I play ranked games online.

But kudos for continuing to support 3rd Strike

Yes yes yes YESSSS! THANK YOU IRON GALAXY. This was mostly Iron Galaxy people, not Capcom, from what I understand. The fact that Iron Galaxy actually cared enough to literally meet with people from the pretty small active American 3S community to make this right fills me with joy and hope for humanity. Thank you. This sounds awesome.

Can we get a rebalance now? Few of the hardcore 3s fans like or play 3SO and some of us would like an unbroken 3S game. Win, win all around.

But hey if this was Harada, people will be ready to get on their knees and kiss toes. People are still gonna complain to Capcom.

@foolly - Marvel vs. Capcom Origins.

Also, patch looks to be damn good. I may play around a bit with SF3OE now that I have a bigger HDD so I can actually re-download it (finally! that 20gb filled quick lol). I am complete and utter garbage at this game though, lol.

Aywy, good stuff.

If it was Harada, the patch would've released a month later not a year.

@22 Leave it out. As much as i respect harada for his attitude and work ethic towards the fans of his games, it wouldnt be any difference for a small company like iron galaxy for a 10+ year old game. Iron galaxy has persisted on their own will and efforts to please their fans. Plus the fact it is a port makes it much harder than a new game

anyways good news, may actually go back to 3sOE instead of playing GGPO and supercade for my 3s fix as its netcode wasn't even comparable to them.

thanks roknin

ill be giving 3s another go. Thats the beauty about re-releases you can play it when ever you want, even a year later, and find players to play against!

does anyone find that the sound effects and character voices drown out the stage music?? i can barely hear the music and turning up the volume just makes the effects too loud.

Does anyone else get a lot of opponents in ranked matches that have their rank jump up 10-20 points when you accept the match? For example, I just started playing on ps about a month ago and my rank just got to 8 I think. I go into a ranked match and my opponent will pop up ranked 7, then when we accept the match and the check marks come up, my opponent's rank will suddenly jump to 23. Is this common?

GreedyB said on October 9, 2012 at 12:31 a.m.

@39 I played this game right after the release and stopped playing online a month later. Your problem was common back then and it is sad to hear that it is still there. I am not very good in SFIII, so I was glad to find players with similar or lower ranks. Many of them were rank 1, but after accepting the match their ranks were quite high. I have the Xbox version.

Can they add a win counter for Lobbies? So the person who's been winning has their score count displayed for everyone to see?

Also can you guys add a proper sound test? The music is in the game, why cant we listen to it?
