PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale roster finalized, will launch with 20 characters

I wonder if Crash and Spyro will be on-disc DLC.

Weak roster, and bland gameplay. Honestly they have really missed a great opportunity here. With all the greats of PS past and present they really blew it.

Hopefully there is no DLC. I don't feel the SSB series will ever have DLC characters and it's the most successful fighting game of all time.

Wait, depends on how you read into it. Sure, the game may ship with 20 available fighters from the start but there may be unlockable characters as well.

Who cares... the game looks like ass. If I want a party game, I'll play some smash bros.

This is a terrible roster. Very disappointed. Two females out of the entire cast. U/MVC3 is no longer the king of sausage fest for a fighting game.

I know it's crazy to say, but if this is really the roster, then I honestly think this game should be ignored until Crash is added in free of charge. Sony should get a bite in the ass for letting their mascot get thrown to the curb all those years ago.

Some of y'all just don't know. For a few years Crash was on more commercials than Sonic and Mario combined. He was pushing PS1's like a mofo, and originally Naughty Dog was working their asses off to get those games out on Sony's production deadlines. I don't care if he's third party now, and I don't care if Sony HQ refused him as a mascot. Crash deserves to be the face of this game.

Wow... I'm usually not one to say this, but... that roster isn't really appealing to me at all. The only character I'd probably play would be Nariko. Maybe.

Hopefully this is just wasn't "known" and there's more hidden in the game, Smash style. I wouldn't even mind if they used Smash's "Challenger Approaching" idea to reveal more characters after doing certain things in-game.

EDIT: Also agree that they needed to find whatever way they could to get Crash into the game. He was literally synonymous with the Playstation back in the PS1 days - their direct competitor to Mario and Sonic.

EDIT 2: And I agree Cinder, I'm surprised they don't have Laura as well. Until recent years she too was synonymous with Playstation.

Of course we'll never know what kind of contract negotiations happened behind closed doors, and hey... maybe they are hidden away in-game. Guess we'll have to wait and see but it's not looking promising.

I thought Crash, Spryo, Lara, Snake and Lightning were gonna be in for sure.

I don't care for Spyro or Crash, but Lara, Snake and Lightning would have all been pretty neat. I only say Lightning because of how hard Square is backing the FF:XIII series... with multiple sequels and spin-offs.

Rayne from BloodRayne and Kain from Legacy of Kain would have been cool too...

Also... Bayonetta for more cooch.

Another case of rushing development just to make a quick dollar imo. Of all the characters they could've used how the hell does the roster of this type of game turn out to be this weak, The majority of the PS characters that really stood out during that era aren't in, this will certainly end well. lol

I remember David hayter saying he was gonna voice someone in this game, I guess he withdrew from that, obviously because Snake is gonna be in the new smash bros.

i'll care when they announce Spyro/Crash. Those 2 series DEFINED my Playstation childhood.

This "ALL STARS" is weak in the roster

I mean I understand some of these characters are owned by other people now, but they should have done the extra mile to include them in if they were doing "ALL STARS" for playstation

The roster is weak for a party game, if I were to buy this game I'll only use Fat Princess, Nathan, Sackboy and Dante, probably Heihachi (cuz I love tekken). I do like a lot of characters from that roster, I just miss Lara. I don't care much for Spyro nor Crash but ignoring was not a smart thing to do.

13/50 characters in UMVC3 are female...theres no denying its an ultimate sausage fest.

MvC3 WAS a major sausage fest, 13 females out of 48 I believe? And Ultimate did nothing but throw more fuel on the fire by adding 12 more. -_-" I do love me some Mahvel though.

But back to this, this really is a weak cast when the majority aren't even "All-Stars" as the name implies. I wasn't expecting much from this game anyway, but I was hoping to be proved wrong...oh well.

Not a great competitive experience. Just cause it has combos doesn't make it a great fighter. The hypers killed it. Big time.

I'm not so sure. There been many conflicting reports and I'm inclined to think that Sony doesn't only have 20 worthy characters (4 of which aren't even theirs).

Also does anyone find it odd that all characters would be revealed with two months left to go? They'd wanna ride the hype train until the very end I'd expect.

I agree with people on Crash ans Spyro,but as hella cool as Lara Croft is, she was always a multi platform characters even during the PS1 Saturn era,she was on Saturn as well.(Also she was on Dreamcast)

When you consider 3 of those characters haven't been playstation exclusives in forever(Rayman's next big game is the WiiU verison of his game), Lara is not nor has ever been a playstation exclusive and Solid Snake is "retired" (Kojima's words on snake, and he's stuck to it that Solid Snake is NOT playable a single game after MGS4's release).

This is actually more all stars than you think
With Radec representing Killzone you have one of the most successful shooters on playstation represented.
With big Daddy you have one of the biggest Exclusive turn over from 360 to PS3.
The two Coles are from the highly successful infamous franchise.
Heihachi Mishima represents the "best selling 3D fighting game franchise"(Tekken has claimed this a few times) that started on playstation.
(That's 1/4th already)

Jak, Daxter, Ratchet, Clank and Sly If you grew up on PS2 platformers you know these guys very well and most likely love them.
Sweet Tooth is the face that changed car combat for years and has over 10 different games under his belt
PaRappa the Rapper very much an all star in his own right, as he's the underground guy who if you never heard of you'd be curious to find out about.

-Sir Dan while he hasn't been around since the PS1 is in the PaRapper the Rapper boat of being basically being a huge spot in their fans childhood(one of which is me)
-Spike is the representative of The long running Ape Escape franchise, which is a pretty big franchise with games on every playstation platform beside vita as of today.hell it's so big within Konami that people mention it frequently in other franchises. (Hell Naked Snake/Big Boss mentions spike in MGS3's Snake vs Monkey mode)
-Nathan Drake, Sackboy and Kratos of course speak for themselves.

While you may not be familiar or like the remaining 5
-Toro is popular in Japan(hell he was popular enough to get in SFXTK).
-Nariko while she has only one game she did fill in that action Adventure spot while
-Dante, while he's the redesign he is representing the whole franchise and his new game(which is coming from the creators of Nariko) coming up so he's got alot of potential as the 'future' of PlayStation
-Raiden, though he was poorly received in MGS2 and came back way more badass in MGS4 people are kinda meh on MGR. The thing is Snake is retired Kojima has retired him and beside big boss there's no playable protagonist in the franchise.
-Fat Princess while she only has a few games to her name, she's represented the first true success on a full PSN mp title.

It's a truly diverse cast of people you may not think of as the all stars of PlayStation. But you have to remember that these characters are beloved but a lot of other people and not all in the Americas/Europe.

Maybe I'll wait next year for the complete version with all the DLC characters included. Sony does that all the time with its exclusive titles, so yeah.

Jesse not really, the closest thing I can think of to do that is Killzone 3 which Killzone 3 is nearly 2 years old by the time the collection comes out.
