(Of course not! Look at the initial design... Er uh, I mean... Q's jacket' is buttoned up and the boat guy's is open. Also boat guy doesn't have a tie on. I dunno.)

Interesting article? That was one of the most legitimately embarrassing excuses for "games journalism" I've seen in a good while.

The first thing they mentioned(the change in the intro for the Genesis port) was probably because the Genesis had a limited number of colors it could handle onscreen.

Most of the article on venturebeat didn't load for me. There was a preamble, and no main body.

"We’ve gathered 15 of the most perplexing mysteries from Capcom’s masterpiece. Maybe you can help us solve them."

Their webpage must be shoddily designed, or something.

I also wondered who Bison meant when he referred to "the ancient one."

Did you actually try reading this before you posted it? Because if you had, I'm pretty sure you never would've posted it.

Here's the deepest mystery in the Street Fighter universe in my opinion:

What's up with the teenage girls in Street Fighter never aging?

Street Fighter Alpha takes place years BEFORE Street Fighter II. In Alpha, we're introduced to Sakura, a teenage fighter who idolizes a young Ryu. Street Fighter IV takes places long after Street Fighter Alpha, and Ryu is more of an adult now. Sakura on the other hand, hasn't aged one bit!! Did she drink from some kind of fountain of youth to keep her as a teenage girl throughout the gap from Street Fighter Alpha to the events in Street Fighter IV?

Chronologically speaking, Street Fighter III takes place years AFTER Street Fighter II and Street Fighter IV. This can be evidenced by the fact that at the end of SFIV, Ken and Eliza have a baby boy they name Mel. Ryu and Ken look a bit older in SFIII, and Mel is now old enough to deliver a painful blow to his father's crotch. I'd say he's at least 7 years old, maybe 8. That's a 7 year gap between the events of SFIV and SFIII.....and yet neither Makoto or Ibuki have aged a day!! They're still teenagers yet both are in SFIV and SFIII!!!

CAPCOM PLEASE EXPLAIN THE MYSTERY OF THE TEENAGE GIRLS IN STREET FIGHTER!! WHY DON'T THEY AGE WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE APPEARS TO GET OLDER?? ARE THEY VAMPIRES OR IMMORTALLY YOUNG?

@battlesong: "CAPCOM PLEASE EXPLAIN THE MYSTERY OF THE TEENAGE GIRLS IN STREET FIGHTER!! WHY DON'T THEY AGE WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE APPEARS TO GET OLDER?? ARE THEY VAMPIRES OR IMMORTALLY YOUNG?"

The real answer is that SFIII is going to be ignored in the already-loose continuity going forward. This is not only due to its lack of success, but because events in it were tied to the year 2000.

As for the teen girls, there's not *that* much time between Alpha and IV; it's pushing it, but Sakura could be in early high school in Alpha and late high school in IV. I agree that they have pushed that as far as they can, though. Expect SFV to not be set after III or to take the continuity of III into any significant account.
