Famitsu is pretty much garbage when it comes to reviews but they aren't wrong here.
After all that is in this game I'll be surprised if it gets anything under a 8 when the US reviews start rolling out.

Well deserved. Harada worked "his ass off" to make this the best Tekken game ever.

I'm not surprised this game looks really, really good. I look forward to playing this. I'm more into 2D games than 3D. This definitely won me over.......

@3 Most people who review fighters dont know how to play it they look over the whole package and sfxt has a decent amount of stuff and umvc3/mvc3 doesnt have much so I agree with the score anyways ttt2 getting a 39/40 is good very good

massi4h said on September 4, 2012 at 4:56 p.m.

I'm going to honestly say this now. I've had decent experience with both T6 and TTT2U.
If you don't like Tekken 6, you won't like Tekken Tag 2. The systems are obviously the same, just a couple things added and it's 2v2. Everything I didn't like about Tekken 6 is still in Tekken Tag 2 obviously.

*claps hand*

they truly deserve it. although i question the score due to sf x tk getting a higher score than marvel.

@10

I'll be surprised if you play it for more than a month.

Not hating, but everyone I knew that were into 2d fighters, tried Tekken 6 and dropped it really fast.

I personally don't like Tekken's sluggish movement over Doa / VF smooth gameplay. But I'll admit it's way more complex than Doa.

Why is Eventscrubs the only site that posts Famitsu scores? Why do they take the time to post this fraudulent $h!t? And to show you how weak Famitsu is, why does no fighter ever get a 40/40?

#17
Cloukyo said on September 4, 2012 at 5:08 p.m.

Tekken Tag is nothing like Tekken 6. The tag mechanic alone adds a completely new layer to the gameplay. It also makes it more fun to watch and unstandardises the combo system meaning every player will play differently.

Anyone who thinks the two games are the same just don't play Tekken and are spewing garbage.

Mojo said on September 4, 2012 at 5:12 p.m.

@16 BruningVigor How is Tekken's movement sluggish? Once you get good at the movement in tekken the game moves just as smooth as doa or vf.

*Famitsu does a review on TTT2 with a high score

People party New Orleans style

Basically same system.

Lmfao at DOA and VF being more fluid than Tekken.

There's a reason SF and Tekken are considered the best of there genres (2d, 3D)

@28 Before anyone blows you up, edit that VF. I think it's all but a fact that VF is king of the fighting games in terms of respect. And if you don't know what i'm trying to say, then just shhhusshh.

#33
Tankverso said on September 4, 2012 at 10:42 p.m.

everyone here complaining about the SFxT scoring higher than Vanilla SF and Marvel, These people makes these reviews based on quick impressions that incorporate presentation, content, design, gameplay, and just the game as an overall package. This is NOT a raw score for the gameplay of each game. It takes time to see if games are going to competitively successful. SFxT seemed like a more complete game at the time, whilst marvel lacked modes and seemed bare (because it was all about gameplay). Don't mistake game reviews as standing of how balanced a game is.

I think they dropped the ball with Tekken 6 and come back stronger for it!!

Well done Harada san

This review does nothing for me (though it's good to see)...They could have given this game a 7/40 and I would still be picking it up ASAP.

Also, I don't know why people are still complaining about SFxT. It's nowhere near as bad as the FGC like to exaggerate. Maybe it didn't live up to folks' expectations, but it's not horrible.

My head is also full of fvck at that UMvC3 score. None of these are horrible scores, though. Most Capcom fighters lack in the single player department, though, so it does make sense I suppose.

It's good to see TTT2 with a high score.

@HooliganComboFTW

After reading through those comments on this page, I find it pretty hilarious that many people are actually praising the score of TTT2 in Famitsu. Many people on EventHubs bash Famitsu for everytime a fighting game gets a high score and they say Famitsu is garbage but all of the sudden, Famitsu is good because they gave TTT2 a high score? Wow, such hypocrisy.

@gammabolt17

Yeah, it's so hilarious to see so many people hating on SFxT and 1 of the most common things that they normally say: 'This game is dead'. In fact, many times before you see so many haters commenting on a SFxT speaks for itself. If the game was dead, then we wouldn't be arguing about it anymore. Even though it's not my most played fighting game, I like SFxT and it's features. It's a good game in its own right.

handsofgod said on September 5, 2012 at 8:38 a.m.

wow thats a strong score, from what i've seen so far i can understand why it got scored so high, game has a lot of content and is capable of high level play with a very east newbie button bash element, i have never been a tekken fan and generally dislike 3D games, i doubt i'll even get this, but i wish this game well it looks like a lot of hard work went into this title, would be nice to see capcom give out the same sort content but it seems all they work on is the versus's side of things lol but that alone is what makes me a sf fan.

what i have noticed though is generally the tekken posts dont get much comments, why is this or have i got my wires crossed somehow?

my guess is that tekken doesn't have much of a competitive scene and majority of people that buy and play are probably noobs, and if this is the case then im guessing noobs dont even bother coming on forums or gaming websites, they just play the damn game like normal people lol

trainingdummy said on September 5, 2012 at 8:50 a.m.

considering the nature of famitsu and it's liberal use of high scores for video games, and the fact that they get paid by video game companies to give out high scores for their games, i'd take this with a grain of salt.

not saying that TTT2 is a bad game though.

Neoxon said on September 5, 2012 at 4:05 p.m.

In terms of SFxT out-scoring UMvC3, I guess they were looking at the package as a whole. DLC characters & gems aside, it had a ton of content. Color edit (with free colors), replay mode (something only UMvC3 on the Vita has), online training mode, Scramble Mode, etc. Granted, UMvC3 definately out-classes SFxT in the gameplay department, but I'll openly admit that SFxT beats UMvC3 in the content department, even with all the disc-locked content.

As for TTT2, I'm glad it got such a high score, & I look forward to playing the game myself. And with me being a sucker for customization, I'll eventually get around making a Phoenix Wright costume for Jin (probably his new Ace Attorney 5 look, since I can probably keep Jin's pre-existing hair for that).
