1992 - 2011 Mortal Kombat character select screens illustrated by Xamoel

Xamoel created multiple pieces of well done Mortal Kombat artwork that features excellent renditions of the game's character select screens from the very first game that was released in 1992 all the way through 2011's release of Mortal Kombat 9. Additionally he created a select screen for what he hopes to see in Mortal Kombat 10.

Xamoel was also the one who did the Smash Bros. artwork if it had been created by Sega.

NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon stated on Twitter that he wishes he could draw the Mortal Kombat characters like this.

MAN o MAN this artist is good !! Wish I could draw MK characters like this.

mk was so much better when they didnt put too much detail in the player outfits.. ie scorpion with a ridiculous costume and sword, and reptile actually being a reptile.. *sigh* LESS IS MORE!!

The designs from 4 are terrible. The fan designs in the last one are much better.

I love my Niitsuma, Akiman, Chamba, and more, but I love this style a lot. I love the energy and the humor in all of them. Kung Lao's caricature in MK2= BEAAAAST!

...Are you serious? Because if you are, you're right. Deadly Alliance had to bring a different atmosphere to the game since they killed off the most important character, so why not rejuvenate the spirit of the game entirely?

MK designs just got dumber and dumber after MK2/3, and by Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon, it was just beyond saving.

Then MK9 appears and all is well. For the most part. I think Sonya should ditch the heels though.

Then there's those fanmade designs... Kano and Kung Lao are the worst, and for the most part they all have this samey aura about them.

People have no taste these days. The best designs were at the time of DA and up to Armageddon. MK9 has the worst MK re-designs, save for characters that remained almost the same as in 3D MKs like Quan Chi.
