Canada Cup 2012 weekend tournament preview Canada Cup 2012 is going to feature an amazing amount of talent this year. There are three separate streams being ran, and a ton of great competitions, most notably a 5v5 Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 tournament that should be insanely hype, with a $5,000 bonus pot on the line. All told, there's over $20,000 in prizes up for grabs.

Players from all over the globe will be flying into Canada to compete this weekend, including key competitors from Evil Geniuses, Mad Catz, Razer, Western Wolves and other competitive gaming groups.

For a breakdown of what to expect, hit the link below.

Canada Cup 2012

Canada Cup 2012

• The run down: Canada Cup 2012 will take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on October 26-28. There's a $5,000 pot bonus for the 5v5 SSF4 AE v2012 tournament, $2,000 bonus for singles SSF4 AE v2012 and another $2,000 bonus for the UMvC3 singles tournament.

Competitions for Street Fighter X Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters 13, Persona 4: Arena, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Dead or Alive 5 will also be ran.

• Who's expected to show: RZR|Fuudo, WW|Infiltration, MCZ|Tokido, EG|Justin Wong, coL|Filipino Champ, AVM|GamerBee, MCZ|Mago, AGE|NYChrisG, EG|Ricky Ortiz, Kazunoko, Bonchan, RZR|Latif, FNEX|K-Brad, DM|Xian, EG|PR Balrog, WW|Laugh, Mike Ross, MTLSF|Chi-Rithy, AGE|Vangief, LU|Alex Valle, Humanbomb, CCG|Air, AGE|Flash Metroid, UVG|Noel Brown and many more.

•Who to look out for: This tournament is loaded with exceptional players, but RZR|Fuudo has been beating just about everyone under the sun in SSF4 AE v2012 lately, taking top honors in the 2nd Topanga A League, and 2nd place (behind Daigo) at the Japanese SF 25th qualifier. He'll be facing very stiff competition here though, so it wouldn't be surprising to see another player take top honors.

On the UMvC3 side of things, newly signed to AGE, NYChrisG will be looking to make a big impact here. He took the top spot at Seasons Beatings: Ascension, but Justin Wong and Filipino Champ will end up being contenders here as well.

• Streaming duties and schedule: There will be three separate streams being ran. The primary feed is on Canada Cup's TwitchTV page, the 2nd stream is Offcast and the third stream will be ran by The 4th Dimension You can find a full stream schedule here.

#1: No he's not. This has become my favourite event of the year. I like it even more than EVO exactly because of the international 5v5. That's SO much hype. Rooting for Kazunoko to retain his title, though Fuudo and Infiltration have been on a tear lately. This is gonna be sick! #8.95

Like I said before, Justin being captain and Ricky being captain is FRAUD!!!!

I need to see TWO last minute changes! Consolidate teams USA so that Latif or Die can be captain of second USA. and ALLOW same characters! WhyTF not?

I said my peace. HYPE TIME!

@4: Allowing same characters or unlocked character pick would take away HUGE part of strategies in teams. If they took that away, there would be no reason to have captains and it would be filled with counter-picks. The team tournament's format is perfect as it is.

Poongko had a nightmare the last time he flew to Evo, missed his flight, having to find someone to adopt him etc and not being able to communicate. Not surprised if he's traumatized by the experience still.

Daigo did not go last year as well. Must be saving his energy for the beasting to be done at 25th Anniv tourney.

Good list of players. I wish Daigo did make it out though, I guess I'm still living in the past but being a marvel head now, having Daigo there woulda put a bit more interest in AE for me.

^^^Read poongko twitter. He's not attending Canada cup because, supposedly, him and infiltration had some type of argument about weather or not to bust out the gangnam style dance, if the Korean team won. True sheit

Poongko and Infiltration have had bad blood for a while now, recently Poongko just can't beat Infiltration. Would have been hell of team. I didn't know Poongko was going though, real shame.

Apart from Daigo & Poongko this really is a strong field - Should be some classic match ups.

Shame Breno Fighters Cammy isn't there also (man that guy is awesome).

Yzerman for us Detroiters. Maybe Mr.Hockey Gordie Howe.

But Gretzky's numbers cannot be denied. Nor will they EVER be matched or beaten. Hell, no one will probably ever even get close.

Maybe Super Mario could've done it.... Damn Cancer.
