Darkstalkers Resurrection may not be released in Japan, over seas players must be patient

Darkstalkers Resurrection may not be released in Japan, over seas players must be patient Beast Note posted an interesting bit of information concerning the release of the newly announced Darkstalkers Resurrection game in Japan. According to Ono's Twitter, the HD port of Darkstalkers 2 and 3 will not be hitting Japanese consoles.

A Japanese user commented on the Twitter post and Ono responded saying that Capcom Japan has yet to announce the release of the game and that it may or may not come out in Japan. He proceed to ask the user to be patient for news on that front.

This wouldn't be the first time an HD port of a classic Capcom fighter did not see an over seas release. Both Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins are not available to Japanese gamers.

Although game exclusivity may seem as though it benefits North America a bit more, not too long ago Capcom vs. SNK 2 was released on the Playstation Network solely in Japan.

Umm.. if they really want to bring DS back to life it would be a HUGE mistake not to release DS Resurrection over seas. I would LOVE a new Darkstalkers.

"Capcom Japan has yet to announce the release of the game and that it may or may not come out in Japan"

I hate that phrase with a passion. "May or may not"? Well, yeah. Those ARE the two options now aren't they?

So where is it where he said overseas players must be patient? I'm not seeing it, unless I misread the article. Regardless, I just want it to hit America so I can buy it.

Don't care. Is that stupid troll going to announce DS4 or was his great announcement the "yet another HD port of a game I already have on my computer"? i.e I don't need this on PS3 I could play this all day on GGPO.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the DS4 announcement with that logic. Have fun downloading games illegally still wondering why they aren't releasing a sequel when people like you won't support the tittle.

That's kinda surprising that they might not release it in Japan considering that Darkstalkers actually had a decent scene in Japan during the 90's. Daigo was a big DS player during those days.

Thank god we can get so much Darkstalkers info during the STREET FIGHTER 25th anniversary!!!

Some AE stuff would have been GDLK. Another Capcom misfire.

@12 CvS2 HD online, yes please, overseas, no way. Internet infrastructures can barely handle region to region, last thing i want is laggy intercontinental play where its travelling half way across the world. They could put an option but there would be no point as many don't even like east coast vs west coast connections

Next time Darkstalkers has an anniversary maybe we'll get some new stuff for the SF series?

Costumes, modes, music or stages.

Yeah that's real smart, just like not releasing Super Turbo HDR in Japan.

Capcom of Japan just hasn't announced anything yet. Company reps are obviously going to say "We cannot say anything at this time, it may or may not happen, we may not give any indication of anything without the approval of public relations."

As for HDR, the word was always that its Japanese release was canceled because early feedback suggested that Japanese players would revile the game due to its janky appearance and rebalancing - essentially Capcom thought it would be considered an offense to the Japanese player base.

And to be honest, they probably were not wrong. People direct mindless, unjustified hate at Capcom for a lot of things. But HD Remix is one case where a ton of the criticism was well founded.

I recall hearing some Japanese players saying if HDR got a proper release in Japan, it would of seen alot more play.

I liked HDR, felt much more solid to me than regular ol' ST, which I think people dickride too much.

Lol, dumbass. Nj white knighting.

"Illegal" downloads or not, they're still going to release this game [new DS], hence the whole "DSers ARE NOT DEAD". They already got that promo with SFxT graphics.

Not only DS already is a staple franchise of Capcom with a huge fanbase, they just want you to jump on the SUPPORT bandwagon to reach a bigger, wider audience and get more sales.

Plus bitches love DS. Ever been to a con? Seen the amount of Felicias and Morrigans walking around? Thats a potential buyer right there.

Also, stfu please. Ive bought plenty capcom titles in the past and present, and had all the MFing fighting games on Dreamcast (from MVC1 to 3rd Strike to P. Justice and Tech Romancer). I even wanted JoJo, but never found it in stores.

Even went on to get SF4, which I hate/got bored of by now. So ive done my share of supporting Capcom.

If dark stalkers had a HUGE STABLE franchise then they wouldn't be testing the waters with this HD release. They aren't stupid. DS isn't really popular in america and they know that. people begging and pleading for them to release a sequel and they are more then likely aren't even going to like it.

Also I bet half the people who cosplayed as them never even touched a DS game. Most cosplayers don't even play the game they cosplay as. Not even mentioning good portion of people only know of DS through cross-over games. They'll pick up the game and probably never touch it again, sell it, or complain about it being different from most fighters. DS is NOT Street fighter or Marvel. And another thing,Wtf is a Nj White Knighting???
