King of Fighters 13 will be available for free to PlayStation Plus members starting tomorrow October 9th. This is a 2.2 GB download game and if you don't have PSN+ you can still pick up the game digitally for $29.99. PSN+ members will additionally receive 30% off some of the game's downloadable content.

King of Fighters XIII captured the attention of the fighting game community at this year’s amazingly salty EVO 2012 fighting game tournament. That said, we’re happy to get this deep fighter in to the hands of Plus members everywhere! With tons of play modes, a refined, faster paced engine, over 30 beautifully rendered and animated characters, all with great online play; this is one fighter you won’t want to miss. You’ll also find select Add-ons, including extra characters Mr. Karate, on sale for 30% off the PSN sale price, which is 50% off the regular store price. I already own the game on Xbox, but since I have PSN+ I'll download it there too. PSN+ is great if you're a general gamer and play stuff outside of just fighting games. Little Big Plant 2, InFamous 2, Virtua Fighter 5 and more are all free on it. It's rather awesome.

I got ps plus just last month, gotta say, having lbp2, infamous 2, borderlands, ratchet & clank all 4 one, starhawk, and all the other stuff i dont have hard drive space for is totally worth the price. I havent paid for xbl since last year, but i might have to for halo 4 *sigh*

Quoted for truth, the online is fine if you play on 3 4 bars. And if you dont play KOF, you arent a real fighter. Stick to baby fighters like Slow Fighter 4 and stay Capcom buttriders.

The online is pretty terrible for this game. I get terrible lag from Nor cal to so cal. But the inputs in this game are very generous(think mvc3), so even in the lag you can pull off most combos when you get used to it.

Also when it lags bad, the game desyncs. So you and the other player will be different on the screen. This is the only fighter I can think of that has this problem. If the connection does a big hiccup, the whole match is ruined.

That said... nobody plays this anymore. Even when it first came out, it wasn't easy to find matches. Played about 1400 matches before calling it in and selling the game.

Dead game is dead.

@12, 17 This may come as a shock, but you're not doing the reputation of your game any favors by taking the role of the elitist who's too good to play games with a lower execution and mechanics barrier. Check that EH discussion on how to grow the FGC and not kill it from a few weeks back.

I wish I had PSN+, much less a PS3. I'm considering getting both after hearing about all these great deals.

I support SNK in all their endeavors and got KOF XIII,1st day.But,aside from some players,no one plays this game on my country.
Plus,the netcode even with the update was not that great.Dead man walking.Capcom games may be "scrubby" by your standards,but they are fun and have depth.

TL;DR-You're no better than the "scrubs" you're trying to insult.

You think fgc scene is poor, KOF is even worse. First death nail to KOF scene was when mlg dropped KOF. Anyways good game, not enough tournaments for it with no support from it's developer.

The emotions are high in this one. Catch your breath or your gonna get health issues if not already bud. Not everyone wants to go to Mexico or the seedier parts of Socal to play competitive some Kof.

Online= easy for the most part to play people quickly anytime as long as netcode is stable. Online being full of "free scrubs" or "Hardcore OGs" (lol) is not the purpose of playing online in first place.

Not everyone lives near a scene for the fighter game they like so online is their solution. Seems you forgot about that

Too bad Playmore cannot figure out that if they want to do well in todays market they need to fix their online.

I played an online match today and it seemed a lot better than a few months ago. I was in between classes and was on controller so I can't say fully for sure. Ill try tonight and see. How ever they could have been "next door" as far as I know. Ill let you guys know later tonight!

Played the demo and figured I'd give it a shot eventually. Can't get a better deal than a free one! PS+ has really been at it with all these free great games these past few months. Best $49/year spent so far!
