VG247 put together an amazing interview with Harada where they cover Tekken's long history with Sony, Playstation and its fans. Harada covers the technical difficulty of porting Tekken to consoles, his views on character popularity and more.Part of Harada’s fan-facing popularity comes with his collaboration with Street Fighter director Yoshinori Ono, another prominent character on the fighting game circuit. At events the two appear to be the best of friends, so we asked Harada if this image accurately represents reality.
“We have known each other from more than ten years ago. We had a near miss at game shows and there were many opportunities to see each other for Japanese game magazines. However, it was only four or five years ago that we became friendly and started talking. Until then, we had never exchanged words.
“As Ono viewed it, he said I looked like a ‘Very grumpy and abrupt person indeed’. The first time we spoke to each other was at a stage event within a game show somewhere. Publicly, we are said to be similar types, but Ono and I are actually completely opposite of each other.

Harada is the true Maximum form of Ono. That is all.
I just got into Tekken with TTT2. So many wasted years :(
@2 I've fallen in love with the Tekken series at Tekken 3, I played since T1 but T3 stole my heart. Then I just made sweet sweet combo love to T5 and never looked back since. TTT2 is a masterpiece and I love that it's getting such a good welcome from ALL parts of the FGC! XD
"The original Tekken is the reason many gamers bought their first PlayStation."
No, that was Battle Arena Toshinden.
Game Players magazine even called it a "Virtua Fighter Killer", which is a laugh riot.
I dunno about you guys, but I got the PS for the RPGs.
Xenogears, Chrono Cross, FFVII, Breath of Fire and all that.
Castlevania SoTN was boss too. Part RPG, part platformer.
I was maining VF2 in those days, and no home console even came close to the Model2 arcade. Closest thing was the PC port.
I have already got myself mentally ready to accept that TxSF will probably come in early 2014 and be on the next generation console. Namco trends to release their Tekken games in arcade and on console a year later. Also, if the game was coming to 2013, they would have already had a trailer or something. They are still marketing and patching TTT2. I do not expect to hear anything about TxSF until after the Wii U version in Japan launch.
tekken x street fighter will seal the deal between the two no other fighting game will be able to compete im looking foward to that plus tekken 7 angel, devil jin and kazuya will have a main part to play after what ive seen in tekken tag 2
At first I wasn't very hyped about the idea of TxSF, but after seeing the great job done with TT2 I'm now quite interested to see how it will turn out. I bet the 3D models will be awesome & knowing Harada the game willl likely have a robust, diverse rouster with a lot of bonus content.
@#9 Ok I have never even heard of that so ide...
But the best Tekken's were 3 and 5(DR), my only hope for Tekken, and I'm probably worrying too much, but I don't want Harada to be influenced by other fighting franchises so much that he tries to "turn Tekken into them." Tekken has it's own rules for creation that it should stick to.
