Mike Z recently put a poll up on the SRK forums asking for input from the FGC to decide if he should increase the game speed of Skullgirls by 3%. he will also be bringing a sped-up version to this weeks Wednesday Night Fights to get some hands on.Changing the frameskip number in SG doesn't change the actual gameplay at all. Frame data remains the same. This is purely an aesthetic question.
All the gameplay still happens the same way it does now - assists are still vulnerable for two frames of game time, moves are still active for the same amount of time, just that some of the frames happen without being shown to the player...but SG already does that even now. (^.^) The reason I'm even CONSIDERING this is because it ISN'T a change to gameplay except for the feel. Even increasing the game speed to 150% wouldn't change how anything works, it would just mean you have to do your inputs a whole lot faster.
For those curious, a 3% speed increase is enough so you can feel it when moving around, but it doesn't affect the timing of combos a whole lot. It's equivalent to dropping about 2 frames out of 60 (2 / sec).
I'll be bringing a sped-up build to WNF this week, so anyone who can make it to Super Arcade should go. In the meantime, vote! You have something like 3 days. :^P
Let us know your thoughts on a sped-up version of Skullgirls in the comment section.

What an interesting prospect to increase the speed of the aesthetics, but the technical stuff like frame-data be intact. It would be something to observe this change.
Been sayin for a while now bout how this game NEEDS a 3% speed increase, at last someone finally listened.
Add 1 second to the timer, reduce each hitbox by a single pixel and boost damage by 1.4328766% acros the board (except for painwheel for obvious reasons) and the game will be pretty much perfect.
Really wanted to support this game but I couldn't get into this game because everything felt so sluggish for me. I also hoped for some sort of Turbo mode to speed up the game.
But if it's only 3% what's the point, you'll piss off some people that liked the way it is, and if 3% doesn't really change anything, it's not gonna bring the new players that wants a faster game.
I really hope if Mike Z is gonna offer a Turbo mode just make it 150% or 200% faster...
I definitely want the game to be faster. I hope Mike Z follows through with this.
any word on when the patch with 3% speed and other adjustments is coming?
Filia will be all over the screen, but as a vampire savior player I can appreciate skullgirls being faster.
So if it doesn't affect game-play then that means the timer will not be sped up correct? I approve of this idea. It'll kinda make long combos a bit more bearable not that I have a problem with them. Teching throws will be even more of a beeyotch though.
@#15 HASJ:
Buy the game now, so that Reverge Labs can have even more funding to add stuff like that for free.
In comparison, how fast were the turbo settings in SF2 compared to vanilla?
I dunno it seems to have a pretty good speed right now, but I suppose Mike is a GG fan.
I approve of this. I'm glad Mike Z considered community input over something thats aesthetic. This will only just make the game even more healthy in the tourney scene as it grows.

Umbrella, and Squigly are already confirmed while a playable Marie is all but officially confirmed. They will have more time creating more characters and other content to improve the game the moment the patch gets shipped according to reverge
wish we could let a version of any modern fighter marinate for awhile. always with the patches.

That idea got shot down today. Adding speed options would most likely split the community over stuff such as X speed is the "true" SG format. Also a hassle for tourneys like how Gems were. They just created a tourney mode to make the process easier. The speed options would be counter-productive.
It is AWESOME that Mike takes what we say under consideration. I voted to keep the speed just the way it is. I really really like the animation and the current build very much shows it off. Either way I absolutely trust Mike and the SkullGirls team so I'm certain whatever changes are made they will be good ones overall. Go to SRK and vote!
I'm intrigued. Maybe we should wait for tonight to see it.
You know I've always wondered if the game should be sped up because when I switch from 3S or UMvC3 or even SFAE I feel like I really have to slow down so I don't move to fast for the game. I think this is a good idea.
