SBO 2012 (Tougeki) held on August 4-5, game schedule and formats released

This year's Super Battle Opera (Tougeki) will be held on August 4-5, 2012. Previously an arcade only tournament, SBO is now going to have a few console exclusive titles like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Soul Calibur 5.

One of the biggest fighting game tournaments around, it typically attracts many of the best players from Japan and competing teams from other countries. Here's a rundown of their schedule and the formats for their lineup this year.

August 4th (Saturday)
・Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 (3v3)
・Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (3v3)
・Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited (2v2)
・Soul Calibur 5 (1v1)

August 5th (Sunday)
・Aquapazza (2v2)
・Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (1v1)
・Street Fighter III 3rd Strike (3v3)
・Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (1v1)

The Saturday one seems to be the one to watch. Just look at the first 3 games, those are gonna be awesome. I guess Japan doesn't follow saying "save the best for last" like every other tournament in the world does.
Just look at Sunday.
Aquapazza? LOL!
Persona 4? Lame Blazblue replacement.
UMvC3? As if Japan actually even cares about this game.

2D fighters are more hype in Japan. I think most people here will only care about day 2. Especially Japanese 3rd Strike and P4U are never enough to watch :) , these two games will be extremely hype as always. UMvC3 will be a dream show: USA vs Japan! What do you expect?

Remember last 3 years of SFIV at SBO? All of them are strong sleeping materials so never expect much at that game in SBO.

All SBO events are one-round elimination, but UMVC3 is rumored to be two out of three per round.

We have seen SF4 matches for 4 years, kinda lost hype.

Seriously, no KOF 13? Why is that game being so slept on by the Japanese of all people? I can't claim how good or bad Aquapazza is but to have that game over KOF? I hope they have a damn good reason...

I hope the stream will be free, I'am not gonna pay for this bad show anymore.Last time we didnt see a lot of foreign team .And tey didnt stream all the top 8 for major game like Strete fighter.
Godsgarden are hella better.
