Street Fighter Legends: Ryu - a real life look at Ryu's lifestyle and training

Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • May 5, 2012 at 3:10 p.m. PDT
PaulGale has uploaded a video that gives a real life look at the lifestyle and training regimen of Ryu. Paul takes on the part of Ryu and shows various Shotokan training exercises in different weather conditions and extremes.

Paul has shown incredible devotion to this project and Capcom. He has earned his 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, created his own Street Fighter shoes and even changed his license plate to "HADOKN". You can find out more about Paul on his website.

Damn, mad props to this guy. He is the real deal and the closest thing the world will ever have to a real-life Ryu.

2nd Dan? Neat. But that must mean he found out Ryu's fighting style has as much to do with Shotokan as Blanka's does Capoeira about....7 ranks ago?

@2 muscle size has nothing to do with strength as one man has taught the world:

@1 Hey he's at least out there doing something physical.

....So uh, who's going to be the one to tell this guy that the "Shoto's" in Street Fighter don't actually practice Shotokan Karate...

I know lots of martial artists influenced by Ryu, a simple fictional character. However, I feel like he couldn't have done something more in the quality of making this to show the tenacious spirit of Ryu.

That being said this is a REPOST.

hmm nice idea but several things were not quite so cool. first, american ryu is american.. (of cause that's not that paulguy's fault) second, his punches are sooo weak! man as a 2nd degree blackbelt you should put more heart and meaning into a punch! third, it would be way easier to portrait makoto's karate style, since it's more "traditional" than ryu's. but of course ryu is the SF posterboy so it has to be him
