PC version of Skullgirls will not use Games For Windows Live, hoping to have cross platform between PC and PS3 The Skullgirls official Twitter has been answering some of the fans questions. Today they answered the question about the PC version using Games For Windows Live.

Will the PC version use GFWL? - Joel Moffatt ‏

We hope to have PS3/PC cross-platform play implemented a few months after the PC version is released... so definitely not GFWL.

It's a shame it can't be cross platform for 360 too, to unify the online community. I suppose that's the price you pay for a closed, secure network like XBL :/

This is great news though.

The only thing I know that supports cross platform with PC and PS3 is Steam, which is a great thing.

So they've indirectly stated that they're going for Steamworks? Hope it all works out, because that is great news. Either way, it doesn't use GFWL. LEARN SOMETHING, CAPCOM.

I hope they put an indicator next to console users in case I want to avoid them--my load times will be tied to theirs and probably won't be as quick.

Cross platform play would pretty much FORCE me to buy it just because it would last that much longer.

Yeah, that's important to keep in mind before people jump the gun here. It'd be cool to have but it's not set in stone YET.

It's not set in stone, but it's great they will try to have it done.

No invasive DRM + cross platform is definitely the right direction for fighting games on PC, as it will make the community even bigger. Since Steam already does cross platform with PS3, they might end up with that.

As things stand today, a GFWL release rules out PS3 cross platform (and vice versa), so we really cannot ask for 'universal' cross platform at this time.

Hope people will reward the devs for their efforts, they really deserve it and the game is hella cheap.

good thing: can play vs a friend who has the PS3 version
bad thing: he uses wireless PS3

anyway it will be good since is GGPO technology, altough I don;t like that much the idea of using steam, I hope I don't need that thing

GOOD GOD! Now... now I have to buy a second copy... I play with a pad, but can only use the 360 controller so unless I buy and learn to use a stick... I have choices to make... Do I buy all the DLC for both PS3/PC and 360? Hmm...

Even if its not currently "set and stone" the fact that they are trying to implement this shows that they want to go all out potential on their game which is always nice to see every now and then lol

#17 what are you talking about

steam is the least corrupt of all the gaming services and only blasts you with ads of games and doesn't steal your information without asking first

whereas try other services like Origin and Direct2drive, spammed to heck and back with bloat or invasive logging

blame the fact that GFWL is gutter trash and i play xbox so could care less since they completely shut down the possibility of GFWL. yeah 360 gets no love yet currently PSN online is pretty much region locked for the time being lol. Gonna get this in Steam too love a good fighter on pc

Uh, wouldn't GFWL not allow crossplat with ANYTHING?

What's the point on wanting GFWL for the PC version of Skullgirls?

Also, GFWL deletes saves randomly, and if you change your gamertag (not relevant in this case since you don't need to unlock characters, I guess).
