#1 yeah hope this doesn't turn out to be just something to distract fans until Tekken x SF.
Why does Jinpachi sound like that when he attacks? is he possessed?
@1 & 2
I'm with you guys. I definitely don't agree with the reason behind why this was implemented in the first place. Specifically, that it was because too many people complained about having to master 2 characters. TT is easily my favorite Tekken game, and I don't want this game turning into a game where 1v1 is the preferred playstyle. :/
Don't like 1v1, keep playing 2v2. Ultimate just provides more ways to play. I know fighting gamers have a hard time comprehending extra options and they've been weaned on Arcade-Versus-Options as the only three ways to engage a game, but some people like to jazz it up a bit. Call me crazy.
@7
The problem seems to be that a solo character is much stronger than a team of 2.
It's like the developers just scaled the solo character's life to 200% (judging by damage taken in vid 1) and called it a day. That's hardly balanced, considering you only need to knock out one person in a team of 2 in order to kill the team.
It's fine to have a solo mode in what is supposed to be a team game, but at best it should still be a slight handicap (I understand the developers are trying to mitigate that with these balance changes). It certainly shouldn't be an advantage.
@12 - I think you should have to kill both characters if you play solo, like the ratio system in CVS2 or Skullgirls. Especially with a damage buff that huge AND regenerating health.
I don't care for balance, because at the end of the day people will play how they want to play. If you're afraid of some guy using 1 character vs your team then how about playing with people who use 2 characters? If you absolutely positively need to play random people who may use 1 character than I suggest you tough it out and play the game.
Bear in mind you or I don't know if it's actually unbalanced or not. I frown upon calling that sort of thing on off-screen vids. You'd think people would learn to wait and see after MvC3 and SFxT embarrassed arm-chair developers who tried to review the game balance based on 10mins of pre-release video.
And on the subject of the health buff; the 2 character team still has to tag out to recover health and be mindful of it, so no matter what you had to watch for KOs whether you're fighting 1 character or 2. This is a case of judging by emotion because we do not know if this is unbalanced or not. If they made one character teams handicapped, that would nullify the option. Nobody wants to be handicapped on purpose. Namco took a decent route adding the option.
Competitively speaking, I suspect this game will be played primarily in tag battles, and mixed number teams won't be common. More a side-show, ego stroke than anything.
In short, calm down.
Tekken Tag Tournament 1 had 1 on 1 mode so why are people complaining about it now?
