For a moment, I thought the stream volume was really low, and I increased my sound system volume and then Sherry spoke and rattled my mug.
Holy jeebeus.
Entertain me CEOrlando.
For some reason I can't connect to Twitch. At all. The main page wont even load. WTF?
i saw daigo yawn... I SAW DAIGO YAWN!!! HE CHANGED HIS FACIAL EXPRESSION!!!
I EVEN HAVE PROOF!
Why the freak is Chi-Rithy in the North American team? He took a couple of US players by surprise in Toryuken and MAT, but otherwise has proven nothing and is playing a character that is freaking common and overplayed in Japan and the rest of Asia. Not having PR Rog over him is such a terrible decision.
Lol Canada is dead weight oh I forgot how lulz the chat can be. Oh yeah never put J Chen on commentary when a Cammy player is on ugh.
Filipino Champ is my new fave marvel player right now, too godlike. I think his non-Phoenix team is better than his Phoenix team.
Also shoutouts to James Chen & Arturo for getting top 3 in ST. LETS GO MIKE "MAXIMUM HUMAN" ROSS
This commentary is god awful right now. Battle of the random.
From the looks of it strongest players are Ricky, Daigo and Champ
@17 If you're talking about the strongest after today, then Gamerbee is definitely it.
this is the first time i ever watch a stream of a tournament, and goddammit IT WAS MAD HYPE. can't wait for tomorrow!!! (today, actually)
True Gamerbee has been in that hyperbolic time chamber he looked like he can crush the competition in his pool.
@ Canada/Chi-rithy hate, blah blah blah he did deserve to be on the team, he's been playing lights out and it was a lot of fun, for me at least, to see him up against those guys. It wasn't some huge international championship or something, just a fun exhibition. I highly doubt PR Rog or Justin or Wolfkrone are pouting about not being on the team.
@19 where you been man? ;) it's hella fun, as you found out! And this was just opening ceremonies type stuff. Wait until tomorrow and Sunday.
Ricky is looking great, so is Gamerbee, so is Daigo. I think Daigo was sandbagging against Ricky, especially since he specifically mentioned Ricky as someone he's looking out for at Evo in a recent interview. FChamp is also on fire. Sometimes crossing over games can actually help, rather than hurt, one's performance in each.
I am pretty sure James Chen got second in the ST tournament, not Arturo, but not positive on that.
Catalyst
If you see this, just to clarify...under team blondes, it's not Knuckle Doo. It's UYG|NuckleDu. People tend to get his name wrong apparently.
They didn't run ST on stream?
Anyway pretty pissed can't find it in the archives.
@8
Canada is in North America. Is there even any other Canadians there?
All these players are looking in top form, SSF4 has never been so good. This is going to be a great torunment. The skill level is so high now, I can see most of these matches going right to the wire.
We have money matches going on in UMVC3 now - http://www.twitch.tv/nycfurby - this is Arturo's room at CEO 2012.
AE team exhibition was sick.
http://ko.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky/b/3215...
If you missed it, starts just shy of the 40min. mark.
@29 You should be able to find the rest of the archive for day 1 there, or at least the Spooky side of things.
Does anyone know when the actual tourney is gonna start ? the team vs team exhibition was great,, so cant wait for the real deal !
They start today some of the guys did look sort of sloppy at the end guess since they just wanted to head to bed and rest up for Saturday.
@SFinDaejeon thanks for the link man.
I just finished watching Daigo's set against Ricky and I gotta say Daigo is looking a bit rusty. Ricky played good enough but Daigo missed some links and wasn't as present as he usually is in a match.
What is up with the beast UMEHARA, son!?
@ #22
Erm, that could be because there are some reasonable outside reasons for him losing?
Traveling across half the world and arriving on the day of the tournament, jet-lagged/tired as hell, is obviously going to make you play much less than 100% - regardless of who the player is. I'd make the same argument if any American player were to arrive on the same day as SBO or whatever and proceed to noticeably under-perform. Personally, I think leaving it so late is a TERRIBLE business decision and I have no idea why he wouldn't get there a week earlier or whatever - unless it's his work that kept him in Japan all week.
At the end of the day, Daigo was a shadow of his normal self, constantly making weird mistakes that he clearly doesn't usually make. Anyway, providing he doesn't get hassled for late-night matches, hopefully he'll be rested for Sat/Sun and we'll be able to legitimately see what he can do. Mago is surely in a similar situation but it was less obvious with him.
Xian beat Daigo at his "best", I have no issue there. Daigo lacked experience in the matchup and it showed.
@ #32 Think that was on the CEOgaming twitch.
http://www.twitch.tv/ceogaming/b/3215...
Around the 9th hour is AE teams.
@35
The excuses and d*ckriding are strong in this one. Don't discredit Ricky's skill, Daigo isn't untouchable, nor is he the best. Our top players have leveled up since last year, and its showing. Daigo isn't winning CEO, nor is he winning EVO. Ugh, can't stand Daigo fanboys.
Knives in losers already wow. Hulk Sent Haggar though might be the simplest team out there. Team rely on one button
@ #37
...I didn't even say anything about Ricky, the guy's a beast.
I'm just saying that Daigo was clearly not on his A-game..
Furthermore, I don't even believe that he'll win CEO either - I think that Gamerbee possibly stands the best chance right now.
James, old man, Chen qualifies for the SFII Tournament of Legends. Good stuff.
Shout outs to all the up and coming players who never get the cred they deserve for at least making it on the live stream. good stuff so many strong players everyone definitly leveled up from the last time daigo was in an american tournament.
@37
i have to admit daigo is still better than our best players but it doesn't mean he'll always win or that he is immune to losing, he's also been off lately.... you know what's worse than fanboys, you salt-filled haters
Man Daigo showed no respect to Online Tony in that last round, also Bala vs. Momochi was a good match.
is mago still in umvc3? he is training hard on umvc3. he shouldn't have problem with kof, he teaches tokido kof.
@#56
Fanatiq is still in winners. My money is on him to win it.
Hey, anyone know which stream has the archive for SFxT? Also what happened to GamerBee ?
@ Catalyst
did anyone make it into top 32? i dont see the results anywhere for AE :(. so much hype yet we are left hanging because their are no results up....
SF4AE/2012 Top 32 Winners
EG|Momochi, West, MTLSF|Chi-Rithy, MCZ|Daigo Umehara
SF4AE/2012 Top 32 Losers
DMG.MCZ|Rico Suave, Chris King, CEO|CJ Truth, DMG.MCZ|Online Tony
Cos..uh.. Canada sux0rs. Chi-Rithy.. uh... got lucky in MAT and Toryuken and uh... Chi-Rithy is a noob.. uhh.. like, when he beat JWong in 3S, like uhhh 6 years ago at NEC 2007 (http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?..., it was uhh, whatever.
Listen up scrubs, the only reason you idiots haven't heard of Chi-Rithy is because the world's focus is on the west coast of the USA. Not everyone can get sponsored and afford to travel to tourneys all over the world. Yes, there's an incredible concentration of talent in California, but it's not the only place where great players can emerge. You're always going to have pockets of talent, and occasionally they'll have a chance to shine. Have some respect and just let the guy show what he can do. Chi-Rithy is one of the most respectful and humble guys you can meet - don't let the braggart ways of JSMaster taint your view of Canadians. JSMaster exploded on the scene with his reverse OCV of team japan, but his own ego has been preventing him from competing since. Chi-Rithy has no such constraints. Let him play.
Peace out.
@70 Fear in a tournament your going to go with what your comfortable with also what ever works the easiest to win.
@70 While I agree that people should pick who they like and not just who is top tier, I would do the same in a tournament.
When money is on the line you want the highest possible chance of winning, and top tiers do just that. It's like if you were in a race and somebody gave you the choice of a Honda Civic or an F1 car, you might like the Civic better, but you know it's going to be much harder to win with it.
The result of 48 sleepless hours, several cocktails and hours upon hours of stream monstering:
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6793...
I apologize in advance.
@72
how do you know that people are not picking who they like?
@70
Today I learned 10 percent of 40 is more than 4 characters. Kappa.
Lets see how many are common.. Wesker, Magneto, Trish, Akuma, Wolverine, Vergil, Dante, Pheonix, Doom, Spencer, Strider, Sentinel
Then you have characters like Viper, Nova, Taskmaster, Ammy, Haggar, Morrigan, Hawkeye, Dormmammu, Strange and Joe.
Id hardly call that 10 percent.
@70 It's a tournament. Play to win environment, not play so that stream monsters can enjoy seeing low tier character.
People should play whatever character they want for whatever reason they want. If giving themselves the best chance of winning is their reason, then so be it. Player should play for their own reasons and I think that the entertainment of the internet ranks pretty low on most players' list of priorities.
AE is stacked, justin VS daigo, mike ross VS mago, cant wait for it to start.
i dont see a problem with plyrs in mvc choosing wesker vergil mag n dante. their were also cap america, strange, trish, task, shehulk, morri, felicia, skrull, and haggar plyrs. thts a good variety. look at street fighter iv, all u ever see is rufus, ryu, fei, n cammy. when was the last time we saw blanka, gen, rose, guy, vega and etc being played? i think marvel is doing far better than almost all the games being plyed in terms of character variety.
@ moderators.
someone misspelled iperu and put ipero. just saying. thanks for the update on AE!

With all due respect, dude: posting results from a 2007 tourney? u serious? Okay, Chi-Rithy is a winner in 3rd strike. Chi-Rithy is a man with experience to behold in CEO. Credit where credit is due, I won't say it otherwise. And I won't send him to a personal judgement of who he is, what has he done and whatnot, although what he showed in the team matches was Viscant-tier post-Phoenix nerf like TBH (and some players like Daigo or Jwong have always stayed solid, competitive, and top ranking through the years, but nevermind); you must have seen the stream, so allow me to ask this: was Chi-Rithy the only thing holding back the North American team for beating Japan, yes or no?
On a sidenote: I'm kinda sad RayRay ended in such a low note on UMVC. I'm the first to admit I stream monster the guy like I just say "f**k him, he's a fraud", but I praise him for getting out of his comfort zone and trying his luck in hard tourneys, because truth be told, I wasn't mad at the guy at all, but I just couldn't stand all that ridiculous fantardism and sandbagging (Yipes, Marlin) who were baby-sitting him to not get demoralized at ECT just for being free to Fanatiq (even though he was asking for it in the first place).
#84
No, he wasn't. Dieminion also performed below average, only winning one of three matches. Ricky was the only top-tier player on the team. A dream team for me for NA would have been like
Mike Ross, Ricky Ortiz, Justin Wong.
We definitely didn't put our best foot forward IMO
However, Chi-Rithy definitely impressed me by making a lot of the matches close and keeping Japan on their toes.
Yeah, Chi-Rithy was awesome in that team match - what are you talking about?
The final number isn't everything with regards to player ability, especially when it's just an exhibition. Many of those rounds could have gone either way.
LOOK HERE germs - i got a couple things to talk about.
1) WTF was joker thinking when he challenged Fanatiq? This dude will rape him and take his money maaaan. Losing to Justin was the smartest thing he did. Where is he now anyways? Like the Milli Vanilli of Marvel... exposed.
2) Daigo analysts need to take a break. He's in winners. He's the favorite to win the whole thing. Let's hol' dat til he loses... IF he loses. I think he'll win - print it.
3) Can someone tell UltraDave and especially James Chen to shut the FU pleeze? Americans ALWAYS talk about character matchups as if the CPU is playing against the CPU or something. As if you pick Fei against Ryu and you automatically win. Give guys like Gamerbee his credit man! Otherwise, let's see YOU pick Adon and get top 5 - as if he's a shoe-in just cuz he's Adon. GTFOutta here man.
Done.

Lol that wrestling-style entrance of Yipes got the crowd hyped up big time. The commentary was great, especially when UltraDavid was commentating on that part. Even though I don't really watch UMVC3 and I don't play it at all, that's pretty good stuff. As usual, I'm gonna watch SSF4 matches.
I'm loving these entrances EVO should bring them back.
