Show matches for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

AGE|Fanatiq beat MH|RayRay 15 - 5
Things started off good for RayRay (Ryu, Magneto, Sentinel), getting 2 wins out of the gate, but Fanatiq (Magneto, Storm, Sentinel) came back hard with impressive Storm play, getting some big hits off mental breakdowns by RayRay, to win 8 straight games. There was a few back and forth moments after that, but RayRay wasn't able to get his mental game under control, it appeared nerves were an issue, and he didn't play up to his potential. Fanatiq controlled the set though, making smart adjustments and playing very well, to keep RayRay from getting into a rhythm, and he ended up winning in convincing fashion.

CoCo|OMG It's Andre beat IGT|Unkn0wn 10-8
It was originally reported that Unknown (Wesker, Sentinel, C. Viper) won this exhibition match, but it was a scoring mishap and OMG It's Andre (Vergil, Magneto, Wesker) actually won, 10-8. This was a very hype first to ten set, although there were a lot of dropped combos. Things went constantly back and forth with each player taking the lead and then losing it.

Any word on if the Stickbug stream is going to start? I'm assuming they're having internet problems, anyone notice that 8WayRun is running at 720p+, while Spooky is rocking 432p+? With the limitations, I'd figure that everyone would cap themselves @ 432+p?

They are using the pre-patch build. the 3% increase build with the patches in the game was from the dev-kit that are played in casuals whenever Mike Z or someone who he loans a copy to could do some exhibitions. They don't want people to have to relearn the game until after the EvO side tournament.

#12
no idea. It is still offline. The "anime fighters with Skullgirls" can't be streamed on st1ckbug because of internet issues at the venue. Hopefully they can at least get top 8 streamed -_-

Fanatiq winning 15-5 proving that RayRay = FrayFray a.k.a. Free money!!! #ECT4 lets go!!!

Ok "dick riding" aside, experience CLEARLY matters over skill and clearly proved in this match. Its like training mode monsters, you can do all your s***, but in a match it depends if you can land the initial hit to do all them combos against someone.

In this case nerves was the problem as this wasn't an ordinary money match. And Fanatiq obviously a very experienced money match player dominated. RayRay is no joke though, that Ryu stuff was the s***!!! GGs both!!!

Well It's good to know that Fanatiq won. Even though I knew he would. All that with showing on Cross Counter dropping combos and losing to Mike Ross was all for show and a lot of people fell for it.

Andre beat Unkn0wn 10-8. When Andre went up 4-1, Sp00ky changed the score accordingly but then Yipes said the score was 3-1 and so Sp00ky changed it back to 3-1, even though Yipes was wrong. Andre got to 9-8 with this count, so he actually defeated Unkn0wn since one of his wins was taken away.

Pretty crazy stuff.

I don't understand how money matches between scrubs can be hype but the fgc has a mind of its own. Hopefully next time we can get Chris G vs. Combofiend ft15 or something really worth watching. I wouldn't mind a ft15 between Chris G and Fanatiq since Fanatiq talked a bunch of sh*t about Chris G and we all know Chris G would beat him 15-0. Either way its been a good event so far only thing topping it is Tokido at MLG. Peace.

He played Chris G FT10 for $50 after the event. He lost 10-5 but made it clear that he really wasnt expecting to win before the set. He also bodied RDK aka set of teeth 10-1. Trolled him with some snapback combos. He beat moons. Lost to marvisto one set then ran it back and beat him. Lost to some crazy skrull in a ft3. I think he played more but they were up at like 4am so I couldn't catch it.

@75: Fanatiq has talked about using attraction before Shockwave; he said it only nets you one extra hit of the shockwave in most situations. So 9/10 you're going to have to spend the second meter anyways; why add an extra step to your combo you could potentially drop for one extra hit?

Fanatiq won the match, extremely convincingly, and that's that. Fanatiq proved to be the better player.

@81 Fanatiq didn't prove to be the better player. He proved to be the better and more experienced money matcher. It was said many times on stream RayRay was not playing like himself. This is a guy who managed to go 6-5 with Chris G at one of latest Big Two's. Something, Fanatiq could never hope to do. Nerves played a big factor in this match up and it showed several times, which is why Fanatiq won. If they end up playing each other in the actual bracket I'm pretty sure it won't end up like the money match did at all.

gammabolt17 said on June 10, 2012 at 11:44 a.m.

@83

Dude, Fanatiq is the better player. The reason RayRay wasn't playing like himself is because Fanatiq was gettin in his ass so much he lost his composure. That means Fanatiq is better. The Patriots are the most experienced Super Bowl team this era, but it hasn't stopped the Giants from gettin in that ass twice, now has it?

#85
gammabolt17's avatar
gammabolt17 said on June 10, 2012 at 11:51 a.m.

I love how so many people are crying about Fanatiq dominating and discounting his skill when most people were applauding ChrisG's coward ass keepaway. RayRay ran his mouth, and got bodied, period. What makes one player better than the other is the fact that he doesn't let his nerves get in the way of doing what you are there to do. The fact Fanatiq played the "stone cold killer" role is EXACTLY why he is better. It's called being "clutch". RayRay didn't have that "clutch" factor in him. Y'all keep on being butthurt about Fanatiq winning a match.

#70's feelings are so hurt about it, it's laughable. If you are going to talk crazy, back it up. It's as simple as that. If RayRay wasn't ready, then RayRay should have sit his ass down somewhere, and stop antagonizing people he can't handle yet.

#86
Default avatar
thf24 said on June 10, 2012 at 12:22 p.m.

While they played a part, nerves weren't the only reason RayRay lost by far. Fanatiq had him downloaded by the third game while he never downloaded Fanatiq at all. RayRay was consistently making the same mistakes that led to big damage from Beyonzo throughout the whole set and never adapted, and I'm not talking about dropped combos from nerves. If RayRay had stayed cool the match might have been a little closer but Fanatiq still would have won.

#87
gammabolt17's avatar
gammabolt17 said on June 10, 2012 at 12:24 p.m.

@87

Yeah, I agree. I just said what I said is because I see the RayRay defense force is talking about he lost because of nerves, and not Fanatiq being the better player. Which is silly, because the reason those nerves affected him in the first place is because Fanatiq was soo damn good he didn't know what to do. Like you said, Fanatiq downloaded him after he went up 2-0 and RayRay couldn't recover. He was too damn good for him, and that's just what it is.

#88
Default avatar
thf24 said on June 10, 2012 at 12:32 p.m.

@88 Yeah I agree with your point too. Staying cool under pressure is part of a player's skill, not a side item to it, which is why Fanatiq is the better player. Those saying otherwise are just sore losers.

Tru1yOdd said on June 10, 2012 at 12:37 p.m.

Fanatiq won because he is the better player and the more experienced player. Fanatiq's Magneto is the more effective Magneto. Even though RayRay has some fancy combos, the way he plays is just not that effective.

Fanatiq also proved that he was the better player by completely downloading RayRay after the first couple of games. Ryu did work against Fanatiq but after the first 2 games he wasnt doing anything. During 15 games RayRay couldnt figure out what to do against Storm.

#91
Default avatar
iMTopTier said on June 10, 2012 at 1:03 p.m.

Lol wow now evrrybody think im hating on fanatiq i love his playstyle especially his Storm i just said that he won because RayRay was nervous but why because RayRay is a rookie compared to Fanatiq he is a veteran and anybody would be nervous in a money match against somebody of that level,the matches weren't for $20 they were for more than $200

#92
gammabolt17's avatar
gammabolt17 said on June 10, 2012 at 1:11 p.m.

@92

Even if you're not hating on Fanatiq you're discounting his win as RayRay being overcome by nerves, but you won't admit that it's a result of Fanatiq's skill forcing RayRay to lose his nerve. All of that other jazz you speakin is irrelevant. He ran his mouth, flashed his money, he laid down the challenge. That rookie/veteran nonsense matters not. He was nervous because he was gettin his ass whooped, bottom line. RayRay was nervous because he was overwhelmed by Fanatiq's skill.

Fanatiq is better, and moreso, he showed that RayRay is not on his level. They played a ft15. Your nerves shouldn't affect you for 20 (18 I guess) whole matches. He wasn't nervous when he won those first two, hell he looked good. The problem is that Fanatiq didn't give two fvcks about those first matches, because he was downloading. Once the DL was complete, it was over for RayRay. That dude was outmatched.

I am being honest here.
Is there any explanation as to why Andre and people that play against him drop so many combos?
Combofiend was dropping combos he succesfully does against a lot of other players under much more pressure; Smoothviper doing wrong Pillars with Dormammu... It makes no sense.
