GameSpot has uploaded the Persona 4: Arena stage demo.

During the demo Atlus' Aram Jabbari does a nice rundown for everyone from how their older RPG game became a hit fighting game, the control scheme, specific characters and more.

This game looks lame... Pretty much a Capcom fighter/ SNK clone/Jo Jo Bizarre Adv./ Guilty Gear clone. There's nothing special about this game and they make you play through story to unlock characters when there's ONLY 13.... lame, lame. Just like Skullgirls is also a stupid fighting game.

@3

You only have to unlock them if you're playing Story Mode. They're already there for VS if you just want to use them.

@2

Is that Sylvia in your avatar?

That Aram guy needs to work on his Randy Savage impression a little more. It just doesn't have the right grit to it yet.

@3 - Congratulations. You've won the award for the most ignorant post of the day. P4U plays nothing like a Capcom or SNK game. You could call it a mix between Blazblue and Guilty Gear, but that's about it. Calling it a clone is just fücking retarded.

Go back to d!ckriding Capcom.

Seems cool, too bad anime fighters like these just can't seem to be popular here in the US... they need a new art style or something.

Looks really good. Easy to get into with the streamlined controls and mechanics, but still has enough depth and detail to be a real hardcore fighter.

To the Persona and Atlus side, the slick art style from P4 translates extremely well the ASW's sprite work and the RPG elements in the Persona series works in a clever fashion as well(using character & persona attacks in chain, status effects, etc.). From what I have seen, the single player content is impressive as well, with a dedicated story mode that is canon in the Persona timeline.

This seems to have appeal to Atlus RPG fans, fighting game fans, and people drawn to the art and characters of P4 but were a bit too intimidated by the 100 hour RPG that came along with it. But as a huge fan of fighters and P4, I could not be more excited.

Yeah, the roster could be more extensive (could have a few more offbeat P3 & 4 characters, and possibly ones from other SMT games like Raidou or Demi-Fiend). Yet the existing characters all seem to have great polish to them and the balance seems pretty well done.

Day One!!

@3

You're very astute in being able to dictate the quality of a game you haven't actually played yet.

Also, I'd rather play a game with a handful of polished, well balanced characters like P4 Arena and Skullgirls versus a game with 40+ characters that are mostly wasted because people only play the same 6 - 8.

I agree. This game looks awesome. A breath of fresh air. Definitely going to pick this up; though I'll most likely drop it once TTT2 comes out.
