Updated with final results: The results for the Austin, Texas Street Fighter 25th Anniversary tournament have been added into this story.
OMFG, there's still an hour left before they finish the brackets.
(SFIV) I think I've already seen enough Rufus vs Rufus finals to last me the whole year.
Why does RickyOrtiz ride Wongs characters. He literally picked the same team JW picked in the last couple years from SF4 to Marvel to this. I guess it payed off tho for SF4 since i'm sure 2 friends training the same characters will probably learn better that way. But still kinda boring and lame.
Well, I was wrong with my SFIV prediction.
J. Wong won't be in the finals. (And that was a great game from Wolfkrone).
Guy in the top 4 in AE2012, never thought I'd see the day...
Guy is not in top 4 just because someone counter pick with Guy for few games. This is like saying Gouken for evo when infiltration only used gouken as a counterpicker.
@SnakeX
I don't care who he main. He needs to his the character in the tournament. He didn't even win a set with Guy at top 8. Rufus got him to there. He can switch to dan at the end the result will be still the same.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH ORTIZ WITH THAT COPY & PASTE ISH ON JUSTIN????????? DAMN I HATE THAT
What happened to my baby?
If i was at this tourney and i havent paid attenton to street fighter as much since it was a big hit..
Then only to see A Big Fat Guy with a long yellow Braid named Rufus owning everyone in the game, I wouldnt believe my eyes.
i would be like what happened and who the hell is that fat guy.
No offense to rufus fans but this game used to run a tight cast, and every extended version had great unique characters. From their name to unique move set.
I didnt totally dislike him until i seen him in almost every match of the game Anniversary, just way to much rufus for me..who is this guy really?
I wish people would realize this isn't about Rufus vs. Rufus as much as its about Justin Wong vs. Ricky Ortiz. The fact that there aren't any other Rufus players even close to them lets you know it's the players and not the character.
That said, top players don't play for hype or for spectator enjoyment, and if you think they should, then I feel sorry for you.
@30
For what it's worth I have nothing but respect for those players. And I only ever hear positive things about Justin Wong from anyone who met him, so I definitely don't dislike the player. I just never liked Rufus and unfortunately for me two of the US' best players use him.
(At least Boxer does not seem to be used as much as a while back. And that's good for me. ;)
@33 Yes I disliked him from when he was announced (because of his character design). Disliked him more when I found out he was Ken's rival in Story mode (yes I know that barely counts as a reason..) I found his post-battle wall of texts funny and somewhat redeeming.
It's a very shallow reason,, but it's hard to separate how I feel about the character from what I think about the character's play style.
I don't think my dislike is because of Justin and Ricky, but seeing Rufus all the time does not help.
In any case, here's hoping Justin will pick up Adon again, and didn't Ricky main Dictator in the past?
@35
Fair enough. It just seems that there is a trend in which large numbers of the FGC come to hate the characters that do well in tournaments, and don't really consider that it's pretty much the same players doing so well.
In some cases, the hate is warranted; Fei Long in AE comes to mind.
