Street Fighter 25th anniversary tournament series begins this weekend with Austin, Texas

Brelston over at Capcom-Unity posted a blog today detailing the first stop in the Street Fighter 25th anniversary tournament series. The first tournament in the series will be taking place on July 28, 2012 in Austin, Texas and you can find a schedule for this event below.

For those who are unable to attend but would like to check out the action, Capcom Unity will be streaming this event via Twitch TV.

Saturday 8:00AM: Venue Opens
8:00AM-8:45AM: On-site registration
9:00AM: Brackets are published
9:00AM-10:00AM: Casual Play / Practice

10:00AM: Tournament Begins for All Games
6:00PM: Down to 32 players for All games

6:00PM-9:00pm: Quarterfinals Begins, Top 32 -> Top 8 (up to Top 4 for 3rd Strike and HDR)

Sunday 8:00AM: Venue Opens
8:00AM-10:00AM: Casual Play / Practice
10:00AM: Top 4 begins for HD Remix
10:45PM: Top 4 begins for 3rd Strike
11:50PM: Grand Finals of SFxT 2v2 exhibition
12:30PM: Top 8 Begins for SFxT 1v1
3:00PM: Top 8 Begins for SF4
6:00PM: Tournament ends
6:00PM-8:00PM: Casual Play
8:00PM: Venue Closes

I'll be at a local event on Saturday so I'll miss that, but definitely trying to catch everything Sunday, particularly the SFxT 1v1 and 3rd Strike.

I'm honestly considering getting into 3rd Strike alongside SFxT... but if I do I'd want to play Elena and last time I tried that.... :-(

Er, ahem... anyhow yeah. This shall be a good weekend watch. :-)

@Hypermarth - agreed. I think that's been the biggest problem (despite my initial thoughts that 2v2 would be good for the game long ago).

1v1 is just a better format.

In all honest if anyone that particpates in the tournament takes the time to learn the tekken cast i think it would be more enjoyable to watch then seeing hadoken and jabs. Then again I'd personally like to wait until that patch to see if the game can start to get activity.

Because it gets little to no stream time due to the fact that 99% of people who watch streams don't enjoy watching the game, sure it has fans, but even some people who enjoy playing it dislike watching it

I'm hype for this tourny if it attracts the best players (which it probably should do), although I'm not a fan of Capcom's streaming ability - or lack thereof.
